Sageâs Pov.
âAubrey this has nothing to do with you. This is all about her,â Marnie glared holes into me.
âMarnie face it, Blaze picked who he wanted, and itâs obviously not you. Heâs in love with me, and not you.â I told her bravely, but if she wanted I would fight her. But she did something less mature. She screamed stumped her foot and walked away with Stacy.
âI will get my revenge Beast! And I will get Blaze!â She yelled, causing everyone in the shop to look at her oddly.
Aubrey looked at me from the side of her eyes with bored look on her face, âWhy does this feel like high school all over again?â
I shrugged and replied, âBecause Marnie apparently has the mentality of a kid.â She walked out of Starbucks with me hot on her heels, but not without waving to the busy Jeremy before.
I followed her down the busy Californian Street, and into a nearby boutique.
âBelle Mariée? This just screams expensive!â I told Aubrey looking around at the peach store. âI donât speak French, but thatâs what it looks like.â I felt really bad because this dress either might go to waste, or be used in a fake wedding, for two people who donât love each other.
She looked at me like I was crazy, and then her face turned serious. âWhere did Blaze find you? Cause seriously other rich girls wouldnât care.â
âWell Iâm not rich, never was. One thing you should know about me now.â I told her with a shrug.
âWell that must be the reason why I like you! Stick with me kid, weâll be best friends. I knew you couldnât be snobby. I had a friend who was snobby and believe me when I say she was stuck up; I mean I had to tell her to pull the stick out more than once. She-â Before she could even finish her rambling I cut her off like everyone else did.
âAubrey, the rambling!â I said, to which she replied, âOh yeah sorry,â with a laugh.
âWell anyway, everyoneâs here so letâs start trying on your dresses!â You could tell she was excited because the smile she had on her face was bigger than when she was embarrassing Blaze and I earlier.
I was greeted by my mom, Mrs. Colton, and Grams, when Aubrey and I made our way to the back. We agreed on everyone looking for the dress they thought would perfect and bringing back for me to try on.
Aubreyâs dress had way too much ruffle, my momâs had too much lace, Mrs. Coltonâs wasnât strapless, and Gramâs was too short.
âI want the length of Aubreyâs, the diamonds around the stomach like my Momâs, the flowing of yours Mrs. Colton, and the material of Grams.â I really hoped I was going overboard, but I had to seem like a real bride I suppose, and this was the way. I mean I could be worse; I could be one of those chicks off of Bridezillas, or My Big Fat American Gypsy Wedding.
I found out that this was Mrs. Coltonâs shop and she was going to âhand make the dress of my dreamsâ her words not mine. And I accepted that, but apparently my day wasnât done. I was going on a date with Blaze to keep up with appearances I assume, but Aubrey didnât know that. She thought it was just going to be a romantic date between one of her best friendâs and his fiancé. She took me right next door to Mrs. Coltonâs more causal line.
Aubrey wanted me to be fashionable, yet comfortable so she put me in a tight striped gray and black sweater dress, it was short sleeve but the night was suppose to be chilly so she added a leather jacket.
âMake sure youâre home by 12, I donât want to be out worrying about you!â Aubrey warned giving me a hug.
I gave her a long flat look, before replying âYes, Mom. And Iâll make sure to kick him in the balls if he tries anything.â Repeating the phrase she taught me earlier.
âGood, now behave and enjoy yourself! Go to that boy and kiss him so good heâll think its sex!â Aubrey added a wink and left me standing there.
A couple seconds later Blaze pulled up in a new black Maybach and pushed the door open for me. I felt poor just sitting in this car. It was beautiful inside and out with the black leather interior and the lights lit it up everywhere. Blaze pulled up to a restaurant, but stayed in the car looking at me for a moment.
âDid you remember to bring your ring? I honestly donât see why you donât just wear it.â It sounded kind of like he was irritated that I didnât wear it. I looked him in the eyes and I donât know why I saw a bit of disappointment but it was quickly covered.
âI donât wear it because itâs so huge and flashy. Something that Iâm not and you would know that if you tried to know me.â I spat at him, a little frustrated with his moods.
