chapter nine

though Alex wasn't linked to her siblings, she still wanted them all unlinked. so when Klaus offered her to join him in finding her family, she couldn't resist. she used a locator spell to track down Finn first, and the hybrids and Rebekah set off.
"hello, my dear brother Finneus" Alex spoke, hopping beside her brother with a smile.
"hello, Aleksandra," he said in a monotonous voice, "I have no intent on speaking with you two"
"well that's too bad, because I would like to have a chat," Klaus then walked up beside them, "where is our mother?"
Finn gave no glance to them, "gone to find another way to end our abonminable lives. and when she does, I will sacrifice myself all over again"
Klaus speaks up, "how forturnate that I found you, then. I require your assistance"
Finn chuckled, "I have no wish to help you. only to see you dead"
"well, that's the thing. you see, you won't be able to see me dead because if I die, then you die, so it's a wish unfulfilled"
"oh, go bother someone else with your hollow charms, Niklaus"
Alex walks across the crosswalk with them, "oh, but we find so much joy in bothering our eldest brother, Finneus... now, we need you to come with us back to Mystic Falls because we happen to have a witch who can help me undo mother's spell that linked you lot together"
"I have no wish to be unlinked!"
Klaus stands in front of their brother to stop him, "again with the wishes. let me rephrase- you will come back with me or I will put you back in that coffin in which you rotted for 900 years"
"what happens to one happens to all. you may not feel the affects of the dagger, but you'd lose your precious Rebekah"
"wouldn't be the first time," Klaus smirks. Finn scoffs, rushing to the alleyway where Rebekah herself stood.
"let's not make this any worse than it has to be, darling brother" she said.
"you're siding with him?" Finn asked in disbelief, "Rebekah, he stored us in boxes"
"at least he's not trying to make us extinct" the blonde fired back.
Alex and Klaus appeared on the other side of Finn as he turned around, "what are you going to do? kill me?"
"ah, yes, that's right. you have a death wish," Alex used her magic to give her brother an aneurism, causing him to fall to the ground in pain, "but the rest of them don't"
the siblings threw Finn into the house back in Mystic Falls. after Alex's psychotic break a couple nights before, they fixed it right up and pretended like nothing happened. she told them that it was a one time thing, that it would never happen again, so they believed her and followed her wishes in forgetting it ever happened.
"gather the Bennett witch," Alex nodded to Klaus, "let's get his blood and get on with it"
"you can't force me to help you," Finn shook his head.
Alex took a daring step forward, "oh, I most certainly could... but why force when I can pursuade"
Sage, Finn's lover from 900 years ago, descended down the stairs. the two love birds ran to each other and wrapped in each other's embrace.
"what do you know, true love prevails" Rebekah spoke. she turned to Klaus who finished sending their brother Kol a text, "what do you need me to do for the spell? I have something to do"
"just your blood and your blessing. where are you going?"
"I have some unfinished business with Damon Salvatore,"
Alex perked up and claps, "oh, splendid! torture is just what the man deserves," she turns and walks out the door, "come on, Niklaus. it's time to get the witch bitch"

the siblings decided that Bonnie Bennett would be the witch of choice to help Alex. two witches are better than one, and Bonnie was powerful, so it was perfect.
"tick tock. I should hear chanting by now" Klaus says, walking into the room.
"witch bitch over here wants to keep studying the spell" Alex groans. she knew every spell from those grimoires forwards and backwards.
"it's not that easy, especially under duress" Bonnie says, standing up, and reffering to the impatient Mikaelson's, "I just don't know if i'm strong enough"
Alex vamps over to her, "have a little faith in yourself, bonnet. if a witch doesn't believe she can do a spell, she'll never be able to. you're a powerful one, my dear, and I believe that by channeling me, a powerful 1,000 year old heretic, you can unlink my siblings"
Bonnie hesitates, knowing that by keeping them linked, they all could be killed. but Alex would show revenge like no other, so she obliged. the witches set the table, placing 5 lighted candles in a pentagon shape. Alex grabs the glass of Klaus' blood and pours the rest of her family's blood into it. it mixes, and she pours it onto the table. Alex grabs onto Bonnie's hand to make the spell stronger, and the two start to chant.
