xi. The Other Side of Hollywood

Hey Angel ~ Julie and the Phantoms6,402 words~33 min read

The four ghosts are now leaning their elbows against the railing while looking out at the people mingling about in the main area of the club. Luke looks over at Angelina before looking past her at another part of the club as Reggie speaks up while shaking his head, "I don't know about this."

Luke turns his head and looks past Reggie to look at that part of the room. Angelina looks over at Alex, who tells Reggie, glancing at the raven haired boy, "Well, if you get scared, you... you can always hide behind me." Reggie looks over at Alex, who looks back out at the club. Alex moves to stand behind Luke as he adds, "I'll be hiding behind Luke."

Luke looks forward as he throws out his hand and tells the two, "You guys need to grow up, okay? We're gonna get back at Bobby." Alex moves back to the place where he was just standing in and Luke shakes his head before continuing, "He needs to pay for what he did to us." Reggie nods his head, agreeing with what Luke said.

He looks over at Alex, who looks back at the brown haired boy and agrees, "Yeah." The blonde drummer leans over to Reggie and loudly whispers, "I'm still gonna hide behind him." Reggie looks over at Alex as Luke turns his head and looks to Angelina while rolling his eyes.

Grinning, Angelina puts her hand on Luke's shoulder and assures him, "Don't worry, Luke. You can hide behind me." He playfully glares at the blonde, who gives him a sweet smile before a large grin crosses his own face. Reggie turns his head and looks back out at the club.

Willie poofs next to Angelina and leans onto the railing along with the four ghosts, who turn their attention to him as he tells them, "We're all good."

Alex stands up and turns to his crush before pointing at him and saying, "Oh, uh, cool." Luke leans back and grabs Angelina to pull her back as well so Willie can see Alex. Willie looks at the Mercer boy, who remembers, "Hey, just so you know, we have, like, an hour, because we got a gig with Julie."

Willie shakes his head as he says, "Oh yeah. No worries."

"Cool," Alex whispers.

Willie stands up straight and says, "Let's go." He leads the four ghosts to a set of stairs. He walks down a couple of steps before leaning on the banister that goes up the middle of the stairs as he tells them, "Normally, I'd have my deck, and I'd backboard this heavy twenty set, but tonight..." The four ghosts stop walking down the stairs and stop in front of Willie, who holds up his hand and adds, "We have company." He sits on top of the railing and tells the four, "Hope you guys are ready for this." He chuckles as they watch him slide down the banister. He lets out a "Whoo!" once he reaches the bottom and hops off it. He gestures his hand out to the club in a grand fashion to bring the four ghosts' attention to it.

The group of four stare in awe and Alex lets out a, "Wow!" The blonde drummer looks over to his best friends and asks them, "Are you guys seeing what I'm seeing?"

Luke tilts his head before popping the collar of his jacket as he says, "I think we're a little overdressed."

Luke wraps his arm around Angelina's shoulder and leads her down the stairs. Alex and Reggie follow as the Peters boy lets out a "Hmm," as he adjusts his leather jacket and runs his hand over his hair, to make sure that it looks perfect.

They join Willie at the bottom of the stairs, stopping to look around the place. A laughing couple walks through Alex and Willie and don't even acknowledge the five ghosts that are standing there. Willie looks over at Alex and laughs while the blonde drummer looks to his crush and smiles. Angelina and Luke look over at the two with a knowing smile on their faces. Reggie speaks up, watching the couple walk away, "Whoa! I thought these people were all going to be ghosts."

Luke and Angelina look over at Reggie as Alex and Willie turn to face the raven haired boy, the latter of the two gestures to the people and says, "These are all lifers."

Alex looks over at Willie with a look of realization as he turns back to his best friends and explains, "Oh, uh, lifers are actually..."

Willie looks over to Alex and Reggie throws his pointer finger up, cutting Alex off while stating, "Alive people. I was listening." Luke looks over at Reggie and Angelina smirks at her twin, who gives her an annoyed look.

Willie holds up his hand and explains, "But this is a very exclusive crowd." He turns to Alex, who looks back at him as he continues, "Everybody here has, uh, paid a lot to get a sneak peek at the afterlife." Luke looks at the two boys in front of him and Angelina has her eyes on the brown haired boy next to her, who still has his arm wrapped around her.

Luke looks out at the people conversing in the room and Reggie speaks up, "I always knew rich people did weird stuff like this."

