Sage’s Pov.

Once I retrieved the medicine from the bathroom cabinet I left the room, and went to go get him a glass of water. Once I came out of the room I was immediately bombarded by questions and eyes.

“He’s sick,” I replied shutting them up immediately. A look of concern mixed with not believing came over their faces.

“Oh no, you’re in for it.” Mark smiled, “And for once, we don’t have to be the ones to take care of him.”

I was confused at their happy reactions towards not taking care of Blaze. “Why?” I questioned confused.

“Blaze is like a Two-year old throwing a temper–tantrum for not getting the new doll that she wanted, when he’s sick. He’ll work you to the bone and when he gets sick it gets bad.” Zac explained.

“How bad is his sick?” I asked looking for some sort of balance. He couldn’t be any worse than my brother and my brother’s sick is horrible, because his asthma lowers his immune system.

“He’s like a normal person when he’s sick, but he was hospitalized for it once.” Marked told me, and that was all I needed.

“Then this should be a piece of cake. My brother has bad asthma and is always sick, I’m use to it.” I reached into the fridge pulling out Fiji water. He can’t drink less expensive drinking water? Rich people kill me sometimes. I closed the door and walked back to the room.

“What took you so long?” He complained, grabbing the water from me. I glared at him and gave him the pill tablets.

“A thank you would’ve been better.” I grumbled walking over to him to check his temperature. “Do you have a thermometer somewhere around here?”

“Yeah because I keep them on me at all times just in case, because you never know!”

“I don’t need your sarcasm you- you – you ass!” He looked at me shocked and I was too angry to care that he made an expression; I stomped off to the bathroom to see if he had one in there. He did and when I brought it out I looked over at the bed and saw Blaze with his head back into the trashcan heaving.

I rushed over to his aid quickly, rubbing his back and softly patting. He groaned and laid back setting the trash back on the floor. It reeked and I was probably going to be the one to clean it up. He grabbed the pills and water off the nightstand and drank it down quickly not wasting a drop.

“Alright come on let’s take your temperature,” I told him bending over to his face.

“No, I don’t need that,” he complained turning his head and rolling over to the other side of the bed.

“What are we; six? Blaze let me take your temperature.” I sighed reaching over to him, and he just flipped over avoiding me.

This happen about four more times before I got fed up. I wrestled him down and pent his arms above his head. Of course he’s stronger than me, but he lost all fight once I gained the upper hand. I was now straddling his lower stomach one of my hands holding both of his and my other with thermometer nearing his mouth.

“Hey, how’s it-go-ing?” Zac started, walking through the door. “Obviously good,” He smiled.

“This stubborn dickhead wouldn’t let me check his temperature so I had to basically wrestle him.” I pouted, but that only made Zac laugh.

“We told you. Well we’re going to head out to get ice cream and visit my mom and dad. You coming Sage?” Zac’s offer was very tempting but I couldn’t leave Blaze and no matter what he said I was going to stay.

“You can go Sage; I can take care of myself.” Blaze grumbled. I just looked down at his emerald eyes and glared.

“No, I think I’m going to stay here and look after him, since he’s not doing that for himself.” I replied, smiling at Zac. No matter how stubborn Blaze was, I was going to look after him because he looked so helpless when he was throwing up, and no matter how much he didn’t want to admit it, he wasn’t feeling well.

“Okay, well I’ll bring you two back something. Oh and don’t do anything freaky while Blaze is sick, we don’t want you sick too. By the position you’re in it might just happen,” He winked closing the door, before the pillow I threw at him made it.

I rolled my eyes, and turned back on Blaze realizing that I needed to finish the task at hand.  I stuck the thermometer in his mouth and made sure he kept it in there. I let go of his hands hoping he wouldn’t toss me over and run, but luckily he didn’t fight. He lowered his once raised arms and rested them on the side of my hips. My eyes traveled from his hands, up his arms, and back to his eyes. I couldn’t tell what he was thinking and I knew his face wasn’t going to give it away.

I took my now free hands and put one on top of his head. He felt really hot, and I mean super; he was burning up. I took the thermometer out of his mouth and looked, his temperature was very high and this just verified it. I didn’t want to Google it because it would just have me panicking thinking he had some disease that he probably didn’t. I was starting to panic and I forgot that I was on top of him, shaking, and breathing very hard- hyperventilating even. I look down at Blaze who was confused with his mouth opened and an eye brow raised.

“Sage, are you okay? The heavy breathing is giving me something I’d really rather not deal with while I’m sick.” I just looked down into his eyes giving him a ‘what the fuck’ look.

“I’m going to call a doctor” I voiced getting off of him. I heard him sigh and I walked out of the room to call my little brother’s doctor. Once she picked up I was a little relieved.

“Hello you’ve reached Dr. Branson, how can I help you?”

