On the other hand,
Taehyung turned on the stove in the Jeon mansion's kitchen, quickly preparing a light breakfast tailored for the still-recovering duo.
As he plated two servings, the faint sound of footsteps behind him caught his attention.
"Taehyung, please get me a glass of water," Jungkook's weak voice broke through the quiet.
Taehyung turned swiftly, his heart sinking at the sight of Jungkook sitting on the kitchen counter, looking pale and exhausted. He rushed to fill a glass of water and set it down in front of him.
"Are you alright, Mr. Jeon?" Taehyung asked, his voice filled with concern as his eyes scanned Jungkook's face.
Without waiting for a response, Taehyung placed a cool hand on Jungkook's forehead to check his temperature. Jungkook, despite being unwell, found himself strangely comforted by the vampire's touch.
Even though Taehyung's hands were naturally cold, there was an unexplainable warmth in his care that made Jungkook relax.
"I'm alright, Taehyung. The fever's gone-it's just my head that hurts a little," Jungkook reassured, holding up the medicine in his hand as proof.
Taehyung sighed in relief, his worried expression softening. "Gosh, you made me worried."
Noticing Jungkook's slightly drained posture, Taehyung slid a steaming bowl of breakfast in front of him. "Mr. Jeon, please finish your meal. I'll feed Jaybum in the meantime," he instructed, already moving toward the other plate.
But then, as if recalling something crucial, he turned back with a strict tone.
"And don't even think about stepping into the office today! I've already informed Namjoon-hyung. He'll handle everything.
You're going to rest. Am I understood?" Taehyung's stern voice left no room for argument, making him sound more like a teacher than a caretaker.
Jungkook blinked at him, momentarily taken aback, before nodding obediently. "Yes, Taehyung," he said softly, almost amused by how serious Taehyung sounded.
Taehyung entered the room where Jaybum lay curled up on the bed, his cheeks flushed from the fever. The little one whimpered as Taehyung approached with a bowl of light porridge.
"Jaybum-ah," Taehyung called gently, kneeling beside him. "You need to eat a little, bun.
It'll make you feel better."
Jaybum shook his head weakly, burying his face into the cushion. "No, TaeTae... I don't want it..." he mumbled, his voice soft but stubborn.
Taehyung chuckled softly, setting the bowl down on the side table. He gently stroked Jaybum's hair, his voice soothing. "I know you don't feel like it, bun, but your TaeTae made this just for you. If you eat, I promise you'll feel stronger."
Jaybum peeked at him through watery eyes, still frowning. "Really?"
"Really," Taehyung said with a warm smile, scooping a small spoonful and blowing on it to cool it down. "Here, just one bite, okay?"
After some coaxing, Jaybum finally opened his mouth, albeit reluctantly. Taehyung fed him patiently, repeating the same process of blowing on each spoonful and encouraging him softly.
Jaybum fussed every now and then, turning his head or whining, but Taehyung remained calm, never rushing him. "You're doing so well, bun. Just a little more, okay?" he whispered, his voice laced with endless care.
By the time the bowl was half empty, Jaybum's frown had softened, and he leaned into Taehyung's hand as if seeking more comfort.
"There's my good boy," Taehyung said, planting a light kiss on Jaybum's forehead. "Now, just rest, and TaeTae will stay right here."
Jaybum stirred lightly, adjusting his small arms around Taehyung's waist as he fell into a deeper sleep. Taehyung sat still, his hand resting protectively on the boy's back, his gaze soft and full of warmth.
Jungkook entered quietly, his footsteps barely audible and his eyes immediately sought his son. "How's he?" Jungkook asked in a hushed tone, careful not to disturb the peaceful moment.
Taehyung looked up at him and whispered, "His fever is down. He just needs rest now."
Jungkook nodded, relief washing over his features, but it was fleeting. He moved to the side of the bed, sitting down with his back to Taehyung.
His large hands tenderly combed through Jaybum's hair, then cupped his son's small face with so much care it made Taehyung's heart ache.
Jungkook's shoulders tensed slightly, his hand trembling as he brushed away a stray curl from Jaybum's forehead. "I've called the doctor for a final check-up," he murmured, his voice low but steady.
Taehyung nodded silently, observing how Jungkook's thumb lingered on Jaybum's cheek, the pain in his movements clear. He didn't miss the glassy sheen in Jungkook's eyes, catching the faint glimmer of unshed tears under the dim morning light.
Jungkook exhaled shakily, his jaw tightening as he blinked the tears away. He refused to let them fall, not now-not when his son was resting peacefully.
Taehyung noticed but chose not to comment, understanding the silent battle Jungkook fought to hold himself together.
Timeskip -
The family doctor worked swiftly, his movements careful and precise as he examined a drowsy Jaybum.
Taehyung and Jungkook stood silently at the bedside, their gazes fixed on the boy. Jungkook's arms were crossed tightly over his chest, his worry palpable, while Taehyung remained calm yet attentive, offering a quiet strength.
When the doctor finished, he straightened and motioned for them to step outside. Taehyung lingered by the door, letting Jungkook speak first.
"Doctor, how is he?" Jungkook asked, his voice low but urgent as they stepped into the hallway.
The doctor gave him a reassuring smile. "He's alright, Alpha Jeon. There's no need to worry. The fever has run its course. He's just a little drained. Let him rest, keep him hydrated, and don't stay under the rain for too long."
Jungkook nodded but stayed quiet, his jaw tightening. His mind swirled with thoughts, his guilt from the rain-filled evening mingling with relief that Jaybum was safe now.
He looked lost in his own world, unable to shake the weight of worry for his son.
The doctor placed a comforting hand on Jungkook's shoulder and said....
"Don't dwell too much on this, Jungkook-ah. Jaybum is strong. Jay's blood runs inside him, and you know very well how much of a fighter Jay was."
