Chapter 39: SIXTEEN

FOR YOU || ASHTRAYWords: 6917

lianis sixteenth birthday was today. she had woken up at noon from a call from her best friend, juliet singing happy birthday to her. she had her phone on silent while she was sleeping, so she didn't hear the many message she received from her friends and people that she wasn't even close to, telling her happy birthday. she took a few to rest through them and respond, before actually getting out of bed and eating.

she poured herself a bowl of cereal, walking back up the stairs to her room and sat at her desk, setting her phone up and calling juliet back.

the two talked about what they had finally planned for her birthday, and how'd it would all work out as the day went on.

it was liani, there was no way she wasn't going to throw a party for her birthday. but she made sure to tell juliet that she didn't want loads of people there, she was fine with just her friends coming and it being a small get together. since juliet had told liani to leave it up to her and catalina to set up the party, she'd be getting ready soon to start cleaning up her house and having it ready for the party.

she scanned through her closet until she found a red, sort of long dress that had a slit on the side. she decided on wearing that one, and quickly pulled it out of her closet, going over to her bathroom to shower.

liani had showered, gotten herself ready and was cleaning up her house. less than an hour ago juliet and catalina had arrived and had helped her clean up, before already setting up for the party they were throwing for her.

catalina was wearing a navy blue, sparkly dress, and juliet was wearing a brown, tight fitting fit dress.

by the time the three were done setting up the house for the party, the sun would be setting and people would be arriving.

as catalina started playing music on the loud speakers she had brung with her, she let out a smile and began dancing to it, she went to grab lianis hand but stopped as there was knocking at the door.

liani headed for the door, opening it to reveal sam and a few of her other friends. "happy birthday!" they all exclaimed, giving her a smile or bringing her into a hug.

before too long that's all liani was hearing, knocks at the door and then people shouting happy birthday at her. she had stopped answering the door awhile ago, as people was just letting themselves in now.

liani walked over to juliet who was standing next to monty by the alcohol bottles sitting on lianis kitchen counter. "i thought you only invited a few people?" liani asked juliet over the loud music.

"i did, i think catalina may have invited a few more, though." juliet laughed.

lianis house was filled with people, some she had never even met before and was confused when they would come up telling her happy birthday. she wasn't mad about it, though.

"happy birthday." monty smiled at her, giving her a nod.

"thanks romeo." liani smiled back, chuckling to herself as she walked off and headed for the couch. her arm was grabbed, before she was pulled into the middle of the living room where everyone was dancing, and she was met face to face with cat.

the girl smiled at liani, bringing her arms up into the air as she forced to to sway along with the music a little, "are you having fun being sixteen?" cat shouted over the music.

"i feel the same." liani shouted back, watching as catalina laughed and took a step back, grabbing a liquor bottle that sat on the table near them and bringing it back to liani.

she motioned for liani to put her head back, and liani did exactly that. she opened her mouth, letting catalina pour the liquid in it while people cheered for her. that was the first drink she had all night, surprisingly.

her face cringed as she almost chocked, drinking the alcohol before taking a step back and waving to catalina as she walked off. she walked towards the stairs, slowly walking up them as she looked around her house.

the whole night she had been glancing around to see if ashtray had showed, since she had invited fezco and told him to tell ashtray about it, as well. she was disappointed when she wasn't seeing him, and was worried that their small argument had really pissed him off.

she sat on the stairs, watching everyone dance. her eyes landed on a familiar ginger, and her eyes narrowed. fezco showed up, but she hadn't seen ashtray?

that upset her. she knew fezco would've came even if ashtray was too stubborn and didn't, just to not hurt her feelings more.

he caught her eyes across the room and smiled at her, nodding his head. she smiled back before standing to her feet, making her way over to him.

"what's good, kid? happy birthday." fezco beamed.

her smile widened, pulling him in for a hug. "thank you, fez."

"you enjoying it?" he asked, referring to the party.

she nodded her head, "i haven't done much all night." she told him, before stepping away. "imma go take a few shots and then i'll come back to you with another answer!" she shouted with a smile, watching as he chuckled while shaking his head, waving.

she reached her kitchen counter, she sat two clean shot glasses down and poured alcohol in both. she placed her fingers on both glasses, ready to quickly take the shots but was stopped by a familiar voice.

"you look good."

her smile returned as she made eye contact with her boyfriend that she had been looking for all night. "i didn't think you were here."

he scoffed, "really thought i wasn't gonna show to your birthday?"

she shrugged, continuing to look up at him with a smile. "you look good, too."

he smirked, putting his hand into his sweatpants pocket and pulling out a necklace. it was a red diamond. ashtray believed that red fit liani perfectly, which is why he smiled when he saw what dress liani was wearing, other than the fact that she looked great in it.

she held her hair, moving back towards him so he could put it on her. as he patted her back to let her know he was done, she smiled and held onto it.

"thank you." she looked up at him, bringing him into a kiss.

he grabbed onto her hips, deepening the kiss until liani pulled away to catch her breath. ashtray pulled her over to a chair, sitting her on his lap as his arms wrapped around her waist, his chin resting on her shoulder. he already had a headache from the loud music and everyone around him.

liani looked down at the necklace that sat on her neck, fiddling with it slightly. she turned on ashtrays lap, ignoring as his grip on her waist tightened as she looked into his eyes.

there was three words that was repeating in her mind, but she was hesitating to say them out loud.

she slowly leaned forward, putting her mouth near his ear. "i love you, ash."

his eyes widened slightly, "you serious?"

she nodded, laughing a little. she couldn't lie, she was nervous to see if he would say it back or not.

"i love you too, ma." he smiled, putting his hand on the side of her face as he pulled her in for another kiss.
