Sage’s Pov.

“Aubrey this has nothing to do with you. This is all about her,” Marnie glared holes into me.

“Marnie face it, Blaze picked who he wanted, and it’s obviously not you. He’s in love with me, and not you.” I told her bravely, but if she wanted I would fight her. But she did something less mature. She screamed stumped her foot and walked away with Stacy.

“I will get my revenge Beast! And I will get Blaze!” She yelled, causing everyone in the shop to look at her oddly.

Aubrey looked at me from the side of her eyes with bored look on her face, “Why does this feel like high school all over again?”

I shrugged and replied, “Because Marnie apparently has the mentality of a kid.” She walked out of Starbucks with me hot on her heels, but not without waving to the busy Jeremy before.

I followed her down the busy Californian Street, and into a nearby boutique.

“Belle Mariée? This just screams expensive!” I told Aubrey looking around at the peach store. “I don’t speak French, but that’s what it looks like.” I felt really bad because this dress either might go to waste, or be used in a fake wedding, for two people who don’t love each other.

She looked at me like I was crazy, and then her face turned serious. “Where did Blaze find you? Cause seriously other rich girls wouldn’t care.”

“Well I’m not rich, never was. One thing you should know about me now.” I told her with a shrug.

“Well that must be the reason why I like you! Stick with me kid, we’ll be best friends. I knew you couldn’t be snobby. I had a friend who was snobby and believe me when I say she was stuck up; I mean I had to tell her to pull the stick out more than once. She-” Before she could even finish her rambling I cut her off like everyone else did.

“Aubrey, the rambling!” I said, to which she replied, “Oh yeah sorry,” with a laugh.

“Well anyway, everyone’s here so let’s start trying on your dresses!” You could tell she was excited because the smile she had on her face was bigger than when she was embarrassing Blaze and I earlier.

I was greeted by my mom, Mrs. Colton, and Grams, when Aubrey and I made our way to the back. We agreed on everyone looking for the dress they thought would perfect and bringing back for me to try on.

Aubrey’s dress had way too much ruffle, my mom’s had too much lace, Mrs. Colton’s wasn’t strapless, and Gram’s was too short.

“I want the length of Aubrey’s, the diamonds around the stomach like my Mom’s, the flowing of yours Mrs. Colton, and the material of Grams.” I really hoped I was going overboard, but I had to seem like a real bride I suppose, and this was the way. I mean I could be worse; I could be one of those chicks off of Bridezillas, or My Big Fat American Gypsy Wedding.

I found out that this was Mrs. Colton’s shop and she was going to ‘hand make the dress of my dreams’ her words not mine. And I accepted that, but apparently my day wasn’t done. I was going on a date with Blaze to keep up with appearances I assume, but Aubrey didn’t know that. She thought it was just going to be a romantic date between one of her best friend’s and his fiancé. She took me right next door to Mrs. Colton’s more causal line.

Aubrey wanted me to be fashionable, yet comfortable so she put me in a tight striped gray and black sweater dress, it was short sleeve but the night was suppose to be chilly so she added a leather jacket.

“Make sure you’re home by 12, I don’t want to be out worrying about you!” Aubrey warned giving me a hug.

I gave her a long flat look, before replying “Yes, Mom. And I’ll make sure to kick him in the balls if he tries anything.” Repeating the phrase she taught me earlier.

“Good, now behave and enjoy yourself! Go to that boy and kiss him so good he’ll think its sex!” Aubrey added a wink and left me standing there.

A couple seconds later Blaze pulled up in a new black Maybach and pushed the door open for me. I felt poor just sitting in this car. It was beautiful inside and out with the black leather interior and the lights lit it up everywhere. Blaze pulled up to a restaurant, but stayed in the car looking at me for a moment.

“Did you remember to bring your ring? I honestly don’t see why you don’t just wear it.” It sounded kind of like he was irritated that I didn’t wear it. I looked him in the eyes and I don’t know why I saw a bit of disappointment but it was quickly covered.

“I don’t wear it because it’s so huge and flashy. Something that I’m not and you would know that if you tried to know me.” I spat at him, a little frustrated with his moods.

