Chapter 4 Selene +5Bonus >
Menu I woke up in a hospital room, my last memory being a sharp pain in my stomach. Panicked, my hand flew to my belly.
âDonât worry,â Dr. Winters said from nearby. âThe babies are perfectly fine.â
I turned to see him reviewing what looked like medical charts.
âDid... did Kane bring me here?â I asked hesitantly.
He set the papers down on the bedside table and walked over. âYes, but he left already.â
âDoes he know?â I tried to keep the fear out of my voice.
âNot unless you told him.â
I let out a relieved breath, my body relaxing. Then a troubling thought hit me.
As the pack hospitalâs chief physician, Dr. Winters was close to Kane. There was a good chance he might mention my pregnancy to Kane eventually.
âDr. Winters, could I ask you something?â
âOf course.â
âPlease donât tell Kane about the babies.â
He raised his eyebrows. âYou havenât told him yet?â
âNo, and I never will.â
âBut Selene, theyâre Kaneâs heirs. The future of this pa-â
âNo. Heâll never accept them. I need to protect them from him. Please, if you want to keep them safe, donât tell him.â
After an uncomfortably long pause, he nodded, his worried frown saying more than words could. âAlright,â he conceded. âBut heâs bound to find out eventually.â
âIâm leaving the pack,â I said.
His eyes widened before he composed himself. âThat would make you a rogue. Itâs dangerous.â
âYes, but I have no choice.â
He shook his head. âSelene, you need to be extremely careful, especially now.â
âI know. But itâs better than staying here in danger and pain.â
After leaving the hospital, I looked for Kaneâs car â the one heâd let me use over the years â but couldnât find it. Without my phone, I couldnât call a ride service. Fortunately, I spotted a taxi and flagged it down.
When I told the driver to take me to the pack house, fear flickered in his eyes. âThe pack house?â he asked doubtfully, clearly worried about whether anyone was allowed there.
I calmly repeated my request.
At the main gate, security stopped us for inspection. They bowed when they recognized me, surprising 08:44 4.63%

#Menu The gates opened, and the driver, clearly excited, drove up the long driveway to the mansionâlike pack house where Kaneâs parents lived. I understood his aweâIâd felt the same way once. Every pack member dreamed of visiting this place at least once.
It was hard to believe Iâd be leaving it behind.
When we stopped, guards rushed to open my door. Only then did I realize I had no cash. One of the guards paid the fare, and I thanked him before heading inside.
The house staff bowed and showed me to the living room.
âWhereâs Alpha Kane?â I asked. âPlease tell him I need to speak with him urgently,â
The servant went upstairs to find him.
While waiting, Alpha Garrett Thorne, Kaneâs father, came down the stairs. Despite being in his late forties, he looked strong enough to lead the pack for another decade.
I stood and bowed. âAlpha.â
Alpha Thorne had always been kind to me. He often praised my generosity and management skills, believing I was the best match for Kane.
âDear Selene, why do you look so troubled? Has Kane been mistreating you again? Iâll set that boy straight today,â he said, his voice thick with anger.
âWeâre getting divorced, Alpha,â I said quickly, hoping to prevent any confrontation.
His eyes went wide with shock. I understood â this wasnât news anyone expected.
Since pack members needed both the Alpha and Lunaâs presence to formally leave the pack, I added, âIâ need Luna here too.â
