Chapter 31: Coach

I Was Enchanted to Meet YouWords: 6515

Tate POV

I couldn't understand what they were saying, but the car went silent. Nika's face pale, she told her. I was holding my breath, waiting to hear from the other side. Not a word in response. Nika's eyes found mine.

"She hung up," tears threatening to fall, she put her phone down.

"Nika, I'm so sorry," I pulled her into a hug. I couldn't believe it. They really just hung up.

"What if they never talk to me again? What if I have nowhere to go after college? What am I gonna do?" She began to break, her head sinking into my shoulder, her tears watering my shirt.

"Baby, I don't know, but I'm gonna try to help with everything. You can stay with me after college, we can stay in our place together, I promise you, I'm gonna do everything to help you."

She lifted her head, her cheeks soaked by her tears, "I love you."

"I love you too," I pressed a soft kiss to her lips, I'd do anything for her.

We just sat there, in each others arms. She'd stop crying, but break down the second she tried to talk about how she felt. I listened, I held her, and I would do much more. I couldn't stand to see her like this, heartbroken. My heart shattered for her. Her beautiful soul, her amazing personality, and just her overall. I couldn't stand her parents, no one should be able to hate her, ever.

"Hey, we need to get you ready for the game tonight. Niks?" She laid, head on my shoulder, asleep, "Baby, I need you to get up, okay?"

She groaned, but eventually lifted her head, "I don't want too."

"You're team needs you, Niks. As soon as you guys win this game, we'll pick up something for dinner, come back to the hotel, cuddle in each others arms, and fall asleep to the TV playing some random tv show no one watches.

She smiled slightly, "That would sound amazing," she paused, "If we do it now."

I rolled my eyes, "Nope, imma need a win first, babe."

She groaned, "Fine, but only because I need all those things."

"And you will get them," I open the car door, "If you win."

She grinned from ear to ear, "Of course, only for you, bebo."

Nika POV

I'm angry, to say the least. My parents couldn't even give me their thoughts. They just hung up. Well, time to use it in the game. I needed this win, I needed something to go my way. The only thing keeping me going right now is Tate. So, that's who I'll play for tonight. I mean, I play for her every night, but tonight was just for her.

"Hey, hot basketball player," Tate smiled from behind the bench, "I'm looking for my extremely hot model girlfriend."

"Hmm, let me see," I pretended to look around, "I don't see somebody of that description, very beautiful bystander."

"Well," She made her way around, knowing she wasn't allowed to, "I think you fit it pretty well."

"Sorry, I'm already taken," I hold up my hands, her rolling her eyes, "I've got this gorgeous, talented, sweet, kind, oh, did I say gorgeous, girlfriend at home."

"Just kiss me you dork," I did. My hands falling to her waist, hers playing with my ponytail. I captured her lips in mine, deepening it so slightly.

She pulled away, I send her a smirk, "You seemed desperate. I thought I might give you a little more than a kiss."

She slapped my arm, "Nika! Oh my god," I laughed, pulling her into a hug.

"Thank you for being here," She sighed.

"Nika, I would go anywhere for you," She paused, "How you holdin' up?"

"I'm just, I guess, angry. Not really sad anymore, it is what it is," I let out a deep breath.

"Baby, it shouldn't be this way," Her fingers rubbed my cheekbone, sending a shiver down my neck, "I just can't understand not being in love with you to some capacity."

I chuckle, "And I couldn't imagine not being utterly in love with you."

She giggled, causing her to cover her mouth, "I did not just do that."

"I really do got you giggling and kicking your feet, huh?"

"Shut up, Nika."

"Never."

"Uh, Tate," Tate spun around to find Geno standing there, arms crossed, "No fans, or girlfriends, on the court."

"Oh, yeah, sorry about that," She turned back to look at me, "I love you, play hard for me?"

"Of course, bebo, always," She pecked my lips, "I love you, Tate."

She blew me a kiss, now it was time to play.

Tate POV

The Huskies win! Thank God. I think Nika needed it; 6 assists, 7 rebounds, 6 points. She did amazing. So, I waited for her outside the locker rooms, just waiting to jump into her arms.

"I don't know about that Paig-" She cut herself off after seeing me, "Bebo, we got the win!"

She ran into my arms, "I know, I was so happy for you guys. The team did good, mainly you though."

"You're only saying that cause she's all you look at," Paige interrupted.

"And? She's fun to look at," Nika smiled, Paige rolled her eyes.

"Yeah, listen to my girl. I'm more than fun to look at," I raised a brow, her leaning down into my ear, "It's fun to do more than just look at me, right baby?"

"Nika," She raised her head, a smile taking place.

"And what can I do for my amazing girlfriend?"

"Are you trying to be cute or hot?"

"Can't I be both?"

"No," Her smile dropped to a smirk, her hand finding my waist.

"Hot it is then. I like the way it makes you look at me," She started placing kisses on my neck, on my jawline.

"Uh, Nika?"

"Hmm," the vibrations sent chills down my body.

"Geno's walking towards us," She quickly distances herself from me, a small laugh leaving my lips.

"Can y'all wait 'til you get a room? Anyway, here's your phone, Nika. Looks like someone was trying to call you," Her face red, she took the phone, thanking him.

"Thank you," He nodded.

"Thank me by getting yourselves a room to do all, that, kinda stuff in," Mine and Nika's face flushed red, even more than before.

"Okay, coach," Finally, he left.

Nika was just staring at her phone, I wondered why, "What's wrong, Niks?"

"My mom was trying to call me."

My eyes widened, "What? Why?"

She shrugged, "Let me call her back."

"Are you sure?"

"Yeah, maybe they have good things to say."

I didn't want to say they were going to say bad things, but I didn't get a good feeling.

"Okay, if you want to."

"I do."

A/N:  this was a lot shorter then I wanted it to be, but I just can't pinpoint where I wanted it to go. So, enjoy the ride that both you and me are on right now.

Also, I'm up at 12:30 writing this, and i have to be up at 5:30 to start getting ready for my senior yearbook pictures. Imma die at this point from never getting sleep.

Anyways...

Peace y'all, 'til the next chapter...