Angelina turns her gaze away from Luke as a man, wearing a white suit walks up and stands between her and Alex. The four boys look over at him as he holds out his hands and says, "Gentlemen and lady, I have a table for you." They move out of the way and the man gestures to the table as he adds, "Right this way." He walks forward and the five ghosts follow after him.

When they reach the table, Willie is the first to sit down and Alex takes the seat next to him. Luke removes his arm from Angelina's shoulder as she sits next to her twin and Luke sits down on the other side of her. Reggie sits down next to Luke as he looks around the room at all the people. The man walks up to Willie and puts his hand on the boy's shoulder as he calls the boy's name, "William."

Willie turns to the man, who grabs the reserved sign and the boy says, "Oh yeah. Thanks, man."

Reggie scratches his head as he looks around the room and Luke looks at Willie, asking him, "Okay. So who's gonna make us visible so we can confront our old bandmate?" The three other ghosts turn their attention to Willie as they wait for his answer.

Willie furrows his brows and says, "Oh no, no. None of these lifers have the power to do that." Luke looks to Alex in confusion and the lights of the club start to dim. Alex is looking around and Willie notices the dimmed lights and excitedly says, "Oh, but here comes the ghost who does." Willie shakes Alex's shoulder causing the blonde drummer to look at the long haired boy. Light music starts to play and Willie hits the table in excitement before turning to the stage in front of them.

A voice starts to announce, "Ladies and gentlemen," Reggie and Alex look around the room, looking for a place where the voice could be coming from. Angelina puts her hand on Luke's leg, causing the boy to look over at her. She gives him a bright smile before she removes her hand and looks back to the stage. Luke keeps his eyes on Angelina, with a longing look on his face. The voice continues, "Back from the dead by popular demand, please welcome Caleb Covington!"

The crowd starts to cheer and Willie cups his hands around his mouth and lets out, "Woo-hoo-hoo!" A man, presumably Caleb Convington, appears floating in the air above the stage, causing Alex, Luke, and Reggie to turn their gazes to him. He is wearing a purple blazer with long coattails, a purple vest, a black dress shirt, black pants, and a long black cape with gold details on it. The crowd continues to cheer and Willie throws his hand into the air and lets out another, "Woo-hoo-hoo!"

Caleb holds out his hands and asks the crowd, "Did you miss me?"

The crowd, including Willie, shout back, "Oh yeah!" Angelina and Luke look at each other, while Alex and Reggie look around at the crowd.

"I did too!" Caleb tells the audience. The crowd laughs and Willie looks back at the four ghosts, laughing as well. Alex smiles at Willie while Reggie, Angelina, and Luke turn their attention back to the floating man. Caleb starts to float down a little bit as he says, "Welcome... to the party of your dreams."

The crowd cheers again and Willie puts his left hand up to his mouth and lets out one last, "Whoo-hoo-hoo-hoo!" Luke looks around before he starts to clap as he lifts up his leg and rests it on the seat of his chair.

When the crowd's cheers die down, Caleb speaks up again, slowly lowering in the air, "From the Egyptians to the Druids," Luke and Alex look at each other over Angelina's head as Caleb continues, making gestures with his hands, "To the person sitting next to you, we've all wondered, 'Where do we go when that final light is snuffed out?'" Reggie looks over at Alex, who leans forward and rests his arm on the table. "Allow me to show you," Caleb tells the audience before he starts to sing, floating forward.

Caleb

Let me introduce myself

We got some time to kill

Consider me the pearly gates

Reggie and Luke look to their left and Alex leans back in his seat. Willie starts bouncing his leg and Angelina taps her hand on the table to the beat of the music.

To your new favorite thrills

Luke and Reggie turn their attention back to Caleb and Angelina starts to smile, nodding her head to the song. Caleb stops floating forward once he is right in front of their table, still in the air.

We could go make history

Or you could rest in peace

But here there ain't no misery

'Cause on the other side

We live like kings

He starts to float backwards as he waves his arms in the air.

What you gonna do?

What you gonna do?

Willie looks back at Alex, patting the blonde boy's knee before turning back to Caleb. Alex glances at the boy he has a crush on while Luke leans forward and rests his arm on his leg that is still on the chair. Reggie has a look of amazement on his face.