He sighed and ran a hand through his hair, “I’m sorry Sage, I don’t mean to- I want to be your friend.”

“Good, then you’ll have to open up more, now let’s get this fake date on with.” He quickly got out the car and opened the door, helping me out of the car. He tossed the keys to the valet and grabbed me by the waist. I slipped my ring on and put a bright smile on my face. At least I was making some progress.

Once we were sat at the table, I could see the waitress fan-girling, it was in her tone and on her face.

“Hey-Hey I’m T-Teresa and I’ll be your waitress this evening. Can I get you something to drink today?” She was actually nice to me too. I’m glad she wasn’t the type to flirt when she knew I was with him.

Throughout dinner Blaze and I were throwing random questions at each other. But they weren’t very deep; they were simple like ‘Favorite sports team’ or ‘Favorite actor’. Whenever I asked something too personal he would do his usual shut out by saying “Drop it Sage.”

When we were finished our food I got up and Blaze grabbed my hand, he pulled me in front of the crowd of people waiting for seating and kissed me. The kiss was more passionate than all our other kisses combined.  The swirl of emotions bubbled within me making me gasp when he grabbed my thighs pulling me closer. His lips moved against my lips fast and my arms wrapped around his neck and I stood on my tippy-toes. I heard him softly groan, and he tried to pull me closer if that was possible.

I heard a chorus of ‘Awws’ and I saw flashing of lights, that’s when I pushed Blaze away. He actually had an expression on his face, he was clearly disoriented, and then he noticed why I pushed him away grabbed my hand and ran towards the car.

The valet was a young boy, and clearly was in awe at the make out he just witnessed. But tossed Blaze the keys and mouthed ‘Wow’ to me. I was so embarrassed; I couldn’t believe I did anything like that.

The paparazzi chased the car down in their cars all the way up to the Condo, and as if this was a movie it started to pour down on us. Before getting out of the car Blaze chuckled about the irony.

“What are the odds?” He voiced breathing rapidly.

“I have no idea. Well you put on quite a show at the restaurant back there.”

“Yeah I had some great acting. Thanks again for doing this Sage. Now let’s go give them one last picture for the night. I just need you to make sure your hand is positioned right so they see the ring.” I sighed but nodded. This was all fake and he once again proved to me how great an actor he was. But what I felt was real.

We got out the car getting our clothes soaked and Blaze grabbed me close and I hugged my arm around him making sure my ring was in viewpoint of the camera. We dashed into the lobby, and into the elevator which took us up to the room. As soon as we stepped foot in the condo Blaze let go of me, and walked silently to his room.

“Blaze,” I called out, but it was already too late. His door was shut and his normal personality was back.

Zac as if on cue, came strolling out of his room plopping on the couch.

“Hey my soaking little one! How was the date?”

“It was actually pretty amazing. He was actually nice to me, I mean yeah he closed me out a couple times, but I’m getting use to that.” I sighed whimsically and melted into the soft couch.

“Sounds like someone’s in L-O-V-E to me,” Zac replied to which I jumped on him with a pillow to try to smother him.

“Would,” I told him pressing the pillow harder with each word, “You. Stop. Saying. That!”

He chuckled at my feeble attempts while fighting me off. I could tell he wasn’t using his real strength though. Blaze walked out of his room, glanced over at us and then continued on his way to the kitchen.

“Blaze how was your date?” Zac asked with a smirk, once he sat me down back in my chair.

“Fine,” was his oh so mysterious answer. But Zac being Zac had to try to decode everything.

“That’s great! Did you kiss her?” He asked looking at Blaze’s face hoping for some type of emotion.

“It doesn’t matter.” His face seemed to go even more blank than usual; he closed the refrigerator and walked back to him room.

Zac looked over to me and smiled a very creepy one at that. “So how was the kiss?”

“I don’t want to talk about it.” This answer only made Zac’s smile widen.

“They say when you love someone you start to talk like them.”

“Zac,” I sighed seriously “Please stop saying that. The way I figure it, the less I think about it, the less likely it is to happen.”