the fire from the candles ignites brighter as the spell continues. the pool of blood turns into five as the siblings are unlinked. Alex turns to face Bonnie and squeezes her hand gently, "thank you, Bonnie. you're free to go"
the Bennett witch immediately rushes out at the order. Alex grins and engulfs her brother in a hug, "you're free, Nik. we're one step closer to bringing our family back"
for the first time in a while, the hybrid genuinely smiles and hugs his youngest sister, the one he fought to keep safe for nearly a thousand years, "indeed we are, dear sister"
"Klaus! I'm here!" a voice shouts through the house. the hybrids plus Rebekah all walk into the room a bloodied and beaten Damon was in and saw Stefan. he was the last person she wanted to see. after he left her alone and sad and angry at the ball, she hadn't talked to him since. she now knew where he stood with her, and she had to respect that. but Alex wasn't good at that, so she concealed her sadness with anger.
"oh, good, a hero to save the damsel in distress," Alex narrows her eyes at her ex, "what do you want?"
Stefan drops a duffle bag in front of the siblings, "I'm here to make a deal"
"Stefan, what are you doing?" Damon groans in pain.
"eight stakes made of white oak. the part of the Wickery Bridge you forgot to burn"
Klaus looks at his blonde sister who shakes her head, "that's impossible"
"actually it's not," Stefan says, "Finn is dead"
those words set off a trigger in Alex. for a thousand years she had been torn apart from her siblings, her family, the people who made her whole. Finn, her protector and mentor, for the longest. yes, he had just recently tried to kill himself and her siblings, but he was still family. and the fact that someone she loved with her whole heart helped kill her eldest brother didn't help at all.
"you killed my brother?" Alex asked rhetorically, slowing walking towards Stefan, "was it some sick way to get back at me? you know what, I don't care! see this, Stefan Salvatore, I will destroy you and everyone you love all with the lift of my finger!" at this point Alex was screaming in rage. her eyes were bright red, and a sudden wind came into the room. items started to fly everywhere as the anger in the little witch grew stronger.
Klaus puts a hand on Alex's shoulder, "Aleksandra! stop this now!"
Alex turns to her brother with tears falling down her face, "Finn is dead because of them," she sobs.
Klaus looks up at the Salvatore's then back at his brunette sister, "go, Alek. we will handle them"
Alex nods, taking one last look at the men two who's lives she would now ruin and rushed off to her room to clean up her face, but her anger and sadness was too strong. she cried out in heartbreak and sorrow, tears streaming down her face. this was one of the worst pains the heretic could've ever felt, the loss of her eldest brother. it felt as if she was reliving the pain of her twins death all over again. and that kind of emotional pain is far worse than an physical torture.
once the Salvatore's left, Alex stood with Klaus in the parlor. she looked at a picture she had printed out and framed of herself and Finn before he died. she did this with all her siblings, so that she'd have physical memory of them being reunited after so long of being apart. Finn was smiling, something only Alex could make him do. the girl brought joy to all of her siblings, and they with her.
"I can't believe Finn is dead," she spoke in a sad tone. of course she would mourn her brother, he was family, and family meant the world to her.
"good riddance. he was an embarrassment" Klaus scoffed, back to his usual 'I don't care' façade.
Alex turned to him sharply, "he was still your brother. mind your tongue"
Klaus raised his glass of bourbon, "fine. let's all say a prayer for Finn who slept in a box longer than he lived as a man. he was a lovesick fool. he's better off in death"
Alex stared in disbelief at her brother's shallowness. she walked over to him with a scowl, "is that how you would feel if I died? if Bex died?"
"you're too easily weakened. you care too much. not to mention your desire for Tyler could lead you to turn against me, so I guess we'll find out soon enough. same goes for your precious Stefan. since when did your soft spot for him grow again?"
"the Salvatore's may fight like dogs, but in the end they would die for each other. at least they know what family means," she fired back with tears in her eyes, "you destroyed ours"
"I wanted a family. they just didn't want me. and now we're unlinked, we're not responsible for each other. and you, you're free from your curse forever"
Alex inhales and exhales sharply, "so what, you're leaving? running away again?"
"as soon as I get my stakes, I'm gone. I'm gonna take Elena and use her blood to create a new family- of hybrids," Klaus then pours himself a drink.
"and if Rebekah and I choose to stay?"
Klaus looks into his sisters eyes, "then you're just as pathetic as Finn"
Alex shook in anger. how could he betray her like this? her family? he told her he fought for her to stay alive for years, and now he wants to throw it all away just like that. she took a step closer to him and slapped him in the face, her next words dripping with hurt and anger.
"and you're just as bad as our father"