Let your body loose

Reggie leans forward still amazed while Luke starts to rock out, nodding his head and knocking his knuckles against the tables with his mouth held open.

Let your body loose

Caleb points his finger out toward the crowd.

What you gonna do?

What you gonna do?

Show you a thing or two

Caleb lowers himself down onto the stage and Reggie leans forward with his brows furrowed in anticipation.

'Cause you ain't seen nothing

Caleb does a grand gesture with his arms and kneels on the ground. Out of nowhere, the band, two dancers, and the man who led the group of five to their table appear behind Caleb. Shock appears on the faces of everyone in the crowd while Willie and Reggie even jump in their seats. The smile on Angelina's face gets even bigger and she lets out a surprised laugh.

Caleb & Dancers

Life is good on the other side of Hollywood

Caleb stands up as the man walks up to him and removes the cape that Caleb was wearing. The two dancers, wearing blue outfits and have dark and light blue wigs, holding big blue and purple feather fans dance over to Caleb.

Life is good on the other side of Hollywood

The two dancers kneel down next to Caleb and shake the feather fans. Willie starts to laugh and clap his hands before he turns back to Alex. Luke smiles and looks over at Angelina, smiling wider at the happy expression on the blonde girl's face. Alex smiles as well and Reggie's jaw is dropped open. The two dancers stand up and spin around in a circle next to Caleb. The two dancers link arms with Caleb and they walk to one side of the stage.

So welcome to the brotherhood

Caleb and the two girls turn and walk the other way.

Where you won't be misunderstood

Caleb throws up his hands and the two dancers dance around him.

Life is good on the other side of Hollywood

Caleb grabs one of the girls and dips her. He brings her back up and lets go before he walks down the steps of the stage, his hands on his purple blazer. Servers, wearing pink blazers and black dress pants come out, holding serving trays with desserts on them. Once Caleb is off the last step, the waiters circle around him, holding out the trays toward the five ghosts.

Caleb

Everything has got a price

But happiness is free

Caleb walks up to their table as he continues to sing.

Just so happens you're in luck

The servers stop dancing and hold up their trays, two of them right in front of Caleb. Luke looks at the food longingly as he continues to dance in his seat.

We got a vacancy

Caleb pushes the two servers away from him. They move away from the ghosts' table and Reggie watches them as they leave. A cane is thrown at Caleb and the man catches it in his outstretched hand.

We can set the night on fire

He brings the cane up and grabs it with his other hand, running it down the cane. He starts to dance with it.

And break out of the scene

The man in the white suit walks up to the table and leans between Willie and Alex as he takes the centrepiece away. Alex turns and watches the man walk away. Willie puts his hand on Alex's shoulder and gets the boy's attention, "Hey, hey. Look." He gestures to Caleb and Alex looks at the man in purple.

Your soul print on the walk of fame

Caleb grabs the middle of the tablecloth and swirls it around.

On the boulevard of your wildest dreams

He yanks the tablecloth off the table and a girl in pink appears on top of the table. The five ghosts jump back into their seats in surprise. She stands up and starts to dance as Caleb runs around to the other side of the table.

What you gonna do?

The five ghosts look up at the dancer in amazement. Luke glances back at Caleb, who is now standing behind Angelina.

What you gonna do, boys?

The girl on the table stands with her legs apart. Luke grabs Angelina and pulls the girl into him as Caleb leans onto the table, in between the girl's legs.

Let your body loose

The five ghosts lean forward to look at Caleb, who looks over to Reggie, Luke, and Angelina. Reggie waves at the man dressed in purple.

Let your body loose

Caleb then turns his head and looks at Alex and Willie. Caleb stands back up and the girl on the table leans down on it. Caleb puts his hand on Luke's shoulder.

What you gonna do?

Angelina moves back to her chair as the five ghosts watch Caleb make his way over to Reggie. He puts his hand on the raven haired boy's shoulder as the twins smile at the dancing girl.

What you gonna do, boys?

The girl spins around on the table and sticks out her leg in Reggie's face. Caleb lets go of Reggie's shoulder and grabs her foot. The raven haired boy has his mouth wide open.

It ain't bragging if it's true

Caleb throws the girl's foot away and she spins before she slides off the table.

Now, you ain't seen nothing

The servers whip the tablecloths on the rest of the tables and dancers appear on those ones too. Caleb moves back behind Angelina, who turns in her chair to watch him. The three other ghosts, excluding Reggie, look at the man behind Angelina as well. The girl in pink dances away and Reggie watches after her in awe. Caleb spins around in a circle before he poofs away.