Seriousness took his face, and it was truly odd to see Zac like that. “I’m sorry little one, I’ll calm down on it. I didn’t know you were that uncomfortable with it.”

“Zac don’t be serious. I don’t like the serious you.”

“Good, neither do I!” He exclaimed jumping up. “Let’s get Blaze and make a cake!”

“I heard you burn water so let’s not.” I laughed.

“Right! Let’s go out for late night ice cream!” I nodded and he bound over to Blaze’s door. He didn’t knock, he just barged right in, and dragged Blaze by his arm off the bed and into the living room.

“What the fuck Zac?” He growled glaring at his friend.

“We want ice cream,” Zac whined.

“What are you six?”He muttered.

“Nope! Twenty, and still young enough to enjoy ice cream!” Zac jumped towards the door, expecting us to follow. I laughed at his child-like antics and made eye-contact with Blaze for like two seconds. To which he looked away and avoided eye-contact with me. I was confused, I didn’t do anything wrong. But then again this is Blaze, he’ll never make sense.

Walking behind the two boys, Zac pushing Blaze towards the car I could only wonder how they were even friends still. Aubrey told me they’ve been friends basically all their lives but Blaze is so, so, so stoic and boring, and Zac was so out-going, loud, and fun. What possibly could Blaze’s parents have done to change him?

I slipped into the car seat adjacent from Blaze and Zac was in the back messing with his seat belt. Blaze pushed his still wet hair out of his face, and glanced at me his face twitching up a bit. Was he trying to give me a small smile to comfort me? I smiled at him anyway.

“Sooo are we gonna just stare each other like we wanna kiss or are we gonna get ice cream?” Zac asked trying to sound innocent.

“I don’t want to kiss her.” Blaze answered monotone. I felt like he didn’t have to answer it at all, especially if it was going to be rude like that.

“Never asked you to.” I replied sourly, a little angry at his previous words. I crossed my arms and looked straight ahead.

He turned my way and had the nerve to ask “What’s your problem?”

“My problem is you! First you’re nice, and then you’re mean. Your mood swings are kind of ridiculous.” We both just sat there in silence for about five minutes till Zac spoke in a soft voice.

“Forget the ice cream. Come on Sage let’s go watch a movie in the living room. I’ll call Aubrey and Mark over.” He opened his door and got out and then opened mine pulling me out of the car. Blaze just sat in his hands on the wheel staring straight ahead.

“Sage you go up, I’m going to talk to Blaze for a minute.” I nodded but I couldn’t help but be nosy. I rounded the corner that led to the entrance of the condos. Blaze and Zac were walking and I couldn’t hear all Blaze’s responses because he mumbles.

“You have to stop being so mean to her. I don’t know what girl will stick around with that.” Zac sighed lightly shoving Blaze.

“She doesn’t need to stick around; she’s not going to be here long. Remember Zac this is just a fake.”

“You have to find a better outlet to deal with your frustrations. You can’t take them out on Sage. She did nothing wrong to you.”

“She’s been distracting me from work, that’s what I need and she’s served as nothing but a distraction.”

“Bro-“ Blaze cut him off with something I couldn’t hear. I dashed upstairs into the condo and laid on the couch.

Once the boys made it up, Zac called up Aubrey who screamed through the phone that she’d be here in a second. I went into the kitchen and made some snacks and pulled out the candy stash.

“So what room is Mark and I staying in?” Aubrey asked with bags in her hands walking through the door.

“Sage’s room,” Zac replied wiping the smile off of my face.

“I guess I’ll take the couch then.”

Aubrey’s eyebrows creased in confusion. “Why? Why don’t you just sleep in the bed with Blaze? Jeez Sage I understand your morals but you can’t get pregnant by laying with a boy. Besides he’s respectable.”

I realized two things. One, Aubrey didn’t know about the deal, which I have no idea why I kept forgetting, and two I was going to be sleeping with Blaze tonight.

You're breaking my heart tonight,

Kissing me hard, seeing Valentino stars tonight,

I just wanna party tonight,

We're breaking all the rules

But baby it all feels so right

You're breaking my heart tonight,

Take me for a ride boy,

Don't leave me on the side boy
