Chapter 32 After hanging up, I let out a heavy sigh.
The cabin fell silent as I set Axelâs phone on the desk. Resting my palms on the surface, I contemplated visiting Kaneâs father, Alpha Garrett. A return to that pack seemed inevitable now.
âAre you sure about going there? It could be dangerous. I donât trust that guy,â Axel said.
âIâll be fine, donât worry.â
âAt least let me drive you,â he offered warmly.
âThanks, but no. Iâm going to visit his father, not start drama. Having you there would only make things worse.â
âHow will you get there then?â
âTheir pack borders ours. I can drive myself.â
That evening, I wrapped up work early. Leaving the cabin, I headed to the lobby where employees were heading home for the day. Rachel approached me with a surprised smile. âSelene! Youâre leaving early for once!â
It was unusual â I typically stayed late at the office, putting in extra hours to prepare for my upcoming CEO position. Her surprise made sense.
âGot something to take care of at home, so I figured Iâd head out early today,â I explained.
As we walked toward the entrance, Rachel nodded. âI noticed your birthday present from your brother outside â that sleek white car.â
I turned to her. âKeep an eye on my current project. I wonât be in tomorrow.â
Rachel looked startled. âOh? Going somewhere?â
She immediately covered her mouth, realizing she might have overstepped by asking such a personal question.
I could see her nervousness â it came with my position as the Head Alphaâs sister and the former Lunaâs daughter. Taking her hand, I gave her a warm smile. âItâs fine, Rachel. Iâll be gone briefly. Just keep things running here while Iâm away.â
Her eyes brightened at my friendly response. âOf course! Donât worry about anything â enjoy your vacation!â
I raised an eyebrow at her assumption but didnât correct it. Let her think what she wanted.
After saying goodbye, I headed to my car where the driver held the back door open. Once inside, I sank into the seat.
I planned to leave for the Nightfall Pack tonight, but first, I needed to talk with my father.
As soon as we pulled up to the pack house, I went straight to his office. After knocking and hearing his response, I entered to find both my parents sitting close together on the couch.
âMom, Dad. Good, youâre both here,â I said, walking toward them.
âI know what this is about,â my father said.

I mentally thanked Axel for saving me the explanation.
âI want to leave tonight,â I said, expecting resistance.
My father remained quiet for a moment, and I glanced at my equally silent mother.
Finally, Dad sighed. âSelene, you know we canât bear to lose you again, right?â
âDad, Iâll be fine.â
âIf youâre set on going, we wonât stop you. But if anything feels off, call Magnus immediately.â
I couldnât help but laugh at his icy tone. My usually pleasant father turned fierce whenever Kane was involved.
My familyâs hatred for Kane ran deep.
âI will, Dad.â
Standing up, I said, âI need to see Luna and Leo.â
âNot before dinner with us,â Mom interjected.
âOkay, Mom.â
I headed to my childrenâs room, finding Luna on her bed, focused on drawing.
Sitting beside her, I said, âLuna, mom needs to go somewhere.â
âWhere to, Mom?â she asked, not looking up from her artwork.
âA place called Nightfall Pack. You wouldnât know it.â
Her hand froze midâstroke, and she looked up at me.
âDid you say Nightfall Pack, Mom?â
I nodded, noting her sudden interest.
She smiled. âMom, will you see that handsome uncle there?â