Caleb & Dancers

Life is good on the other side of Hollywood

He appears back on the stage, both hands holding the top of the cane. The five ghosts turn their attention back to Caleb and the dancers in front of them.

Life is good on the other side of Hollywood

The servers run to the dancers still on the tables and the five ghosts watch them. The dancers atop the tables jump into the arms of the waiting servers, who leads them back to the stage.

So welcome to the brotherhood

Where you won't be misunderstood

Life is good on the other side of Hollywood

Caleb turns around and throws the cane before poofing away. The cane flies through the air and the man appears directly in front of the band and catches it. He starts to hit his hand with the top of his cane, indicating the crowd to start clapping. The band stops playing their instrument and claps along with him. The five ghosts start to dance in their seats and clap along.

Caleb

The rain don't blind the rising souls

They got too much to see

He puts the cane onto the ground and holds it with his other hand as he sings into it.

I got your glamour, got your gold

Got all you'll ever need

He puts his hand up to his ear.

Let me hear you now

Dancers (Caleb)

The rain don't blind the rising souls

Willie smiles and looks back at Alex while Reggie looks back at Luke, who has his eyes on a laughing Angelina. Regie smirks and turns his head back to the performance.

They got too much to see (yeah)

Caleb sits down in front of the band and sets his cane down. He leans back and throws his hands in the air while he lifts up his legs.

I got your glamour, got your gold (ooh)

Got all you'll ever need

The band starts playing again and everyone stops clapping but the five ghosts continue to dance in their seats. Caleb stands up and walks onto the stage.

Caleb

Yeah, Yeah, I said, watch me make a move

Watch me make a move, boys

He runs down the stairs of the stage with his hands on his suit jacket.

Dancers

What you gonna do?

What you gonna do?

When he reaches the floor he dances and some dancers copy his movements.

Caleb

I said, watch me make a move

No, I don't disappoint

Caleb throws his hands into the air. Willie vigorously bounces his foot to the music as he throws his hands out toward Caleb and sings.

Dancers & Willie

What you gonna do?

What you gonna do?

Caleb and the dancers walk forward to the table the five ghosts are seated at.

Caleb

Amen!

Watch me make a move

I'm your number one choice

Caleb does another dance move and the dancers copy him again.

Dancers

What you gonna do?

What you gonna do?

Caleb spins around in a circle.

Caleb

Watch me make a move

Come on, now give me that noise

Caleb walks forward and the dancers spin onto the floor.

A tomb with a view

Caleb and the dancers gesture up to rings that are hanging from the ceiling on either side of the room.

Ain't it something?

A girl appears in each ring as they flip around in them. The crowd cheers and claps for the two girls. Reggie slowly stands up staring at the one girl in awe. Luke grabs Reggie's shoulder and yanks him back into his seat before he wraps his other arm around the raven haired boy and stares at the girl in awe as well. Alex has his arm resting on Willie's shoulder as the two of them look up at one of the girls in one of the rings.

Angelina leans over to Luke, not taking her eyes off the girl in the ring as she asks the boy, "Can you imagine me doing that?"

A blush flames Luke's cheeks as he nods his head before replying to the Mercer girl, "Definitely." Due to her words, the boy can't see anything but Angelina swinging and twirling around the suspended rings.

Life

Once the singing continues, the five ghosts look back to Caleb and dance in their seats once more.

Caleb & Dancers

Is good on the other side of Hollywood

Yeah, life is good on the other side of Hollywood

Caleb turns around and walks back to the stage, through the dancers.

So welcome to the brotherhood

Where you won't be misunderstood

The dancers part and Caleb turns back around to the audience.

Life is good on the other side of Hollywood

The dancers move back together and Caleb turns once more, continuing his walk to the stage. Once on the stage, he throws his arms out to the sides. And the dancers grab metal chairs and dance around with them.

So welcome to the brotherhood

Where you won't be misunderstood

The two dancers in blue dance up to Caleb, one of them with a black silk sheet. They bend down in front of Caleb and one of the girls hands the other one corner of the silk sheet.

Life is good on the other side of Hollywood

They shake the sheet as they stand up. The sheet is covering Caleb's body, stopping at his neck. A beat is hit and most dancers kneel down onto the ground, looking up at Caleb.

