Chapter 12: Sachiel

The cleaning team, or rather, the purification team finally arrives, just thirty minutes late from my sister's request.

I wonder if she came... I carefully adjust my clothes as I head to the bathroom to check my hair in the mirror.

Calmly looking at myself in the mirror, I remove bits of mud from my clothes and hair, remnants of the transformation in my body.

I take a comb from my pocket and fix my hair carefully; after all, I can't look careless.

“Professor, what are you doing?” I glance to the side and see Saulo staring at me from outside the bathroom.

“Just tidying up a bit, Saulo,” I put the comb back in my pocket.

“Ms. Cassiel is already outside; she seemed pretty angry when she leaved,” Saulo holds his nose.

“When we get home, I’ll remind her to take a shower,” I step out of the bathroom as Saulo smiles at the comment; apparently, he has a sensitive nose.

Outside, the entire perimeter is surrounded, with lines of golden energy forming an invisible barrier to the civilian eye, blocking unauthorized entry and exit.

Four men in robes pass by me and Saulo, entering the morgue for cleaning.

Outside, there are six men dressed similarly to police officers for civil control should anyone approach, as well as four women with the same purpose.

There are also some vehicles and a white truck with a cross mark on the left door. Next to the truck, my sister, covered with blood on her pants and dirt in her hair, is talking to the most beautiful woman in the world.

She has long, light blue hair that resembles the sky swaying in the wind; her eyes are jade green, her skin is so fair and clean it could reflect light, her lips are full yet delicate, and her fingers are thin but not weak at all. She stands at one hundred sixty-three centimeters tall, and her clothes are completely different from the rest of the team, consisting of gray jeans and a white shirt under an open brown coat.

I place my left hand on my chest and take a deep breath. Whenever I look at her, my heart races, my blood quickens, and my forehead gets hot.

I need to calm down; I’m on duty, and this isn’t the time for that.

Looking to the side, I see Saulo watching me with a mocking smile on his face.

“Who is that, Mr. Seth?”

Damm brat! I cough twice with my fist in front of my mouth, before I respond.

“Her name is Sachiel, and she commands the Purification Team throughout Italy, which is why they always take a while to arrive,” I look down to ensure my clothes are not dirty.

“Wasn’t it called the Cleaning Team?” I glare at Saulo.

“The official name is the Purification Team; we call it cleaning because that’s essentially what they do.”

“That makes sense. What rank is she?”

I place my hand on my chin, thinking a bit before responding.

“She is equivalent to a mid-grade Knight, meaning she can take on Assam in direct combat, as well as Demons,” I look at Saulo, who is speechless.

“I hope she’s not like Ms. Cassiel…” With Saulo's comment, I start to laugh as the boy stares at me.

“Don’t worry about that; in behavior, my sister and Sachiel are complete opposites, but strangely enough, they aren’t like oil and water.”

“What do you mean?”

“I mean they are friends,” Saulo looks at me, shocked again.

“Cassiel has friends?”

“Don’t say that out loud,” I start walking toward my sister and Sachiel, with Saulo following closely behind.

If you encounter this narrative on Amazon, note that it's taken without the author's consent. Report it.

Cassiel turns when she hears us coming, and Sachiel also looks in our direction.

The beautiful woman forms a gentle smile and waves at both of us. Just seeing that makes my face feel warm, followed by a kick from Saulo on my leg to snap me back.

“Are you ready now, brother?” a mischievous smile is on Cassiel’s face.

“Hello, Seth, good to see you again,” she then looks at Saulo.

She quickly approaches and shakes Saulo's hand.

“Hi, I’m Sachiel. What’s your name, young man? Are you their new student? A helper? Wait, you weren’t brought in off the street, were you?” I facepalm.

“Um, I’m Saulo; nice to meet you, Miss Sachiel. I’m the new student. What do you mean by ‘the street?’” Cassiel turns her back and starts whistling, pretending she’s not part of the conversation.

“Oh, you know, their second student was a woman named Astrari; Cassiel picked her up off the street when they were in India,” Saulo looks at Cassiel.

“So that’s how they get students? By finding them lost on the street?”

“That’s only happened twice!” Cassiel turns to Saulo and Sachiel while I hold back a laugh.

“Then... Sachiel, how long will the cleaning take?” I avoid looking at her while speaking; I can’t get distracted again.

“It should take approximately fifteen minutes,” Sachiel starts pinching Saulo's cheeks while responding; he complains.

