"Hyung ,you start unpacking, I'll get the groceries " Taehyung said as he picked up his wallet.
Yoongi as a reply nodded his head with a smile.
Taehyung wanted to cook a big meal for Namjoon. Thus grocery was a well need for that.
The bustling streets of the new town were unfamiliar, but Taehyung moved with purpose, his phone in hand and the map guiding him.
He was on a mission to get groceries for a big meal he planned to prepare for Namjoon,a small gesture to thank his brother-figure for helping him settle in.
Though the town was new, Taehyung's sharp vampire senses made navigating easier.
By the time he reached the store, he was mindlessly scanning for the freshest vegetables and the best cuts of meat, his heightened senses ensuring he picked only the finest.
With his shopping complete, Taehyung made his way back home, confident now in his route.
But as he cut through a quiet alley, he stopped abruptly. A small child stood in the middle of the pathway, crying his heart out. The sight made Taehyung's chest tighten.
He approached slowly, crouching down to meet the boy's eye level. "Hey, little guy, why are you crying?" he asked softly, his voice gentle.
The boy, however, said nothing, his cries only growing louder. Taehyung frowned, unsure of what to do, but he refused to walk away.
"Okay, okay," Taehyung soothed, glancing around for any sign of the child's guardian. "Do you know where your parents are? Your appa? Eomma? Anyone?"
The mention of his father made the boy cry even harder. "Dadda! I want Dadda!" he wailed.
Taehyung didn't hesitate. He reached out and gently embraced the child, rubbing soothing circles on his back.
"It's okay, it's okay. We'll find your dadda," he promised, pulling out a chocolate bar from his shopping bag. "Here, have this."
The boy sniffled, his cries easing as he stared at the chocolate. Hesitantly, he took it, his small hands clutching the bar as he calmed down.
Taehyung smiled at the sight. "What's your name, munchkin?" he asked, playfully pinching the boy's cheek.
"Jaybum," the boy whispered shyly, his face still streaked with dried tears.
"Jaybum?" Taehyung gasped dramatically. "What a beautiful name for such a handsome little guy! I'm Kim Taehyung."
Jaybum giggled, momentarily distracted from his earlier distress. But Taehyung's heart sank when he asked, "Why are you here alone? Where's your dadda?"
Jaybum hesitated before answering softly, "Dadda is in the office. I was with our babysitter... but she left me."
Taehyung's jaw clenched at the thought of someone abandoning this child. He quickly masked his anger with a reassuring smile. "Don't worry, we'll find your dadda together."
"Really?" Jaybum asked, his teary eyes wide with hope.
"Of course," Taehyung said confidently. "Do you know your dadda's phone number or address?"
Jaybum shook his head. "No..i don't .."
There was a good scilence before Jaybum spoke again,"but.....Uncle Chimmy lives nearby. I got lost trying to find him."
Taehyung nodded. "Alright, then. Let's find Uncle Chimmy's house, okay?"
The search took longer than Taehyung anticipated, mostly because Jaybum, at just three years old, struggled to recognize landmarks.
But Taehyung remained patient, his determination unwavering. Finally, they arrived at a quaint little house with a neatly kept front yard.
Jaybum ran ahead, knocking on the door with his tiny fists. Taehyung stepped up and pressed the doorbell, making sure to stay until he was certain the boy was safe.
The door opened to reveal a man in his late twenties, his aura warm and inviting. Taehyung's sharp senses immediately identified him as an omega.
"Uncle Chimmy!" Jaybum cried, throwing himself into the man's arms.
"Jaybum? Bun, what are you doing here?" Jimin asked, crouching down to hug the boy tightly.
Taehyung stood silently by the door, watching the interaction.
Relief washed over him as he confirmed that Jaybum was indeed in the right hands.
"Lina noona left me in the middle of the road," Jaybum explained, his voice trembling. "But Tae Tae brought me here!" He pointed toward Taehyung, his small face lighting up as he spoke.
Jimin stood, his eyes filled with gratitude as he extended a hand toward Taehyung. "Oh my god, thank you so much for bringing him here. I don't even know how to thank you!"
Taehyung, caught off guard by the sudden display of gratitude, quickly composed himself and shook Jimin's hand. "You don't have to mention it. I just did what was right."
Jimin smiled warmly. "Why don't you come inside? Have some snacks with us."
Taehyung hesitated, glancing at his bag of groceries. "I'd love to, but I need to get back home. There's so much I have to prepare."
Understanding, Jimin nodded. "Do you live nearby? I haven't seen you around before."
"Yeah, we just moved in today. We live four blocks down the road," Taehyung explained.
Jimin nodded again, filing the information away. "Well, thank you again, Mr..."
"Kim Taehyung," Taehyung said, introducing himself with a polite smile.
Jimin returned the smile. "Park Jimin."
Taehyung crouched down to Jaybum's level one last time. "Take care, munchkin. Be good, okay?"
Jaybum giggled as Taehyung pinched his cheek again, though his smile faltered as he watched Taehyung walk away. Clinging to Jimin's leg, he waved at the vampire's retreating figure.
Jimin murmured the name under his breath, his gaze lingering. "Taehyung..."
