Sage’s Pov.

I sighed and decided to drop the subject and start whatever I was supposed to do to help Blaze. When I looked at him, he was highly concentrated on his work. I walked over to his desk and sat on it like Fran did to Mr. Sheffield. He spared me a glance out of the corner of his eye.

"Let me help you," I told him and he scooted back a little so that I could lean over him and see the screen of the computer. We got to work and got done a little early. It was 12:00 p.m. when we left to go to class. I had all my classes with Blaze except one because he was taking an extra math class. He told me that I would have to wait with his friend Zac, because he didn’t want me talking to the wrong people.

As we walked on campus everyone stared once again, but I was pressed into Blaze so they couldn’t see my face. Blaze didn’t seem to mind, he ignored them just as he did at the office.

Outside the door of our class, Blaze took a deep breath in and out. He looked down at me silently, and I gave him a smile. He just stared at me for a minute or two saying no words. I was worried, so I grabbed his hand confidently and walked into the classroom. All eyes were on us, and my heart started to beat rapidly, and so loudly that I bet Blaze could hear.

"It's okay," Blaze whispered awkwardly in my ear, as if trying to comfort me. Out of the corner of my eye, I could see people were staring so I directed my attention back to Blaze's who seemed to notice the same thing.

He kissed me on the cheek, the part near my ear and brought me down to where he usually sat. I couldn’t get my mind pass the kiss. It was running through my mind the entire class period. But it’s not like he was attracted to me or anything. He just needed me for his family, and I mean I shouldn’t want him either because he is way out of my league and he’s mean, I wanted someone nice to me. He was hot with a personality you just wanted to crack open and figure out, I will admit but I shouldn’t want him, this is just temporary. I decided to just get over it.

I decided to just get over it, when class was over Blaze and got up to leave, but I was pushed by a massive amount of girls. I was pushed into some guy. When I looked up I noticed that he was the same guy from the picture with Blaze. I gave him a small thankful smile, for catching me.

"Are you Sage?"

"Yeah, I recognize you from a picture. Are you Zac?"

He smirked and nodded his head, "The one and only."

He grabbed my arms and pushed us through the crowd of girls to Blaze. Blaze spotted me and gently yanked me to his side, and wrapped an arm around me. I was starting to get warm tingles every time he was around, and not just because of his looks. But I was just going to blame that on the nervousness of impressing his high society crowd, and because of the fact that I've never had a boyfriend.

All of the girls seemed to glare at me, but one in particular got me the most uncomfortable. She was staring, like she wanted me dead, or at least that's what it looked like. I just gave her a forced smile. Blaze didn’t tell me that there would be this many girls hating me. Blaze and Zac walked out of the class with me in the middle. Girls are weird, being possessive over a guy that's not theirs.

The next class, which didn’t have really many 'known' fan girls of Blaze's in this class. Maybe because they weren’t smart enough.  As we went through class there were certain things I wouldn't get, but Blaze would whisper a better way of understanding in my ear. One time his lips got so close to my ear that they touched them and I giggled. I never do anything like that.

When we got out of the class, Zac came up to us showing the screen of his phone.

"It's already out there bro. Emily Rio said 'Who's the new girl with Blaze? Hash tag whocoulditbe'. Christena Thomas tweeted 'Blaze is now taken, all the girls can be sad now.' And finally your favorite Marnie facebooked 'Who's the new ugly thing with Blaze, we all know that he's mine.' Oh and add a winky face." He finished telling what the news was.

"And besides Sage, we all know you're actually really hot, without the glasses, man can I pick them or what? Huh Blaze?" He asked elbowing him in the ribs. I was curious as to what Blaze would say... Or I guess wouldn’t say because he looked indifferent, like he wasn’t paying attention to a word we were saying.

And to think about what Marnie said, I mean being called ugly so much is really starting to affect my self esteem. Zac brought me out of my thoughts by telling me, “He always drifts off like that. He’s been doing it since we were 16 and came back from living with his parents. He’s listening, but you know, just out of it.”

“I understand.”

It was now 3:30 and Blaze was in his extra math class. He didn’t have to be there long, but I was sitting in the campus café with Zac.

“You know you should work here and make your own coffee.” Zac suddenly voiced breaking the silence.

I gave him a soft smile, “My dream is to own my own little café.”

“What’s stopping you?”

“Money, I mean as you can probably tell from my clothes, and this little thing with Blaze, I’m poor.” I whispered almost inaudibly, but Zac heard me and nodded his head slowly.

He leaned back on his side of the booth and smirked.

“What?” I asked questioning him about the funny look he was giving me.

“You’re going to fall in love with Blaze,” he said simply, drinking on his latte.

I almost choked on my water. “What! Are you crazy? For one, Blaze is out of my league. And for two, I’d like someone who actually likes me and talking to me.”

“But you’re not denying it,” he replied quickly. I groaned and put my head down on the cool surface of the wooden table.

Another twenty minutes passed with Zac trying to convince me that Blaze was my perfect match. I mean it’s impossible; I just met him yesterday anyway.

