They had dinner with the family members before rushing to their respective room for the planned video call that they had been waiting for since morning.
Ahana reached her room as she looked at her phone to see the msg from Sonia with the link embedded in it. She pulled her laptop out and logged in to it before heading to Zoom. She entered the password and Id as the meeting started.
Ahana waited patiently as the screen loaded before the meeting connected and a user name sonia came on the screen. Both Ahana and Sonia's camera and mic were muted so Ahana took the lead. She turned her camera on along with the mic and waved.
Ahana:"Hi"(Soon after few second Sonia's mic and camera also turned on)
Sonia:"Hi Ahana. Sonia here"( She spoke in a foreign accent)
Ahana:"Hi Sonia."
Neil:( Entering the room)" Shona your milk"( Ahana looked up and made a face at Neil)" Don't make faces and drink it. Did the meeting start"( He asked seeing the laptop while Ahana nodded as she shifted a little let's Neil settle down next to her)
Ahana:"Sonia this is my husband Neil."
Neil:"Hello"
Sonia:"Hi.."
Neil forwarded Ahana the milk who gave him a side eye as she signaled towards the laptop. He just shrugged and brought the milk Near her face indicating her to drink.
Ahana:"Neil she is watching"( Ahana whispered yelled at Neil before giving a smile to Sonia who was having a hard time controlling her smile seeing the cute scene in front of her)
Neil:( Replying in the same way)" Her watching won't effect your and the babies health but you not having medicine on time and not drinking this nutritious milk will have a effect. So drink"( He scolded her cutely while she sighed as she took the milk from his hands and drank it quickly before taking her medicine)
Ahana:"Done. Happy?"( She asked tilting her head towards Neil who smiled at her cuteness)
Neil:"Yes jaan. Very happy "( He replied with a soft smile as he wiped Ahana's mouth gently before keeping the glass on the table nearby)
Sonia:(Squealing)" Oh my gosh you guys are adorbs"(Hearing her voice both Neil and Ahana realized that they had an audience. Ahana blushed while Neil frowned in confusion)
Neil:"Adorbs?"
Sonia:"Adorable ofcourse. It's like I am watching a drama"
Ahana:( Laughs a little)" Well Sonia we actually had something important to discuss. "
Sonia:( Getting angry suddenly)" That that jerk. Rajeev. How do you know him Again"
Ahana:"Ahh soo...how do I say this."( Neil held Ahana's hands in reassurance as she sighed before continuing)" He is my ex.... ex-husband."
Sonia:"What he was married "( She looked shocked)"That bastarded he lied to me"
Ahana:"Sonia we need to know everything you know about rajeev"
Neil:"It's really important sonia please try and tell us everything from the point you met him till the last time you heard of him "
Sonia:"Why would it matter now. It's seems like you have already moved on in you life then why do you care now"
Ahana:(Sighed)"Because I was cheated on as well Sonia. He Cheated me as well. And now...he...well let's just say if you want him to get punished for his deeds then we need to know why he did what he did. Motive is what drives a person. We need to know what was Rajeev's motive to cheat on me and you as well."
Sonia:"I.. Okay.. I met him 8 years ago. I have always lived in London all my life. My parents always were fond of their own country. They wanted to settle me here before returning to India forever. Yearly I would visit India for 1 month or so to spend time with my parents. That's when I met Rajeev. I was on my trip to India. Mom and dad were really busy that week so I spend most of my time alone traveling to nearby places. Rajeev was...well he was different when I met him. He had this charm to him which I couldn't shake of. We clicked of pretty quickly. That whole 1 month, we met and talked. We became good friends and the last day before my departure back home he ..he confessed his love."
Ahana and Neil listen carefully to Sonia. Neil never left Ahana's hand for even a second as he was worried how this information will effect Ahana. The situation they were in these days was so complicated that sometimes it was hard to know their own emotions.
Sonia:"His love, his talk, his smile everything seemed so genuine. So real. I...I was still not sure about my feeling at that time. So I.. I didn't really gave him a answer. Though he said he will wait. wait till I fall in love with him. Wait till I return. Miraculously I return 2 months after only. For my cousins marriage. Those 2 months away made me realized that I actually liked him. So when I returned I also confessed my feeling. We started to date. 1 year passed as such. Even though most of our relationship was a long distance relationship, he never made me feel like he didn't love me. I guess he was great at deceiving people"
Ahana:" I guess so too"( She said softly as she realized the fact that Rajeev played her and Sonia at the same time and still feels no remorse)
Sonia:"Well he...after sometimes I was tired of long distance relationship. I suggest that either he move to London with me or we find some other way because this wasn't gonna work. I still remember how weird he acted to this news. He...I don't know how to explain it but after 5 days he came to me saying that Let's leave to London today itself. He was ready to move with me and that his family has disowned him because they don't accept his love for me. I..I believed him and we moved to London and started to live in a live in relationship. Things were great for the first 3 years before I started to notice things. Rajeev was...greedy. I think now I realize that maybe he...he was with me just for money"
Ahana:"Money? Why would Rajeev want money he had enough already. We weren't poor Neil. Yeah I agree we weren't as rich as now. Dad's company has grown over the past 5 years but even at the time we weren't in any need for money "
Neil:"Shona...some people don't care how much money they have because that never satisfies them even if they are a millionaire. What they want is more. Looking at the situation it is clear that Sonia was Rajeev's ticket to london. "
Sonia:"he is right Ahana. I learned it the hard way. 3 years back was when I first started to notice this, but I ignored the signs. I loved him dearly. My bestfriend Rick was always skeptical of Rajeev. He was the one who suggested that I should be careful around Rajeev. He isn't what he looks like but at that time I was...let's just say blinded by his so called fake love that I didn't pay any heed to these things. But then his behavior changed."