“Hi, it’s Sage and I-" I was cut off by a happy yell. I cringed and covered my ears.

“Sage! I haven’t heard from you in a while, Cory must be doing fine. But maybe not since you’re calling me now. What’ wrong?” Her voice frantic, actually concerned. She was different from other doctors, she gains an emotional attachment to her patients, yes some would say its bad, but I feel as if it means she cares more.

I sighed and replied “No Corey’s fine, it’s my uh- my fiancé. He’s a little under the weather and I wanted to know what’s wrong.” I asked sounding nervous expecting the worse.

“Oh, I saw you in a magazine today!” I groaned because I’m pretty sure it was of the heavy make out we had in front of the restaurant. I was so embarrassed that she saw that. “You two are so adorable. But what are his symptoms?” She asked after complimenting us, going straight back to doctor mode.

“He has a high fever, and he keeps throwing up. I-” Before I could finish my sentence I heard more gags, groans, and dry heaving, except this time add on fits of coughs. “He can’t seem to keep anything down and he’s coughing now.”

“Sounds like the stomach flu; I’ll prescribe some medicine and send it to your house. I presume you’re living with him so just give me the address and I’ll have someone drop it off.” She diagnosed in a calm voice and knowing that it was no serious disease made me feel better. I sighed, thanked her, and gave her the address.

I tried everything to cool him down; I put him in an ice bath-with underwear of course! I pulled him out of that and put a cold towel over his head I made sure to give him plenty of water; which was pointless because he just threw it up. He would groan out of pain every so often, but he wouldn’t complain, he looked as if he wishes I didn’t see him like this; vulnerable.

“Okay Blaze, your stomach hurts, and I did this for my brother all the time. I’m not trying to be creepy or anything, but lay on your back.” He flipped over without fuss, sighed, and closed his eyes. I bit my lip contemplating if I wanted to actually go through with this.

I gathered the courage and crawled onto the bed going up to the top to sit next to Blaze’s chest. He looked at me warily, but was so uncomfortable from the pain he just closed his eyes. I pulled the covers off of his body to the top of his shorts. I have no idea why I did it so slowly and it seemed so sensual, but I swear I didn’t mean to.

I took my hand and placed it on Blaze’s stomach rubbing it in soft swirling motions. I had my eyes closed because I didn’t want to see his expression. I heard his stomach rumble but then start to calm down. He sighed a little bit and that cause me to open my eyes and glance at his. He looked right back not breaking eye contact. I would be the one to do that when the doorbell rang. I took my hand from his stomach and he turned to his side curling up a little. I felt really bad that he was sick. I ran to the door and was grateful that it was the medicine that I was waiting for. I thanked the door man and tipped him for bringing it up.

I closed the door and rushed into the room to give Blaze the medicine, finding him with the trashcan up to his face again. I sighed and got on the bed crawling over to him once again. I rubbed his hair back once he laid back, placing the cold rag back on it. I fed him his medicine that was supposed to keep his food down and fight the virus. He was supposed to take it every four hours. The side-effects said that he would be disoriented, sudden change in mood, drowsy, and confused. I just hoped he’d sleep through all those.

I walked out of the room for five minutes jus to make him some chicken noodle soup, but I was interrupted by a weak voice calling my name. I ran back inside the room to see Blaze had thrown up over himself and the covers. Well we definitely weren’t sleeping those anymore; they were going straight to the trash.

I pulled the covers off of him making sure not to touch any of the puke and pushed them into a big trash bag I found in the kitchen. I pulled him by his arm to stand up and he must have got dizzy because he almost fell back into the bed. He swung a little while walking to the bathroom. I replaced them with fresh sheets but it was too quiet. I didn’t hear any water for a while and got worried; I didn’t want to walk in there in case he was naked.

“Sage?”  I heard Blaze call, and even though I was scared of what I might see if I walked into the bathroom. He called my name again and I braced myself.

I looked in and saw Blaze in the tub instead of the shower, he appeared to be naked but I couldn’t tell because his tub was built like a Jacuzzi and it was big.

“Yes Blaze?” I asked confused on why he called my name.

“I-” he started and then just passed out. I panicked, he could drown if I left him in there but I didn’t want to get him out and him not be clean, and see him naked! I sighed; I’ve seen it all before in health class, it couldn’t be that hard.

I took a wash cloth and doused it in his apple smelling body wash and started to wash his upper body with it. There was no way I was going any lower, and besides I’m sure the water cleaned that. I took his tooth brush, added toothpaste, and brushed away all signs of throw up from his mouth. I tossed it in the trash, and wondered how I was going to get him out. I put my hands on my hips and thought; once I figured it out I set my plan into action.

I grabbed a towel and held it in front of me, blocking my vision of Blaze. I shook him a little with my eyes closed and he jumped.

