being back to school after new years, it felt almost awkward. almost everybody who went to the party saw nate jacobs get his ass beat. and if they weren't there or didn't see it happen, they saw the videos that had been sent around school or posted. however, liani was only just now seeing it, after juliet showed her the video she recorded. liani was only a little surprised about the fact fezco would do that, even after threatening him and then getting raided. but she believed fezco deserved it, just hoped he or his family wouldn't do anything to fezco in return.
other than the whole nate-fezco fight, rue had a new friend.
liani and juliet were standing not too far away from rue, who was leaning on lockers. liani hasn't spoken to rue since new years, and decided to go up to her. "hey, rue." she spoke, while juliet followed behind her and stood by her side, giving rue a small wave.
rue greeted both of them back, the three making small conversation until it was cut short when a boy came and stood by rue. liani recognized the boy as the one from the new year's party. she nodded her head at him, and he slightly smiled at her and turned to rue as if he was waiting to be introduced.
rue opened her mouth a little, before nodding. "oh, uhh, this is liani and juliet, juliet and liani, this is elliot.. my friend." she introduced the three.
liani nodded, "yeah, i saw you at new years."
"what's the apple tattoo for?" juliet asked.
juliet poked out her bottom lip, nodding her head. she kept her eyes on elliot as liani spoke to rue, telling her that she would talk to her sometime and that rue could text her if she needed anything. juliet noticed how elliot seemed to be checking liani out, which made her smirk a little. she knew liani was practically in love with ashtray, but it would be fun to tease elliot if the four ever hung out.
"so, how old are y'all?" elliot asked the two, juliet and liani.
"fifteen." the both answered.
he slowly nodded, that being his only response. before too long, liani said bye to elliot as well and walked off with juliet right behind her.
"i think he has a crush on you." juliet told liani.
liani turned to her with her eyebrows furrowed, "why?"
"he was looking you up and down." she smirked, exaggerating it.
liani laughed, she only shook her head. no matter if elliot did or didn't have a crush on her, it wouldn't matter. liani thought elliot had a little crush on rue, and liani herself was more than happy with ashtray.
liani was standing next to faye, fezco had introduced the two earlier in the day and liani was now listening to faye tell her about what happened the night of new years, why she's staying with fezco.
"the manger?" liani widened her eyes.
faye nodded slowly, "yep."
ashtray watched the two talk from behind the freezer door, he was sat on the table with his back leaned against the wall. he didn't like how it seemed liani was getting along with faye when he practically hated her.
all three, ashtray, faye, and liani turned the heads with fezco spoke. "lexi howard."
a smile came to lianis face, her remembering when she saw the two talking at the new year's party. it was obvious the two had a crush on each other, and she now wondered if they would end up together.
"hi." lexi smiled as she crossed her hands behind her back.
"how you doin?" fezco asked her.
"i'm good. umâ" her eyes traveled back to me and faye, i gave her a small smile while faye put her hand up, "hi, i'm faye."
"i'm lexi. um, are- are you guys.." she moved back and forth, as a way of asking if the two were together.
liani shook her head at how she now looked awkward, and hoped fezco could reassure her that him and faye weren't at all together.
"yeah, no. she's just staying with me for bit. but- but, she's cool though." fezco replied, "what brings you out here, anyway?"
liani glanced at faye who kept a small smile on her face as she looked at fezco and lexi talk, and sighed.
"oh, i just came to get a- a drink." lexi obviously lied, moving to look at the alcohol in the freezers behind her.
"okay. well, we got plenty of those." fezco spoke, making liani chuckle. "uh, do you need help finding anything?"
"no, i'm okay." lexi simply answered.
"oh, uh, that's the malt liquor.." he told her.
"yeah, i know." she replied, before looking over at the entrance of the store when a car door closed.
both faye and liani turned their head as well, watching cal jacobs walk up to the store. liani shook her head at the sight.
"yo, sorry i didn't get to say goodbye on new years." fezco apologized to lexi, unaware of cals presence.
"good evening." cal spoke, his eyes landing on lexi after fezco.
"sup, man?"
liani watched fezco glance at lexi and ashtray behind the freezer glass, before she turned to look at cal who picked up a bag of chips. the store was now silent, there was some weird tension and it was making her cringe.
"you got any spearmint gum?"
"ion know, man. gums right here."
"this your store?"
"it's a family business."
"your parents own it?"
"you usually ask this much questions, man?"
"just you."
"she tell you who i am?" cal nodded his head in lexis direction, making lianis eyebrows furrow in confusion.
"nah, man." fezco answered.
"are you a cop?" faye asked, making liani nudge her and shake her head as she tried to hold back her laugh.
"no." cal answered, turning to look at faye, liani and lexi.
he reached in his pocket and there was a clicking sound, which made lianis eyebrows raise. her eyes moved towards the freezers once there was sounds, she knew ashtray was doing something, and she was mentally preparing herself for some kind of shoot out.
a few seconds after the sound of another gun cocked, cal started slowly pulling his hand out of his jacket pocket.
liani as well as pretty much everyone, eased as cal only pulled out a twenty dollar bill. he walked forward and placed it near fezco, "just a concerned father."
liani scoffed, throwing her head back. her eyes followed fezco as he followed cal out the door, watching him get in his truck and speed off.
"you okay, ash?" liani asked as the two were not sat in his room. as far as liani knew, her mom was still home and ashtray didn't want liani to be there with her alone, as there was a chance of her mother hurting her again. so the two have been at his house, and if liani was at her house, ashtray was also with her.
ashtray shook his head, "nah, im worried bout fez."