Neil:"Changed? How so?"
Sonia:"He started act... I don't know how to explain it. Distant? He started to seem more gloomy as he spend most of his time over the internet. He started getting irritated at stupid thing and even act like a total douche. When I think of it now I think I can get a reason. "
Ahana:"what?"
Sonia:"Money. Rajeev used to use my money for most of this things as he wasn't on a working Visa or a citizen to be able to earn on hai own legally. He was still working in the Indian company from home but it wasn't great at the time. He was a verge of getting fired due to some reasons. That when I made a decision. The decision to remove his access from my account. At that point I just wanted to few changes and make him his own account instead him sharing mine but that decision made me see his real face. Well long story short, we started to fight alot. And things didn't work out. For the past year I wanted to break up from him but he wouldn't. He would always do things or find things to convince me. Our relationship was getting really toxic that even my friends could see it"
Ahana: "If you were trying to break up for such a long time and it's wasn't working out then how did you finally broke up with him"
Sonia:" Well I didn't. He did. One day he suddenly came and created this whole scene and drama before my friend before he broke up with me. To be honest I wasn't as broken up as I though how I would be. Maybe because his toxic nature gave me a little happiness of the freedom that my future held for me. This was 4 months ago. After that he stayed in london for few months before he headed back to India. After that yesterday was the first time I heard of him. That's the whole story. Hope it helped"
Neil:"it sure did. Thanks alot Sonia for taking out your time and sharing your past with us. We might need you help in the future"
Sonia:"Oh sure. Giving that bastard what he deserve is what I want and I'll surely help in any way I can. But now I got to go."
Neil:"yeah bye"
Sonia:"bye guys "
Ahana smiled as Sonia cut the call ending the zoom meeting. Neil turned to Ahana to see her lost in her thoughts. He slowly gripped her shoulder to bring her out of her chain of thoughts.
Neil:"Spill the Beans Shona. What on your mind?"
Ahana:"It's frustrating Neil. I...I can't even imagine that all the deeds Rajeev did was for what Money? He killed my...my parents... Aarti ji ....He killed people for money. He kidnapped his own son for money? Heck he betrayed his parents for Money?"
Neil:( Pulling Ahana into his embrace as he sighs)"Ahana tell me one thing. What do you feel more angry about the fact that Rajeev did these crimes or the fact that he hurt your loved ones"
Ahana:"Ofcourse I am angry that he committed such crimes but yes I would agree that hurting my loved ones is what makes me angry the most"
Neil:"Who did he hurt in you eyes"
Ahana:"Why are you asking Neil"
Neil:"Just answer me Ahana. You will know the reason soon"
Ahana:"He hurt Ansh, Aarti ji, Mom, dad, Prabha Maa, Sanjeev Papa, Sonia,and indirectly he hurt everyone by snatching Aarti from you. He hurt Aryan and Naira. He hurt you Neil."
Neil:"What about you love? He hurt you too but when ever you Express your anger or sadness towards this situation you never talk about how hurt you felt. He cheated you Ahana. He hurt you. He betrayed you. Yet you act like this isn't about you. But it is. He hurt your parents. Your son. He broke you Ahana for years"
Ahana:"To be honest Neil it doesn't matter what he did to me. But it hurts like hell knowing he hurt my family "
Neil:"But it should matter Ahana. You are as much of importance as other. Baby We will get revenge for everyone but mostly for you. Ahana you bring yourself down thinking that Rajeev did this all because of you. That you are at fault but not sweetheart you aren't. Infact your the biggest victim of his crimes baby. So please think of yourself as well don't think as it is okay that he cheated you because it is not Okay"
Ahana nodded as she buried her face in Neil's chest trying to forget the subject. Some moments of silence stayed between the couple before the phone's ring tone broke the silence. Ahana sighs as she picked up her phone and answers the call.
Ahana:"Hello?"
Rajeev:"Ahana"( She heard Rajeev's voice from the other end freezing her on her spot while Neil looked on confused )
