the library held an awkward silence full of tension after Rebekah spilled the not so secret secret. lately it had been obvious that Stefan still loved Alex, he looked at her now the same way he did back then. but right now there were complications, one of them being the vampire doppelganger looking at both Stefan and Alex with looks of anger and betrayal.
Elena finally decided to speak of after five minutes of silence, "you slept with Alex? she's tried to kill all of us!"
Alex glared at the other brunette, not liking the fact that Elena was acting as if she was the only bad guy, "I know my memory is a bit fuzzy, but If i recall correctly, you have tried to kill me and my siblings multiple times. and your brother has actually killed me. my trying to harm you was just revenge for you acting out over jealously"
"jealously?" Elena scoffed, "you think I'm jealous of you?"
"why of course, darling, everyone is," the heretic smirked, "you especially because you hate the fact that I had Stefan's heart before you did"
Caroline sat up, "okay, enough!" she groaned, "this has nothing to do with the cure"
Rebekah sighed, "you're right, we're getting off topic... but I have one more question for this one," she moved from Elena to Stefan looking into his eyes to compel him, "tell me, Stefan. what's the real reason why you pursued Elena Gilbert?"
Stefan's eyes glossed over, but still looked at both Elena and Alex before speaking, "she looked just like Katherine, but she reminded me of Alex; everything did. Alex was dead, but I saw her in Elena, and I couldn't let that go,"
Stefan would admit that he did fall in love with Elena, and not just because she reminded him of the pierce girls. he did love her, a part of him always would, but deep down Stefan knew who his heart truly belonged to.
"sister...look at this! you're even worse than Klaus" a male voice spoke as they barged into the library. Alex knew that voice all too well, it was the voice of her best friend, her anchor, and her favorite brother.
Rebekah sighed, glad that this sad fest was now over, "Kol, finally. did you bring what I asked for?"
Kol shoves Shane into the library, "you must be Shane," Rebekah says, walking over towards Kol and the professor.
Alex attempts to sit up in her seat, but the vervained ropes burn with each move causing her to hiss in pain. Kol takes notice of this and darts his eyes towards Rebekah, "why is our little sister tied up, Rebekah?"
Rebekah smiles, "Aleksandra's here to help me out with a little game I'm playing..." the blonde original grabbed a pair of gloves from her back pocket and used them to let her sister free, "and it turns out Stefan went back to her after Elena broke his heart, which not going to lie, seems a bit like revenge seeing as Elena jumped the sack with Damon..." she backed away towards Kol as the ropes were dropped and Alex held her wrists as she glared at her sister, "but I guess you can't control what your heart wants."
once Alex was healed she huffed with crossed arms, "you seem upset about it too, Rebekah. are you jealous that I got him in bed again before you could?"
"enough!" both Stefan and Kol shouted before the two sisters could brawl. Kol rolled his eyes before speaking again while nodding his head towards Shane, "do you want to torture him or shall I?"
Alex grabs Shane by his arm and began to walk out, "I would like to do the honors," she says harshly, "I've had a bad day"
the three originals then walk until they find a supply closet and then shove the professor in it before walking in themselves.
"Kol, Aleksandra, and Rebekah Mikaelson, three members of the original vampire family," Shane says in shock, "this is such a trip"
Rebekah steps in front of him and tries to compel him, "where's the cure?"
"compulsion won't work. It's a little trick I picked up in Tibet," he says with a small smile.
"right. well then we'll have to do this the old-fashioned way," Rebekah turns to her siblings, "beat him until he tells you where it is"
Alek grins and approaches the professor, "a cure for vampirism... sounds fascinating," she then grabs him by his neck and lifts him off the ground by an inch, "tell me more"
Shane gasps for air but is able to talk, "you're the immortal witch hybrid, right? I've heard stories about you... the cure can free you from the dark magic caused by your immortality"
the thought of not having to live through the pain of dark magic and the curse it brought to her sounded relieving to the brunette hybrid, "then tell me where it is, darling"
Shane's silence angered the other original, Kol, so he took matters into his own hands and filled the sink beside him with water and Alex shoved Shane's head into it.
"where is the cure!?" Kol shouts as Alex brings Shane's head back up and dumps it back into the water multiple times. Rebekah had joined them after her other siblings tried to drown him three times.