He sighed and ran a hand through his hair, âIâm sorry Sage, I donât mean to- I want to be your friend.â
âGood, then youâll have to open up more, now letâs get this fake date on with.â He quickly got out the car and opened the door, helping me out of the car. He tossed the keys to the valet and grabbed me by the waist. I slipped my ring on and put a bright smile on my face. At least I was making some progress.
Once we were sat at the table, I could see the waitress fan-girling, it was in her tone and on her face.
âHey-Hey Iâm T-Teresa and Iâll be your waitress this evening. Can I get you something to drink today?â She was actually nice to me too. Iâm glad she wasnât the type to flirt when she knew I was with him.
Throughout dinner Blaze and I were throwing random questions at each other. But they werenât very deep; they were simple like âFavorite sports teamâ or âFavorite actorâ. Whenever I asked something too personal he would do his usual shut out by saying âDrop it Sage.â
When we were finished our food I got up and Blaze grabbed my hand, he pulled me in front of the crowd of people waiting for seating and kissed me. The kiss was more passionate than all our other kisses combined. The swirl of emotions bubbled within me making me gasp when he grabbed my thighs pulling me closer. His lips moved against my lips fast and my arms wrapped around his neck and I stood on my tippy-toes. I heard him softly groan, and he tried to pull me closer if that was possible.
I heard a chorus of âAwwsâ and I saw flashing of lights, thatâs when I pushed Blaze away. He actually had an expression on his face, he was clearly disoriented, and then he noticed why I pushed him away grabbed my hand and ran towards the car.
The valet was a young boy, and clearly was in awe at the make out he just witnessed. But tossed Blaze the keys and mouthed âWowâ to me. I was so embarrassed; I couldnât believe I did anything like that.
The paparazzi chased the car down in their cars all the way up to the Condo, and as if this was a movie it started to pour down on us. Before getting out of the car Blaze chuckled about the irony.
âWhat are the odds?â He voiced breathing rapidly.
âI have no idea. Well you put on quite a show at the restaurant back there.â
âYeah I had some great acting. Thanks again for doing this Sage. Now letâs go give them one last picture for the night. I just need you to make sure your hand is positioned right so they see the ring.â I sighed but nodded. This was all fake and he once again proved to me how great an actor he was. But what I felt was real.
We got out the car getting our clothes soaked and Blaze grabbed me close and I hugged my arm around him making sure my ring was in viewpoint of the camera. We dashed into the lobby, and into the elevator which took us up to the room. As soon as we stepped foot in the condo Blaze let go of me, and walked silently to his room.
âBlaze,â I called out, but it was already too late. His door was shut and his normal personality was back.
Zac as if on cue, came strolling out of his room plopping on the couch.
âHey my soaking little one! How was the date?â
âIt was actually pretty amazing. He was actually nice to me, I mean yeah he closed me out a couple times, but Iâm getting use to that.â I sighed whimsically and melted into the soft couch.
âSounds like someoneâs in L-O-V-E to me,â Zac replied to which I jumped on him with a pillow to try to smother him.
âWould,â I told him pressing the pillow harder with each word, âYou. Stop. Saying. That!â
He chuckled at my feeble attempts while fighting me off. I could tell he wasnât using his real strength though. Blaze walked out of his room, glanced over at us and then continued on his way to the kitchen.
âBlaze how was your date?â Zac asked with a smirk, once he sat me down back in my chair.
âFine,â was his oh so mysterious answer. But Zac being Zac had to try to decode everything.
âThatâs great! Did you kiss her?â He asked looking at Blazeâs face hoping for some type of emotion.
âIt doesnât matter.â His face seemed to go even more blank than usual; he closed the refrigerator and walked back to him room.
Zac looked over to me and smiled a very creepy one at that. âSo how was the kiss?â
âI donât want to talk about it.â This answer only made Zacâs smile widen.
