Nika POV
Hurrying my way to my place, I called Tate to tell her I would come pick her up soon.
"Hey, Nika. What's up?"
"Just wanted to let you know, I'm on my way home. I'll be there soon."
"Nika, I'm not at your place right now, I'm at Ava's."
"I thought you were staying at my place for the night?"
"I am, I just really needed to talk to her."
"Do you want me to come pick you up, I just gotta take a shower really quick?"
"Yeah, that'd be good. Hey, Niks?"
"Yeah, baby?"
"Can we talk later?'
"Of course, can I ask what about?"
"Can I tell you when you get here? Please."
Her voice was something I've never heard. She was stressed, and now she wanted to talk to me.
"Of course, baby. I'm on my way home, I'll be quick."
"Okay Niks, I love you."
"Love you too, Ta." I ended the call, racking my mind for something I could have done. She wanted to talk to me. I must've done something.
The ride back to my place was just low music in the background, my heart beating faster. I couldn't have done anything, there's no way.
I run into my dorm, quickly jumping in the shower to speed the process up. Once I'm done, I grab my keys, getting in my car yet again. I send a text to Tate telling her that I was heading her way. I stopped by Starbucks to grab her favorite drink.
I send her a quick text telling her that I was outside waiting, getting out to open the door for her once she came out.
"What's this for?" She smiled, easing my uneasiness.
"Just wanted to get it for you," I shrugged, trying seem chill. Which I was not.
Tate must've seen though it, "Nika, you didn't do anything, I just need to talk to you about something."
"Are you sure?"
"Yes, Niks."
She sits down in her seat, I shut the door and run to the driver's side, jumping in. Once I get in, before I can fully buckle myself in, Tate pulls my face close to hers. Our lips touch, I melt into the kiss.
"I love you Niks," she says under her breath.
"I love you too Ta," out foreheads rested on each other's, not wanting to move from that spot.
"What was that for?" I ask.
"I just want you to know I love you, and no matter what this person says, I'm always going to love you," I move away from her a little, shock evident on my face.
I shake my head, "What are you talking about?"
"Let me just tell you what's going on, okay?" I nod my head, urging her to continue.
"I got a text from a random number, I don't know who it is. Like, at all. They're just telling me this awful things about you."
I sigh, "Do you believe in any of them?"
"No," she shakes her head, "I mean, I had second thoughts but..."
"But what Tate?" I fold my arms, leaning back in the seat more.
"I had a little doubt, but I just think it's because everything has been so perfect with you. I thought something was gonna eventually happen, and than I realized you would never do that."
"Tate, what was the thing you questioned?"
"Nika..."
"Please just tell me, I just wanna tell you whatever it is, I would never do it," she nods her head, taking a deep breath in.
"They said you were cheating on me. I didn't wanna believe, and I don't, but everything was just going so perfect. My luck it was true, but I know that's wrong," she grabs for my hand, she's shaking.
"Hey, hey calm down. I'm not mad or anything. We'll figure out who's texting you, okay? Just know I love you, and I would never cheat on you, okay?" She nods, tears forming in her eyes, I pull her into a hug.
"I'm sorry, I should've told you when it started," she pulls back a little to look at me, "I love you Nika."
"I love you too, Ta," she pulls us close together again, no room between us, "Is it okay if I see the text. See if I can tell who it is by it?"
She nods, handing me her phone, "Yeah, yeah, um, they did say I would know who they are."
"Okay, anything else," I scroll through the messages, nothing but lies.
"No, they just said I wouldn't like you eventually basically and I end up with them," I could think of a couple people who would want to say things to Tate.
First, there's my ex, naheim, he wasn't happy when I broke up with him to get with a girl. Second, there's other ex's who would want to get back with me and they're jealous of Tate. Third, KK. She would easily break someone up if she wanted one of the two in the couple. And lastly, Caroline if she actually likes Tate as much as she says. Which she says is a lot, but she also says she's happy for me.
"So, can you tell?" I get a voice pulling me from my thoughts.
"Um, not really, but I do know someone who might know something," Tate's face twist in confusion, "If it's any of the people I think is, Paige would know so quick. It's like one of two talents she has."
"Dare I ask her other talents?"
"Tryna look hot on the court for edits," Tate burst into laughter, I smile.
"She doesn't actually try, does she?"
"Love, yes she does," I see her smile grow at the name.
"I like when you call me that," I smile.
"What? Love? But baby, I say I love you all the time?"
"I know, but I like hearing come out of your mouth, it's.... reassuring," my smile breaks a little, she must have some doubts still.
"Hey, every time I say 'i love you' I mean it, okay?"
She nods, her hand makes its way to my ponytail, "You're the best person to ever exist Nika."
"And you're the most perfect person to ever exist."

Tate POV
After telling Nika about the text, I felt the weight of the world fall off my shoulders. I couldn't believe how nice it would feel to tell her. Her reassuring words and movements. Whether it was a simple peck to the lips or her simple just hugging me, it meant everything to me. Knowing she wanted our relationship just as much as I did, I needed it.
We sat in her car for a couple more minutes, she explained to me everyone she thought would be the person behind the text.
"So there's my ex naheim, he's great, " sarcasm spewed from her mouth, "he felt as though I used him. I didn't by the way, he was becoming to much. I also realized I was gay."
I nod, wanting her to continue, "than there's a couple of guys I 'dated' during freshman year here," she put air quotations around the word date.
"By date, I mean say we're dating, not talk, a week later I would break up with them. It's crazy that I didn't know I was gay until recently."
"Anyone else that you think could do it?"
She nods, continuing, "Now, these two, I don't want them to be true. There's kk and Caroline. Kk is like obsessed with you, Caroline says she's in love with you."
I sit there for a second, "wait, kk I know. Carol though? When did she say that?"
"Actually when we first started going out. Like officially. She told me she was gonna ask you out if I never did. She said she's been in love with you, but she never wanted to ask you out."
"There's no way."
She smiles, "there's definitely a way, I mean, look at you. Glad I made you mine," she leans in to give me a kiss, I melt as soon as her lips touch mine.
I push her away, not really wanting too, "hey, so why do you believe Paige will be able to tell?"
She snickers, "well, she can pretty much tell if someone from the team does anything. That means, she'd be able to tell if someone on the team is texting you or not."
"This seems like a stretch?"
"Oh it definitely is. At least we got some direction though, right?"
"I guess so?"
"You ready to go, love?"
I blush, I'm literally never getting over that, "yeah, let's go."