The bell on the café’s door rang, and Blaze walked in with a girl, trailing behind on his heels. He rolled his eyes and sat next to me, and when Marnie, I assumed that’s her name looked my way he abruptly pulled me into his side. She glared at me, her eyes lit on fire with hate. I was afraid I’d burst into flames any moment.

She begrudgingly sat next to Zac, who scooted as far away from her as he could. She didn’t care though, her attention was on Blaze. He sighed looking at me, his eyes pleading for help.

“Blaze let’s knock off the charade. You know you don’t want this plain Jane over here,” she said flicking her dark brown hair over her shoulder.

Marnie was pretty, but her face was caked in makeup, and her clothes were too small; she was like another Stacy. Plus her attitude stunk.

“Besides, you two been here all day, and you don’t do couple-like things. I’ve never even seen you hug, or kiss.” I gulped audibly, when she said kiss. He wouldn’t kiss me, would he? I mean it’s not like I wouldn’t accept it, it’s just I’ve never done it before, and he had plenty of experience. I shouldn’t be over-thinking this; he wasn’t going to kiss me. Somehow that thought made me sad.

I shook it off and smiled at her. “We’re not a PDA couple, uhm I’m not sure what your name is?” I questioned.

She gave me a fake smile, “I’m surprised Blaze didn’t mention me since we did a lot of things together in the past. I’m Marnie.”

“Oh, I’ve never heard Blaze mention you.”

“That’s because he’s not a talker,” she smirked thinking she had something over me. But I had a comeback.

“Oh well he talks to me all the time, I mean at his, opps I mean our home.” I smiled, “We hold conversations all day.”

I looked out of the corner of my eye and saw Blaze’s face twitch up a little. Blaze and I said our goodbyes to the pissed Marnie, and the happy Zac and made our way back to the office.

Everyone was surprised to see me back, like they expected him to dump me when his mom saw me.

I just smiled and waved at them all, wrapping my arms around Blaze. He was shocked a little, but wrapped an arm around me. I couldn’t help but feel warm inside when he did that gesture. I don’t know why but it made me feel like I had a chance.

When we got back to Blaze's actual floor everyone was again shocked to see me holding Blaze. We got straight to work and finished by six which was quiet early for him. We ordered out, which we did for the next week.

On Friday when we got home from work at six, I realized that Blaze ate nothing but breakfast.

"Blaze did you eat anything today?" then I quickly added, "Other than breakfast?" I asked this from behind his bedroom door.

I was leaning against it and I didn’t know he was going to suddenly open it, so when he did I was put off balance and I fell straight on his chest causing him fall backwards, and landing us on the floor with a thump. I didn’t notice the position we were in and I completely forgot I fell on top of him, for a second when I sat up and rubbed my head. But in that split second Zac pranced in.

“Woah! What do we have here?” I hurriedly scooted myself off Blaze who was running a hand through his thick black hair.

“Nothing was going on Zac. We were just about to go order dinner and ran into each other.”

“No we aren’t ordering out, I’m tired of that food” I stated.

Blaze looked confused, “Then who’s going to cook because Zac burns water, and I can only cook three foods.”

“Uh, I am, that’s why we went grocery shopping remember. So dinner will be ready in an hour boys.”

When I came back upstairs to get Blaze and Zac, they were nowhere to be found. I walked passed my room and pass Blaze’s office and heard giggles of a girl. Curiosity got the best of me, and I hoped it wasn’t Blaze. I don’t know why I was thinking of him, but I was. I peeked inside and saw Zac on top of this girl making out. My eyes widen and I shut the door silently and quickly. I scurried back down the hall and into the nearest room which was Blaze’s office.

He looked up from his desk at me. “I’m sorry I’m in here again, I was almost in an awkward moment. Uhm dinner is ready.” I rushed out. Blaze again looked indifferent, but got up anyway.

Once we were eating I decided to study Blaze. I wanted to know why he was so stoic all the time. I’ve never felt the strong desire to make someone who wasn’t family; happy, but with him I do. I want him to smile and show emotions again, but then again I just met him, so I’ll put that feeling away for a while.

“Hey Blaze,” I asked suddenly, causing his head to snap up from his empty plate. “Since tomorrow’s Saturday, I was thinking we could maybe take my brother to the park and do some errands.” Then I quickly added, “If you’re not busy, or if you don’t want to, that’s fine I won’t f-“

“Okay” he said simply.

“You’re going?” I asked confused, shocked that he was agreeing. He nodded his head, and I beamed at him, grabbing his plate and putting it in the sink.

I grabbed his hand ignoring the butterflies and pulled him upstairs to our rooms. I was bouncing with excitement. I haven’t seen my brother in a while, and I had to see him again.

I saw Blaze’s face twitch up again, and you could tell it was an almost smile. I dropped his hand and kissed him on the cheek and told him I’d see him tomorrow. Before I walked into my room, I thought I saw him smile, a real smile. But I could just be imagining it.

Again sorry if it was boring! Comment and Vote!!! That'd be nice. Tell me what you like about the characters, what you hate, what you wish? Did you think the song matched?