Caleb

Ain't it the best?

Another beat is hit and the dancers stand up, striking a pose as they look out at the audience.

Long live the dead!

There is a drum roll and the two girls shake the sheet up again, making Caleb hidden from the audience. They look out at the crowd and wave with their other hand as they say, "Bye, bye!" They throw the sheet down and Caleb has disappeared.

Once the music stops, everyone in the audience stands up and claps, including Alex, Angelina, and Luke. Reggie, however, is still in his seat, staring wide eyed and jaw dropped at the pink dancer sitting backwards on the metal chair in front of him. The music starts up again and the crowd continues to cheer. The girl that Reggie is staring at leans backwards and is looking at the audience upside down. Alex and Willie are laughing with each other as they cheer wildly.

Angelina notices Reggie and she nudges Luke, who looks at the blond in question. She nods her head to Reggie and Luke turns to the raven haired boy before grabbing Reggie's arm and pulling him out of his seat. Reggie starts wildy clapping as he doesn't move his eyes away from the dancer in pink. Angelina and Luke look at each other, letting out loud laughs before looking back at Reggie. The dancer that Reggie is staring at notices him and sends him a wink. This causes a smirk to grow on Reggie's face.

The dancer sits up and gets off the chair while Willie pats one of the dancing server's chest. When she walks by the table, Reggie watches her awestruck and waves at her. Luke stops clapping and rolls up the sleeves of his jacket and Alex is watching the dancers walk away with his hands in his pocket and a smile on his face. Willie adjusts his blazer before shouting, "Yeah! Whoo!" He turns around at pats Alex on the back.

The dancer looks back at Reggie as she continues walking and smiles at the bassist. A girl at another table dressed as Marilyn Monroe stands and waves at Reggie, causing the rest of the table which includes a man and another girl at her table to stand and wave as well. Reggie notices the three people and waves back at them while innocently saying, "Hi." Luke sits on top of the table as Reggie looks over at Willie and says, "This is so cool."

Willie looks over at Reggie and laughs while Alex glances to the audience before looking back at Reggie while saying, "Man, dude," He nudges Luke to get the brown haired boy's attention. They all turn to the blonde drummer as he continues, looking between the four other ghosts, "I knew I recognized him." Alex turns to Luke, who puts his leg up onto the table and turns his body so he could see everyone at the table. Luke looks up at Alex, who elaborates, "He's the guy that bumped into me outside the Orpheum."

Reggie looks over at Willie and everyone turns their attention to the raven haired boy as he says, "Wait." Angelina rests her chin on Luke's right shoulder and wraps her arm around his other shoulder as Reggie asks his question, "Isn't he that magician dude that died a horrible death doing one of his tricks?"

Angelina raises one of her eyebrows as Luke furrows his and looks concerned for the raven haired boy. Willie looks at a loss for words and Alex shrugs his shoulders before advising Reggie, "Yeah, I wouldn't really bring that up whenever we meet him." Luke nods his head, agreeing with Alex.

Willie glances at Alex before looking back to Reggie and says, "Yeah,"  Alex glances at Luke, who turns his head and looks at the blonde drummer before Alex turns his attention to Willie. Angelina looks over at the long haired as he looks between the group and tells them, "But you guys should come back when he shows one of his movies."

Luke notices how close his face is to Angelina's since he had turned his head in her direction to look at Willie. Butterflies swarm in his stomach and his heart does somersaults in his chest as Willie continues, "I mean, for Titanic, he literally floods the entire place." He turns and gestures to the room before turning back to the four ghosts and exclaims, "I mean, the guy has got skills." Willie lets out a chuckle and Alex smiles at the boy's enthusiasm.

Angelina moves away from Luke as he leans toward Willie, resting his right hand on the table and holding up his other hand as he clarifies, "Alright, but he could just like, wave his arms and make ghosts visible to lifers?"

Willie smirks and says, "Told you, the guy's got skills." Luke turns his head to look at Angelina. He grins at the blonde girl, who smiles back at him.

Reggie looks around and asks, causing the other ghosts to look at him, "So where'd he go?" The Peters boy turns his head in Angelina's direction and jumps when he sees Caleb standing behind the girl, saying, "Oh wow!" Alex and Willie turn their heads and see the man in purple, the latter putting his hand on the drummer's shoulder. Luke stands up when he notices Caleb and pulls Angelina to his side. "Found him! Ha!"

