Chapter 9: Chapter 9

Over the next few weeks, Lauren and Camila found themselves gravitating toward each other more and more. It started with coffee dates and walks in the park, with Harry running ahead, his laughter filling the air. It was natural, easy—like they had always been in each other's lives.

Lauren grew close to Harry too. He adored her, and every time she came over, he would light up with excitement. They spent afternoons together playing with his toys or reading books, and Lauren couldn't help but marvel at how quickly he had stolen a piece of her heart.

But it wasn't just Harry. Camila had become a constant in her thoughts, in her life. The more time they spent together, the more Lauren realized how deeply she was falling for her. It scared her, the intensity of it, but it also felt right. She hadn't expected to find someone like Camila—someone who understood her, who accepted her, who made her feel like she could finally let her guard down.

One evening, after another casual dinner at Camila's place, they found themselves sitting on the couch, Harry already asleep in his room. The air was soft, comfortable, but Lauren could feel something bubbling under the surface.

Camila turned to her, her eyes searching Lauren's face. "I've been thinking a lot about us," she began, her voice quiet but steady. "About how this is all happening so fast, but... it feels right."

Lauren's heart swelled at her words. "It does," she agreed, reaching out to take Camila's hand. "I've never felt this way before, not so quickly, but I don't want to overthink it. I want to see where this goes."

Camila's fingers tightened around hers, and she smiled—soft, genuine, full of warmth. "Me too."

The words hung between them for a moment before, slowly, Camila leaned in. Lauren's heart raced, but she didn't hesitate. She closed the distance between them, their lips meeting in a soft, tentative kiss.

It was gentle, slow, and everything Lauren had imagined it would be. When they pulled apart, both of them were smiling, their foreheads resting together as they savored the moment.

"I think we just found out what comes next," Camila whispered, her eyes twinkling with joy.

Lauren smiled, her heart light and full. "Yeah, I think we did."
