Sage’s Pov.

“Oh dude look even the writers caught you smiling, read some more. This is just too good,” Zac told us while reading into the magazine. “It says and I quote ‘do we detect somewhat of a smile on this suffer in silence bachelor? Maybe so with this brown-eyed beauty. We know nothing about this Sage girl, besides her name. Will we be seeing her in the future? Will the rumors of their soon marriage be confirmed?”

“Interesting, well I guess things will be confirmed at my parent’s party on Saturday night.” Blaze said picking up his plate and mine and putting it in the sink.

“That’s today Blaze! Why wouldn’t you tell me the specific date? I have to find a dress! Oh dude, a dress! Your mom would freak if I wore a dress that wasn’t stylish enough.”

“Sage, I didn’t tell you because it’s all handled don’t worry about it. I noticed that’s something you like to do, so I thought it was better not to.” Blaze replied calmly.

“You just know everything don’t you,” was my sarcastic answer, to which he just shrugged.

“Well what does my dress look like then?” I was curious onto what I would be wearing to this event, I knew it wouldn’t be anything less that super expensive, but that’s expected.

What would his family think of me, once the tabloids figure out who I am? His mom knows and accepts it his dad gave me a slight disgusted look, but the rest of them I wouldn’t know. I don’t know if I’ll be able to get through the rest of night, so thank the Lord that Aubrey and Zac would be there. Blaze would probably not talk; I mean that was expected too.

“Your dress is in my closet. You pick out of the rack on the right of the closet.” I ran out of the kitchen and into Blaze’s room, where my brother was still sleeping soundly. I walked into the closet and looked to my right; it was filled with dozens of clothes and accessories. I picked out this black, La Femme 18515 strapless dress. It was beautiful with diamonds in a zigzagged formation below the breast and it wrapped all the way around. It was long and flowy and it would be perfect for the dinner. I ran my hand over the silky fabric admiring the quality. A hand reached out and touched me and I jumped startled.

“So do you like the dress?” Blaze asked, with a deep silky type quality to his voice.

“It’s so perfect. I almost feel unworthy to wear it.” Then I thought deeply about it, “How much Blaze?”

“Come on Sage, we’ve been over this” Blazed groaned.

“I just want to know I’m not going to complain or anything.”

He sighed and told me anyway, “This one was relatively cheaper. Only $600, it’s not that bad.”

“It doesn’t have a tag, how do you know?”

He sighed again, “No matter how weird this sounds, Sage my mother is a multi-billionaire fashion designer, and I’m her only child, you pick on dumb designer brand shit like that.”

“Wow that is weird but kind of cool. You’d have to teach our- You’ll have to teach your kids that.”

He didn’t seem to notice the slip up on my part, about ‘our kids’ they’ll never be that, I don’t even know why that came to mind.

We both walked back into the living room and chilled out; it was about noon when Aubrey showed up with a dark haired boy behind her. He looked about our age maybe a couple years older, like Aubrey. I knew this was because of his dark hair, but I didnt really get a good look at him at Cory's party.

“I’m bored and Mark won’t let me do anything!” She pouted like a four year old and crossed her arms, facing away from Mark.

“Well the event is tonight and its going to be boring and know you, you’d fall asleep in someone’s face.” Mark reasoned, but Aubrey wasn’t having any of it.

“You just don’t like when I have fun.”

“Soooo, have you and Blaze have sex yet?” Aubrey asked out of nowhere. She said it as if it was something that would be in a normal conversation. Zac choked on his drink from laughing.

“I-we-you-“I stuttered not being able to come up with a coherent sentence, and Blaze just rolled his eyes.

“Aubrey, this is why I can’t take you anywhere! You can’t just ask people questions like that!” Mark scolded.

“Woman stop nagging me! I was just asking a question that could have been reasonably answered.” Aubrey shouted at him.

“Why are you still with her?” Zac asked from behind us at the nook in the kitchen.

This caused a smile to spread across Mark’s face, “She brings excitement in my life.” All Aubrey did was give him a short sweet smile and stick her tongue out at him.

“Sage?” Cory came out from the back room rubbing his eyes.

“Yeah Cor?”

“Can I go home, I have homework and Mommy will be there today.”

“Yeah sure.” Then I glanced over at Blaze, “Do you mind?”

“Of course not Sage.” His face twitched up at Cory and picked him up, “Come on little dude we’re going to pick up some food on our way.”

I followed after the two slowly and when I got in the car Cory was telling Blaze about his new favorite cartoon character. I just smiled and looked at Blaze; a small smile was playing at his face.

Once we arrived at my mom’s house Cory ran inside and Blaze and I followed slowly.

When we got in Blaze was pulled by Cory into his new room to see whatever Cory was going to show him. I just spent some time with my mom, which I haven’t had in a long time.

“I have a room here for you and Blaze if you two ever stay over.” My mom’s words caused a small embarrassed smile to appear over my face.

“Okay, thanks.”

“So what are you two doing tonight?” She asked sipping her tea.

“We are going to this annual dinner thing that his family does. I guess it’s like a fundraiser? I’m not quite sure I was filled in on this just today.” I glance at the clock on the cable box on the TV.