Caleb holds out his arms and greets, "Hello, boys, darling." Angelina scrunches up her face when he looks over at Alex and Willie. Caleb introduces himself, "Caleb Covington." She gives the man an awkward smile when he turns his head to look at the other three ghosts. "Welcome to the Hollywood Ghost Club," the man in purple says as Luke adjusts his jacket and rolls up his other sleeve. Caleb continues, "Enjoying the show?"

Luke waves his arms around wildly as he turns back to the stage and stutters, at a loss for words,  "Yo, that was... I mean... Did you... like..." They all smile at the ecstatic Patterson boy.

Angelina puts her hand on Luke's shoulder and says, "I think what he is trying to say is that the performance was spectacular." Luke nods his head and points at the blonde haired girl, agreeing with what she said.

Caleb laughs and nods his head while saying, "I know."

Luke furrows his eyebrows and turns back to Caleb as he says, "Right?"

"This is Alex, Angelina, Luke, and Reggie," Willie introduces the four ghosts as he gestures to each of them.

Alex lifts up his hand, which is in the pocket of his denim jacket as he says, "It's, uh, really nice to meet you."

Reggie throws up a peace sign and says, "'Sup?"

Caleb looks around at the four ghosts he just officially met and tells them, "The pleasure is mine." He gestures around the room before he gestures to the four ghosts as he continues, "Nothing warms my heart more than sharing this magic with new friends. Please, sit. Sit." Luke pulls over Angelina's chair to make room for Caleb to sit.

The man in the white suit pulls up a chair from another table for Caleb to sit on. They all sit down and Luke rests his arm on the back of Angelina's chair. Alex speaks up, "Uh, thank you for the invite."

"Of course. Of course!" Caleb responds to the blonde drummer. He looks to Willie before continuing, looking around at the five ghosts, "Now, my friend Willie" he points at the long haired boy before looking to Alex, who runs his hand through his hair before the man in purple continues, "Tells me that you kids have some magic of your own."

Alex clears his throat and says, "Well..." He glances at Willie and gestures to the boy with his thumb before turning back to Caleb and clarifying, "Willie and I?" Angelina leans forward and rests her head in her hand, giving her brother a knowing look. Alex looks off into space as he continues, "I mean, I wouldn't really call it magic," He shrugs his shoulders before looking back to Caleb. Willie looks over at Alex, who awkwardly laughs while saying, "But, I mean..."

Willie puts his hand on Alex's shoulder and cuts him off, "Oh, no, he means your ghost abilities. You know, like, to be seen by everybody when you play with Julie." Reggie and Luke look at Willie with shock written across their faces. They didn't know that Alex had mentioned their special talents to Willie. They simultaneously turn their heads to look at Alex, their shocked faces still apparent. Angelina on the other hand, knew that her brother most likely told Willie almost everything about them, since he is crushing hard on the boy. This didn't come as a surprise to her.

Alex awkwardly stares at Willie for a couple seconds. Angelina lets out a little cough and Alex snaps out of his daze, looking over at Caleb before saying, closing his eyes and pointing at Caleb, "No, totally. Right. No." He opens his eyes and points to his head, continuing in a high pitched voice, becoming flustered, "'Cause when you said it, I was like, 'Is that what he's saying?' 'Cause..." Caleb waves his hand, telling Alex to say no more and Angelina smirks at her brother before she leans back into her seat.

"Yeah, but we can't really, uh, wave our arms and do all this magic stuff," Luke says as he looks at Caleb while Reggie looks at Alex with his mouth hung open for a couple seconds before he turns his attention to Caleb. Alex subtly nods his head and points to Luke in agreement. Angelina looks at the brown haired boy and gives him a bright smile.

Caleb speaks up, looking around at the ghosts sitting at the table, "Well, I've had some practice. Our gifts are so rare, so special. It's not often I come across other spirits who possess similar talents. It's no surprise we found each other."

Luke glances at Reggie before looking back to Caleb, grinning as he agrees, lifting up his left hand before dropping back onto his lap, "Yeah, that definitely..."

The other ghosts look over at Luke and smile at him while Caleb speaks up, "If you'll forgive me, fellas, I gotta go pay the bills, if you know what I'm saying."

Angelina awkwardly laughs before she says, "No."