“Huh?” Was all I heard before I heard water splashing, letting me know he was coming out of the bath. He ran right into the towel causing me to fall back into the sink a little he was leaning on me, and I was feeling his whole body. I gulped and wrapped the towel around his waist and helped him back to his fresh bed. I walked into the closet to get him clothes, I found him in his towel; that was now hanging dangerously low, at the window.

“Blaze come back to bed,” I asked softly hoping not to startle him, that medicine was some heavy stuff and when they said disoriented they definitely meant it. He slowly walked over to me and fell coming down onto me. Then he started to laugh like it was the funniest think ever, I mean like full blown laughter as if this was the sitter. I was so confused but I didn’t question it as I pushed him off of me.

I grabbed the clothes and told him to get dressed while I went to go get his food. I handmade the chicken noodle soup and prepared it in less than ten minutes thanks to high powered cooking technology. I hoped Blaze would like it; I have no idea why it’s not like he’d remember how it tasted or anything.

I walked back into the room first knocking to make sure he was decent to find him fast asleep, and I wasn’t going to wake him because it would be hard to get him to go back. I decided to just let him sleep it off. I brought the bowl back and placed it in the microwave and laid on the couch, tired from taking care of Blaze. I woke up to my name being called as if someone was looking for me. I popped my head up over the couch worried that it was Blaze throwing up again.

“Yes?” I called out, making his searching green orbs to look my way. “I feel so much better. What did you do?” He was still shirtless only in basketball shorts. He stretched and roamed in the kitchen looking for a quick meal.

I got up approaching him quickly to recheck his temperature. His forehead seemed normal, but just in case I had to go run back to the room that I cleaned spotless before I went to sleep, to get the thermometer, that I also cleaned thoroughly.

I walked up to him reaching on tip-toes to get the thermometer in his mouth, but this time he didn’t seem to care. I looked up to Blaze’s eyes that were glimmering, while they stared into mine. His mouth twitched up a bit, which looked funny with the thermometer still in his mouth, but it was all I needed. I smiled and jumped over to the microwave pushing some buttons so it would warm up his soup.

I took the thermometer out of his mouth and it was relatively back to his normal temperature, which I was thankful for because I don’t think I was ever this exhausted in a long time. What seemed like only thirty minutes with Blaze sickness was about five hours and plus me going to sleep it’s been about seven hours after everyone else left.

“Thank you,”’ He told me softly and I knew it was sincere. I smiled brightly at him and pulled his soup out of the microwave and put it on the breakfast bar where he was sitting.

“This is really good Sage. What is this because it can’t be Campbell’s, it tastes too fresh?”

I smiled even more that he was enjoying my food. “No I handmade it.” Then a serious look seemed to come over his face and I sighed unsure what he was going to say.

“I’m sorry I’m being so mean,” he swallowed audibly before continuing. “It’s just I’ve been really stressed out and I’m not use to this, to someone other than Zac and them caring about me.” He sighed running a hand through his black, messily ruffled hair.

“Its fine, I got use to it. It’s kind of like I know what to expect now.” I replied. He didn’t say anything for a while and I made me a bowl of soup.

“Who brushed my teeth? I didn’t have a taste in my mouth, while waking up. All I remember was you bathing me?” My mouth dropped open that he remembers that, because I could have sworn he was asleep.

“I did while I bathed you. Which by the way I didn’t touch you anywhere but your chest and face!” I squeaked out quickly. A light blush spread across his cheeks and looked down at his bowl.

We made a little small talk, and I realized Blaze was letting me in a little. He actually talked as if he wanted to hear what I was saying. He apologized for groping me and whatever else he did. When Zac, Aubrey, and Mark came back they were shocked to see that Blaze was in full health. Zac brought us something back as he promised, and it was ice cream. He brought my favorite Ben & Jerry’s Karamel Sutra and Blaze’s favorite Triple Caramel Chunk which I actually liked more than mine.

So of course I took the liberty of sticking my spoon in his and taking a bite before he touched it. His mouth twitched up and he chuckled a little before shielding his ice cream from me. We sat right next to each other, super close. Usually Aubrey would have to hint for us to that but this time we seemed to just do it naturally.

“What happen between you while he was sick?” Aubrey questioned and then a bright smile slithered on her face, “Did you bone her while you were sick Blaze?” Mark laughed, clutching his stomach. Blaze seemed to shy up and blush a little. It was weird seeing him do that.

“No I didn’t.” He replied not looking up at her.

“I warned them about that, so probably not. If you must know I caught Sage on top of him before we left to visit mom today.”

“Ha, they definitely did something today.” I glared at Mark for saying that, and stuck my tongue out at him.

“Seriously, Blaze must actually be in love with this girl, she’s got him blushing more than once!”
