Menu My eyes widened in disbelief as Axel spoke. How could he say such a thing? It wasnât possible. My brother, who carried so much pride and strength, would never submit to anyone. Why would Axel lie about this?
âWhat? Magnus submitted to Kane? Why would he do that?â my father demanded, his tone echoing the same disbelief that churned inside me.
Axel gave a slow, solemn nod in response. The weight of his words hung in the air, but even as I struggled to process them, I couldnât ignore how battered and broken his body looked.
I gripped his hand firmly and signaled for our theta to help me. Together, we guided Axel to sit down on the couch.
As he sank into the cushions, his eyes drifted to my babies resting nearby.
âHow are they?â he asked softly, his voice tinged with concern.
For a moment, I glanced at them, unsure how to respond. My mind was spinning, overwhelmed by the chaos of the situation.
âAxel, my dear, please tell us everything clearly,â my mother urged, desperation evident in her voice. Her eyes searched his face, seeking answers to the impossible. âWhy would Magnus make such a monumental decision?â
Submitting to another Alpha during a war wasnât just an act of surrenderâit was a declaration that the position of head Alpha now belonged to them.
Axel inhaled deeply, his hand resting over his bandaged ribs as he prepared to explain.
âWhen we went into the forest, we discovered Kane had crossed our boundary,â he began, his voice low and strained. âBut the information we had was wrong. He didnât bring five hundred wolves with him as we thought. He came alone. And... his intention wasnât to fight usâhe came to help.â
He paused, his breath hitching, and I immediately went to the nightstand. I grabbed a glass of water and handed it to him.
His hand trembled as he accepted the glass. Taking a large sip, he steadied himself before continuing.
âOur pack fighters began engaging with the Nightfall Packâs fighters. But through the mind link, they kept telling us they werenât here to fightâthey were here to help. Magnus didnât believe them. He thought it was a trick, that they would betray us. So, he declared an order: no fighter from the Nightfall Pack was to leave the battlefield alive.â
Axelâs voice grew heavier as he recounted the events. âIt was a declaration of war straight from the head Alpha. Our fighters had no choice but to follow his command.â
From the very start of the battle, our target had been Kane and his highâranking officials. But something changed when Magnus encountered Kane faceâtoâface.
Axel paused, his eyes shutting tightly as though the memory itself caused him pain. I leaned forward, my heart racing.
âAxel, please,â I urged. âYou have to remember. We need to know what happened.â
He coughed lightly before exhaling deeply. His gaze shifted from my parents to me, and then he spoke )10:23 69.5%

âMagnus fought Kane,â he said, his voice barely above a whisper.
âThey fought?â I repeated, the shock evident in my voice.
Meny âYes. Even though Magnus wasnât in the best health, he fought with everything he had to protect the pack. But the fight didnât last long. Kane stopped it.â
âStopped it?â I asked, confused.
Axel nodded. âKane told Magnus he had come to helpâhe knew about the attack and wanted to pre vent it. He didnât want bloodshed between our packs.â
I furrowed my brows, still not understanding. âIf he wanted to stop the war, why didnât he?â
Axelâs expression darkened. âHe didnât have the chance. Before he could declare his intentions, Alpha Hunter launched a surprise attack on our pack with an overwhelming number of fighters. We had no choice but to fight to protect ourselves.â
My stomach churned with guilt. Was this all because of me? If I had agreed to Alpha Hunterâs proposal... would this have been avoided? But how could I marry someone I didnât love?
âWhy did Magnus submit to Kane?â I asked firmly, needing to understand.
Axelâs voice cracked as he answered, âKane was furious when he realized how many of his fighters had died because of our attack. If he wanted to, he couldâve killed Magnus right then and there. But something happened between themâa moment of understanding. I donât know the details, but Magnus chose to hand the pack over to Kane rather than let it fall into Hunterâs hands.â
Axel hesitated, his voice faltering. âThereâs more. Magnus learned somethingâsomething he wanted to tell you. But he didnât get the chance because of the attack. He only managed to say one thing to me before it all happened.â
My throat tightened, and tears welled in my eyes. âWâWhat was it?â I whispered, barely able to speak through the lump in my throat.
Axel sighed deeply, his face etched with sorrow. âHe told me to tell you... âDonât trust anyone.ââ