Caleb uncrosses his leg and stands up, putting a hand on Alex and Angelina's shoulder while saying, "I'll be back later to chat." They watch him as he walks away from the table and to a woman in a black evening gown. Luke lets out a breath, blowing his hair in the process and Caleb greets the woman, "My darling! Oh, look at that dress! Where have you been?"

Reggie points to Caleb and turns back to the other ghosts, who turn their attention to the raven haired boy as he talks, "I love that dude. Please tell me this party's never gonna end." Luke looks at Reggie with a grin and Angelina lets out a laugh.

•••

A few minutes later, the group splits up, talking to different people in the room. Angelina is standing near the back of the room, laughing at something the girl she was talking to said. Angelina turns her head and notices a giant clock on the wall. She gasps when she sees the time, she turns back to the girl and says, "I'm so sorry but I have to go." The girl nods at the blonde and walks away. Angelina turns around and tries to find the three boys who she deeply cares about. She stands on the tips of her toes, trying to look over the many people that are in the room.

When she doesn't spot them, she heads over to the stairs so she can get a higher view to find the boys. Right as she reaches the stairs, she looks up and comes face to face with Caleb Covington. He smiles at her and asks, "Where are you heading off to, my dear? You haven't stayed for dessert."

The Mercer girl internally cringes and gives him a fake laugh before she tells him, "Thank you so much for having us tonight, but I'm late for something really important."

He nods and says, "I perfectly understand. I was going to talk to you and the boys to offer you a place in the house band."

"I'm flattered, really," Angelina tells the man who happily smiles at her. "But," Angelina says, causing the smile to fall off of Covington's face, "I already have a band and I'm late for our first gig tonight. If you see the boys, can you tell them that they need to leave, like now. It's important."

Caleb gives the blonde a fake smile as he says, "Of course! But once you finish playing, you disappear as if you never even existed. You can't truly connect with the audience that way."

Angelina gives the man a tight lipped smile and says, "I don't need to connect with the audience. Not when I play with Julie or the boys. They are everything I ever truly need. An audience can't bring me the joy I feel when I play with the four of them. They are my family."

Caleb gives Angelina a forced smile as he tells the stubborn girl, "I perfectly understand. Family is everything. If you ever change your mind and reconsider my offer, you know where to find me. The Hollywood Ghost Club is always open." He gestures around to the club before he looks back at Angelina, giving her a big smile.

"Thanks. I'd love to come back," Angelina sarcastically tells the man. However, he doesn't seem to notice her use of sarcasm since he gives her a happy smile.

He holds out his hand to the blonde girl, to be polite, she shakes it and a sizzling sound is heard. Angelina looks down at her arm and notices a purple HGC mark on her wrist. She looks at it confused as it disappears before looking up at the man, her confusion very apparent, causing Caleb to assure her, "Don't worry, it's just a club stamp." Why would he give her a club stamp as she is leaving, shouldn't it have been given to her when she first arrived? And why did it disappear if it's just a club stamp?

Angelina awkwardly chuckles before saying, "Right. Well, I best be leaving." She walks around the man and heads up the stairs before making a beeline for the exit. She doesn't know for sure, but there is something about him that rubs her the wrong way. She definitely thinks he is super creepy. Caleb watches after her as she leaves, a smirk crosses his face. He turns around and heads to another part of the club, already forgetting that he has to tell the boys that they need to leave for their gig. Once Angelina walks out of the club room, she poofs away to the school.

Angelina is just about fifteen minutes late by the time she appears backstage at the dance. Once she sees Julie, pacing back and forth, she walks toward the girl and says, "I'm so sorry I'm late, Julsie." Julie turns toward Angelina and smiles, knowing that the girl is finally here. "It's just-" Angelina continues.

Julie raises her hand and cuts Angelina off, smiling, "It doesn't matter. All that matters is that you are here now." She looks around Angelina and her smile fades while she asks, "Where are the guys?"

Angelina reassures Julie, "Don't worry. They should be here soon. They know how important this is to you and they wouldn't let you down." Julie nods her head, hoping that they guys will get to the school soon.

AUTHOR'S NOTE:

Hey guys!! I really hope you enjoyed this chapter. The dance scene was really hard for me to write. I'm not good at describing dance moves and such, so I hope it's good. Please leave a comment to let me know what you think. I also love the face that Luke makes in the GIF.
