liani and ashtray had been together for months now. neither of the two had said anything about celebrating the fact or anything like that, they just.. knew. ashtray didn't have many friends, and most of time was spent with liani. he didn't have a lot of friends growing up, and even now he didn't spend time with any of them because he felt the need to be not too far away from fezco, he wanted to be there if fezco ever needed him. which is why he was happy liani enjoyed staying over at his house, hanging out at the store. and he also liked the fact she liked to have fun, she never pressured him into doing anything she wanted to, but if he ever did, she would include him.
the two had problems of their own, their own things they needed deal with. but even with that, they always made sure to think about the others problems. ashtray would always keep an eye on liani when she was drinking, or if she was out with her friends he would text or call to make sure she was okay. or with her mom, he would occasionally ask if she had showed up home. and liani, she never really asked about what ashtray did. she was around him practically all the time, she made sure to take notice to his mood and the things he and fezco would talk about, but she would never ask too much. there wasn't much she could do about ashtrays problems, all she could do was try to be by his side and help if she could.
liani believed she was in love with ashtray. she wasn't scared to tell him, just more afraid of saying it making it become a real thing. it would mean that ashtrays her first love, she hated those. she always thought they ended in a huge heartbreak and that they just stuck with you, even if you move on from both the person and the heartbreak.
ashtray, he didn't know what it felt like to be in love. he knew what it meant to love someone, he loves fezco. ashtray had a fare share of girlfriends in his life time, they didn't last long, though and he was for sure that he never fell in love with any of them. liani, she brought new experiences to him and made him feel happy and loved even after the things he did, and she knew about. ashtray could say that he loved liani, he did. could he say he's in love with her? most likely.
liani was sat next to sam, along with juliet who was on the other side of him. the three, as well as a couple of their other friends were sitting around a broken down playground.
liani had her back against a slide, as she watched two of her friends dance, and stop occasionally to take a shot of whatever liquor they had brought.
she had only taken one shot, sam had told her he didn't think it was a could idea for her to take more than that, as she wasn't a good drunk.
the truth is, after the last time they had hung out and she ended up running off after he dropped her off at home, he was afraid of the things she might do while drunk. and he would never say it to her face, but he believed she was being some kind of alcoholic.
liani and juliet both turned their heads in a different direction as they heard a familiar voice, followed by an unfamiliar one. they had all been waiting for one of their friends to show up, but they were sort of confused when she had a girl they had never saw before right next to her.
liani smiled, giving her a welcoming smile.
their friend waved to everyone, before wrapping her arm around the red head she brought along with her. "this is catalina."
liani waved at her, "hi, i'm liani."
catalina waved back, a smile resting on her face.
liani thought the girl was beautiful, her red hair was slightly wavy and she had glitter all around her eyes. she watched as her friend and catalina sat not too far away from her, before catalina was left alone when her friend went to go talk to the two were were now dancing again.
she turned her head a little to juliet, who was now sitting next to her instead of sam. "we should talk to her."
juliet glanced over at the girl who was sitting sort of awkwardly alone, and nodded. the two stood, walking over to her and sat not too close by her.
"i'm juliet." juliet greeted.
catalina smiled at her, "hi."
the three quickly made conversation, liani was happy that the three got along so well, so quickly. catalina told them some things about her, and liani and juliet did the same. before no time, the three exchanged numbers and were all sitting together as music played from sams truck and their friends were all talking or dancing, or taking shots.
the sun was setting, meaning it would be getting dark before too long.
liani side eyed catalina as she stuck in her in her jacket pocket, slowly brining it out a small pill rested on her palm. she watched as she girl grabbed a water bottle sam had handed her not too long ago, before putting the pill in her mouth and then washing it down with the water.
catalina turned in her direction, she realized she saw her do it. "have you ever taken pills, or done any drug?" she asked her, pulling her knees up to her chest and hugging them close.
liani nodded, "yeah."
"you wanna try?" cat asked her, referring to one of the other pills she had in her pocket.
lianis mouth opened slightly as she thought, before she shrugged, "sure."
catalina gave her a small smile, before digging in her pocket and bringing out another pill, she put it on lianis palm, along with handing her the water she had.
liani copied exactly what cat did, putting the pill in her mouth and then washing it down with water. she gave her water back, leaning her back on the pole she sat in front of.
it wasn't long before the pill started kicking in, liani started feeling dizzy and her head was hurting. she meant to ask catalina what the pill was, and what it would do to her, but she forgot to as she was pulled up by juliet and the three, her, catalina and juliet were all running around in the field by the broken down playground.
liani put her arms in front of her to catch her balance, she stopped running and put a hand on her head as she felt like she was going to faint.
"you okay?" juliet asked her, coming next to her and grabbing her hand.
"uh, yeah.. justâ just dizzy." liani spoke.
juliet didn't believe her, though. and she was grateful that just them sam yelled that he needed to take them home now. juliet kept ahold on lianis hand, and she helped her walk over to sams truck.
"um, sam, lianis gonna come to my house, so just take us there." juliet told him as he started his truck.
he glanced back at the two, and nodded. juliet's house was the first place he went.
liani and juliet all said bye to everyone, before juliet helped liani out of the truck and to her house.
"liani, i haven't seen you in so long!" juliet's mom exclaimed when the front door opened.
"yeah- i've been.. kind of busy." liani nervously chuckled.
"mom, she isn't feeling well so she's gonna stay the night, okay?" juliet asked.
"okay." her mom nodded, watching the two walk away.
juliet sat her down on her bed, watching as liani laid back with a sigh. "did you take anything, lani?"
"no." liani lied.
juliet laid next to her, she was tired, but she didn't want to fall asleep while liani was still awake.
liani looked over at her, "you can go to sleep, im fine."
juliet shook her head, but turned a little. with the silence in the room she started to fall asleep, but her eyes opened slightly as she felt liani stand up.
liani leaned over, she placed a kiss on juliet's forehead and gave her a reassuring smile. "i feel better, so i'm gonna go home, okay?"
juliet slowly nodded, "okay... i love you."
liani bit her lip, "yeah, i love you too."
she made her way out of juliet's house quietly, thankful her mother wasn't sitting on the couch anymore. she walked fast in the direction of her house, still feeling dizzy and afraid of walking alone in the night time.
the second she made it to her house she swung to door open. she was surprised to see her mom was still there, they made eye contact and liani slowly closed the door before dropping on the floor, her back leaned against the door.
"i look just like you, mom." liani mumbled out.