“Oh, well we got to get going Mom; we have to start getting ready. Love you” I hugged her and kissed her cheek, and got up to go get Blaze.

When I found the two they were in Cory’s room watching cartoons. I stood by the door waiting for them to notice my presence.

“Does it make mad how everything is good for SpongeBob and Sandy, and then Patrick comes and messes it up?” My brother asked Blaze, and I honestly expected him not to answer.

“Yeah, he makes me mad. Like could you not be stupid for more than one episode?” That definitely told me that he watched SpongeBob more than once, so I laughed. I laughed so hard that I was on the floor clutching my stomach, he’s definitely not one of those people you could see watching TV, let alone cartoons.

When I finally finished laughing I told Blaze we had to go, and though Cory complained, Blaze promised he’d come over later this week.

It was about 5:30 when we got back to the condo and Aubrey was still there, I guess everyone decided to get ready there.  I took a long shower in Blaze’s bathroom since Aubrey was using mine, and slipped on my dress. I curled my hair and added some eyeliner on. I thought I looked good to go. Blaze and the other boys were already ready and in the living room.

Aubrey came in to check on me. “Everything looks good except we need to add some stuff.” She put on me glitter eye shadow, and some earrings that apparently in that huge walk in closet of Blaze’s.

She grabbed my arm and we walked out to see the boys. Zac was the first person to comment on me. I knew it was probably because he knew that Blaze wasn’t going to say anything.

“Wow, lookin’ good little one. I’d take you home.” He winked, while chewing on an apple.

Blaze slapped him in the back of the head and took my arm, and while we walking to the car he whispered in my ear, “You look nice tonight.” I smiled at him and pulled him inside the truck taking us to the place.

The place that the dinner was held in was beautiful it was old and but huge. It looked like a museum. Then inside held old statues and everything looked very expensive, even the people. I scanned the crowd and everyone looked like they were just swimming in money. Blaze led me over to where we would be sitting. Blaze went up to the bar to get a bottle of wine while I sat there with Zac.

I then noticed someone that I didn’t think I would see here walking up to Blaze. She had on a beautiful white dress that was cut in the middle to make it sexy. It wasnt hoe like or anything just something that would get guy's attention. Zac stepped away for a minute with Aubrey and Mark to say hi to someone, so I decided to make it less awkward on myself and stay behind.

Marnie floated up to Blaze effortlessly, and while he’s asking the bartender for the wine she puts her hand on his chest. They seemed to be having a conversation, Marnie’s face blanks for a second then she puts on a bright smile. I see Blaze’s face twitch up a little, and I know that means he wanted to smile. He turns to grab the bottle, and Zac seems to have looked through the crowd at her and looked the direction she was looking and saw. He must have seen the sad look on my face because he slipped in between the two almost spilling the drink Marnie was holding, on her. Zac sat down next to me but all I could think about was Marnie and how close she was to Blaze.

“Don’t worry about Marnie, if he doesn’t want her. Just focus on being a couple.”

“Its fine I’m fine. Don’t worry about me Zac.”

Blaze made his way back over to the us, and the rest of the night went without me saying too much to Blaze unless in front of people. I met a lot of his family members, and I was right about my judgment. A lot of them were rude, with a few here and there that were welcoming of me.

“Hello Sage Dear!” Blaze’s Grandmother came over and hugged me. She was a sweet lady and she was nothing but nice to me.

“Sage, I want you to meet my dear friend Susanna.” Blaze’s mom introduced, “And Susanna this is my soon to be daughter-in-law, Sage.” I shook hands with the lady who gave me a once over.

“She’s pretty, seems smart, and looks like she’d be a great mother.” I gave the lady weirded out look.

“Don’t be alarmed Sage, Susanna is a licensed OBGYN, we want her to deliver you and Blaze’s kids.”

“Mother, I don’t think this is the place to discuss that. And beside Sage and I want to wait a while for kids.” I breathed out in relief at Blaze’s answer. The rest of night went without much falter other than Marnie coming around all the time. When he was time to leave she gave Blaze the longest goodbye hug, to where I had to pull him away.

When we got into the car I sat the farthest away from Blaze I could. Aubrey and Mark were leaving some other way so it was me, Zac, and Blaze.

I looked through the window bouncing my leg to the soft music playing in the background. I glanced over at Blaze who was looking at me confused.

“That was an interesting event. What do you think Sage?” Zac asked digging in his pocket, I just shrugged as a response.

“What’s your problem?” Blaze asked, with a slight annoyance in his tone.

“Doesn’t matter, don’t want to talk about it.”

“That little conversation between Blaze and Marnie, got you jealous didn’t it Sage?” Zac asked, a smile washing over his face.

“No, I could care less about the skank; it’s just if we were supposed to look like a couple, you should be paying more attention to me in public, than your mistress.” I rolled my eyes.

“It’s not like that, I don’t want her.” Then he shrugged, “You’ll get over it.”

“Let’s enjoy the rest of the night, guys. Let’s not bring the negative energies into the house.” Zac told us eating MnM’s. “I don’t want to have to chop through the tension just to get to my room.” Blaze just looks the other way, and I sighed and turned my attention back towards the window.

“Well I thought it was funny.” A voice said, and then we heard a chuckle from the driver.