âThey say when you love someone you start to talk like them.â
âZac,â I sighed seriously âPlease stop saying that. The way I figure it, the less I think about it, the less likely it is to happen.â
Seriousness took his face, and it was truly odd to see Zac like that. âIâm sorry little one, Iâll calm down on it. I didnât know you were that uncomfortable with it.â
âZac donât be serious. I donât like the serious you.â
âGood, neither do I!â He exclaimed jumping up. âLetâs get Blaze and make a cake!â
âI heard you burn water so letâs not.â I laughed.
âRight! Letâs go out for late night ice cream!â I nodded and he bound over to Blazeâs door. He didnât knock, he just barged right in, and dragged Blaze by his arm off the bed and into the living room.
âWhat the fuck Zac?â He growled glaring at his friend.
âWe want ice cream,â Zac whined.
âWhat are you six?âHe muttered.
âNope! Twenty, and still young enough to enjoy ice cream!â Zac jumped towards the door, expecting us to follow. I laughed at his child-like antics and made eye-contact with Blaze for like two seconds. To which he looked away and avoided eye-contact with me. I was confused, I didnât do anything wrong. But then again this is Blaze, heâll never make sense.
Walking behind the two boys, Zac pushing Blaze towards the car I could only wonder how they were even friends still. Aubrey told me theyâve been friends basically all their lives but Blaze is so, so, so stoic and boring, and Zac was so out-going, loud, and fun. What possibly could Blazeâs parents have done to change him?
I slipped into the car seat adjacent from Blaze and Zac was in the back messing with his seat belt. Blaze pushed his still wet hair out of his face, and glanced at me his face twitching up a bit. Was he trying to give me a small smile to comfort me? I smiled at him anyway.
âSooo are we gonna just stare each other like we wanna kiss or are we gonna get ice cream?â Zac asked trying to sound innocent.
âI donât want to kiss her.â Blaze answered monotone. I felt like he didnât have to answer it at all, especially if it was going to be rude like that.
âNever asked you to.â I replied sourly, a little angry at his previous words. I crossed my arms and looked straight ahead.
He turned my way and had the nerve to ask âWhatâs your problem?â
âMy problem is you! First youâre nice, and then youâre mean. Your mood swings are kind of ridiculous.â We both just sat there in silence for about five minutes till Zac spoke in a soft voice.
âForget the ice cream. Come on Sage letâs go watch a movie in the living room. Iâll call Aubrey and Mark over.â He opened his door and got out and then opened mine pulling me out of the car. Blaze just sat in his hands on the wheel staring straight ahead.
âSage you go up, Iâm going to talk to Blaze for a minute.â I nodded but I couldnât help but be nosy. I rounded the corner that led to the entrance of the condos. Blaze and Zac were walking and I couldnât hear all Blazeâs responses because he mumbles.
âYou have to stop being so mean to her. I donât know what girl will stick around with that.â Zac sighed lightly shoving Blaze.
âShe doesnât need to stick around; sheâs not going to be here long. Remember Zac this is just a fake.â
âYou have to find a better outlet to deal with your frustrations. You canât take them out on Sage. She did nothing wrong to you.â
âSheâs been distracting me from work, thatâs what I need and sheâs served as nothing but a distraction.â
âBro-â Blaze cut him off with something I couldnât hear. I dashed upstairs into the condo and laid on the couch.
Once the boys made it up, Zac called up Aubrey who screamed through the phone that sheâd be here in a second. I went into the kitchen and made some snacks and pulled out the candy stash.
âSo what room is Mark and I staying in?â Aubrey asked with bags in her hands walking through the door.
âSageâs room,â Zac replied wiping the smile off of my face.
âI guess Iâll take the couch then.â
Aubreyâs eyebrows creased in confusion. âWhy? Why donât you just sleep in the bed with Blaze? Jeez Sage I understand your morals but you canât get pregnant by laying with a boy. Besides heâs respectable.â
I realized two things. One, Aubrey didnât know about the deal, which I have no idea why I kept forgetting, and two I was going to be sleeping with Blaze tonight.
You're breaking my heart tonight,
Kissing me hard, seeing Valentino stars tonight,
I just wanna party tonight,
We're breaking all the rules
But baby it all feels so right
You're breaking my heart tonight,
Take me for a ride boy,
Don't leave me on the side boy