"you're human," Rebekah speaks up, "why do you want it anyway?"
Shane breathes heavily while trying to catch his breath, "that's the beauty of this. You can have it. I just want Silas"
"no!" Kol grabs him by the collar and lifts him away from the water, "what do you know about Silas?"
"he's the world's first immortal being, who just happens to be imprisoned with the cure and I want to free him"
Kol rushes toward the sink of water and puts Shane's head in the water once again, but Rebekah stops him, "stop! He's of no use dead"
Kol once again lifts him out and turns to his blonde sister, "did you not hear what he said? Silas will kill us all, sister"
Alex scoffs, "Silas does not exist. he is a fairy tale made up to scare children into eating their vegetables"
Shane turns to Alex, "they say the same about you. the dark ripper, destroyer of Europe, yet here you are," he then looks at the other two, "I know where he's buried, and soon I'll have the spell that wakes him"
Kol shakes his head, "wait a second. you're lying. you can't get to him without his..."
"tombstone? dozens to die in a blood sacrifice? believe me, I know. I've done it. those massacres are a pain to engineer"
realization hits all of them, "you're the one who got the council blown up and got my brother to kill his hybrids," Alex speaks up.
Shane nods, "It was a noble sacrifice... and temporary because once I raise Silas... Silas will raise the dead. he will bring back every last soul... who died on his behalf"
Kol grabs a wooden rod from beside him and shoves it into Shane's chest, "no!"
they watch as Shane slumps up against the sink, dead. Alex turns to Kol with a scowl. she wanted that cure, "you just killed our only chance at finding this bloody cure!"
"you should be thanking me. Silas on the loose would be hell on earth. and frankly, sisters... I don't think you could handle it"
"I am hell on earth, Kol!" Alex shouts. she stands face to face with her brother, "I will find the cure, and when I do, I will kill Silas myself"

the next day, Alex took a taxi to Whitmore College. she wanted that cure for herself, she wanted to be free from the dark magic that haunted her for hundreds of years. and since everyone else who was a vampire also wanted the cure, she knew that she had to find it on her own before someone else could get their hands on it. the only clues she had was that Professor Shane knew pretty much everything when it came to the cure, so that's why she was at the College, to find out everything he knew.
Alex knew that going into Shane's office herself would be risky, she didn't know if he or someone else would be in there. a thought come to mind as the taxi driver stopped in front of the College, "time to pay up"
"I have a different idea of payment," Alex grabbed his neck from the back seat and turned his head so that he could look into her eyes, "I need you to go into Professor Shane's office and find me a large block of stone. if anyone asks you why you want it, I want you to bite your tongue off, then take the closest object to you and stab yourself in the neck"
Alex fed him a vile of vervain before sending him off. she didn't want any suspicions of him being compelled incase there were any unwanted guests lurking around the office as well. she made sure to keep an eye on the man from a distance, and once he got into the office, she waited at the door. she could hear two other heartbeats inside the room, and the sound of struggling before it was silent.
"I guess he was compelled," a familiar male voice spoke.
someone sighed, "was it my bastard brother or yours?" Alex realized that her sister was in there with Stefan.
"maybe it's option number three. there's another team in the race"
Alex took this as her cue to walk through the door, "ding, ding, ding! we have a winner"
Rebekah's eyes widen, "what are you doing here, sister? don't tell me you're seriously looking for the cure as well"
"why wouldn't I?" Alex tilted her head to the side with furrowed brows, "seems you two have made quite the duo, though I am hurt that neither of you asked me to join this little rendezvous"
the two vampires stayed silent, still in shock that Alex was the one behind the compelled man who now laid dead on the floor, and the fact that she was willing to go to such lengths to get the cure. neither of them knew of the troubles she went through because of her immortality.
Alex hummed before raising her hand causing both vampires to fall to the ground, clutching their heads in pain. she stepped around then, grabbing the headstone from the desk behind them, "i'll be taking this with me. I hope you don't mind, I just need that cure, and i'll stop both of you if I have to to get it"
she released them from the spell and just as she was about to walk out the door she turned around to face them with a stoic expression, "and Stefan, if what you feel about me is true word, I would stop this nonsense. just like Katerina and I, we don't like sharing our men"
