Chapter 19

A week later

Mariana and Jack were in the parking lot going out for lunch when they spotted Alex.

" Hey Alex” Mariana said when he approached them.

“Hey boss”

“What are you doing out here? ”

“I ordered pizza am waiting for the delivery”

“Well me and Jack are going to meatopia, wanna come with? ”

“Sorry boss wish I could but my pizza is here” Alex pointed at the delivery man who was walking towards them with two boxes of pizza in his hands. Alex paid for the pizza and excused himself but Mariana stopped him.

“Alex what if you bring the pizza along we could eat on the way and order less food at the restaurant, what do you say? And I promise you. You will love the food Mwizukanji just opened the restaurant and a lot of people are already praising her for the good work”

“Okay I will come along”

The trip to the restaurant was not fun and exciting Mariana thought it would be instead it was quiet and awkward. Jack and Alex would argue some of the time over silly things which made Mariana regret going with both of them.

Jack pulled the car over across the road side. Mariana got out of the car followed by Alex who stood beside her looking around the area he was confused.

Mariana looked up at him and noticed ” What’s up with that look? ”

" Nothing boss am just surprised this place is crowded I can’t even see a thing properly ”

“Haha it is always like this”

“What is this place called? ”

“Never been here? ”

“Yes am new to the country”

“Oh I see then I will have to give you a tour that means you have not seen Lusaka yet ” Mariana chuckled ” Well this place is called ′ Town’ it’s just like any other market place and everything like that but the difference is it large, has different shops and stores and people consider things in town cheaper than markets to save money”

“Wow impressive hope I won’t get lost”

" Don’t worry Alex, with me and Jack by your side you surely won’t get lost, right Jack? ” Mariana looked the other way to look at Jack but he was not there. Mariana got her phone from her pocket and was about to call Jack when a message popped up on her screen it was from Jack it was sent fifteen minutes ago.

( hey My sorry I left without telling you I just got bored with you explaining everything to Alex. You will find me at meatopia and I have the pizza with me.)

(Wow you won’t talk to the person but you want to eat his pizza? )

Mariana didn’t wait for Jack to reply she shoved her phone back in her pant pocket. Mariana sighed and looked up at Alex ” It looks like we have to start walking it’s only me and you now ”

“What about Jack? ”

" He is already at meatopia. Jack is totally something else, shall we move ? ”

Alex nodded and Mariana led the way. It took them about twenty minutes to reach the place and thankfully they didn’t need to look for Jack as he was sitting on one of the tables that were set outside. Mariana sat beside Jack while Alex sat opposite them.

" Damn Jack you already ate half the pizza ” Mariana said getting one slice of the pizza.

" Well couldn’t help it”

" So what did you order? ”

" Fish and nshima ”

“Without vegetables”

" You won’t die if you eat your food with no vegetables ”

" I didn’t say that ”

The food came and Mariana could not wait to eat. She stood up and went inside the restaurant. It didn’t take long when she came back with three bottles of mineral water in her hands.

" Why did you go get bottles of water? ”

" Well for washing our hands”

" But there is a case of water here” Jack said lifting the case of water for Mariana to see.

" Really Jack Why didn’t you tell me? ”

" You didn’t ask ”

" Yeah ”

Mariana turned to face Alex and handed him a bottle of water.

" Try the food Alex and tell me how it tastes ”

Alex nodded and chewed his food ” It’s great ”

" First time eating nshima ”

" No second time someone cooked for me and it was delicious ”

" That’s great”

They all ate there food and were full. Mariana talking to each guy with a different topic. Mariana thought how silly Alex and Jack was it was only a silly misunderstanding so why can’t they just forget it.