“I see. Was there any problem on the way here?” Sachiel releases Saulo, who steps back.

“We havd to clean up a demon summoning ritual in Cosenza, if that’s what you’re asking; by the way, I just remembered that Aldwin sent his regards to both of you,” she looks at Cassiel.

“He was responsible for stopping the ritual?”

“Yes, a crazy cultist summoned some lesser demons, and Aldwin was tasked with eliminating them,” Cassiel takes her phone out as she listens.

“How he went?”

“He asked me to tell you he’s training just like you instructed,” with the answer, Cassiel smiles with satisfaction and steps away while looking at her phone.

“Is there something for me too?” Sachiel looks at me, her beautiful green eyes reflecting the light and almost blinding me—or maybe I’m just imagining things.

“He asked you to take care of Cassiel and remind her to take a shower.”

This again? I can hear Saulo’s laughter, which is quickly stifled by more cheek pinching.

“How are they treating you, kid?” Saulo breaks free to respond.

“I’m sorry, Miss Sachiel, but I just arrived today; I can’t say much,” Sachiel then looks at me.

“Don’t let Cassiel break this kid,” she says, adjusting her sleeves and tying her hair back with a ribbon she takes from her pant pocket.

“I’ll do my best,” Sachiel smiles and then heads into the morgue.

“So, lil’ brother,” I look at Cassiel, who is now next to Saulo, both smiling and looking at me.

“What is it, sister?”

“When will you gather your courage?”

“When we finish what we have to do.”

Cassiel just stares at me and shrugs, heading toward the car while I let out a sigh; Saulo goes with her.

What a shame i am...

I also head to the car for the driver’s seat. Cassiel and Saulo quickly got into the back seat.

“Where to now, sister?”

“Let’s go back ‘home’; we need to presnet it to the kid.”

“Understood,” I start the car and begin to drive, leaving the crime scene to be purified without disturbance.

“Ms. Cassiel, what is the role of the Purification Team, anyway? We just skimmed over it in class,” I feel smoke coming out of my ears.

“In summary, they serve the same role of holy water in a baptism; they guide the Shekinah into the area to dissipate the energy of demons in the region, as well as that of the deceased, allowing the dead to pass to the afterlife without issues and ensuring that exorcised beings take longer to return.”

“Is there really no way to kill them permanently?” I hear a slight tone of sadness from the boy.

“Even if they die, they just return to where they came from; the exorcism ensures they don’t come back quickly at least.”

“And if we trap them?”

“Too dangerous.”

“I see.”

"Hey, how did Seth and Sachiel first meet?"

I can just imagine the look my sister is making right now...

“It wasn't romantic at all if that's your question, but it's funny, so I’ll tell you!”

When Cassiel starts to tell the story, I honk the car horn, suppressing the sound of the conversation for a few moments.

“Dear sister, I think it’s too personal to expose this kind of thing about your brother.”

“Do you think I didn’t hear you talking about my smell? I’m just returning the favor, dear little brother.”

Damn big-eared! I sigh.

“Saulo, I go to deliver a report to the purification team after a mission so they could do everything accurately; I got the location wrong, that’s all.”

“Nonsense! He walked into the wrong room; Sachiel was inside, and he was enchanted right away; he asked where the right room was, and Sachiel guided him,” I can feel Saulo looking at me.

“When they got to the room, she asked Seth to wait and went inside. A few minutes later, he was invited to enter, and she was sitting in the captain's chair. Sachiel loves describing the look on his face!”

“And how is it?”

“The next time you see Sachiel, you can ask her; she tells it better than I do.”

“Sister…”

“Okay, okay, Saulo, what kind of spells do you know?”

“I can shoot energy blasts and do some prayers.”

“Great, we'll work on that when we get there.”

Poor kid.

Finally, we reach the public parking lot where I park the car, and the three of us get out.

“Aren't you going to lock the car, Mr. Seth?”

“It has an energy marking system; it’s all safe.”

“I’m going to take care of some things; take Saulo up front,” Cassiel says as she walks away.

“Let’s go,” I start walking with Saulo following me.

After eight minutes of walking, we stop in front of a humble house that has a ground floor and one upper floor.

“This is…”

“Any problem, kid?” I ask while unlocking the door.

“I was expecting something more, I don’t know, sacred?”

“Appearances are part of the disguise,” I enter the house and wait for Saulo to come in so I can lock the door.

“I understand.”
