It didn't take long for the fateful day to arrive. Amor could only watch as Libertad left the island, braving the storm clouds to face the Leviathan.
For three days and nights the sky trembled. Thunders roared and even the earth itself shook as if in fear of the unseen battle.
And then... Silence.
What had transpired inside the dark clouds? Only the fairies who could fly would be able to tell. Unfortunately, Amor wasn't one of them.
He waited with bathed breath for the skies to clear, or for any kind of sign, anything at all that could give a hint of Libertad's victory.
However, he was met with nothing but the silent skies.
A melancholic rain fell from the dark clouds, as Amor's hopes vanished by the moment.
Despair and realization washed over him. He was left with no choice other than to leave his edge of the island. Despite him knowing he was not allowed to step foot at the main part of the island where the other villagers lived, he had to ask them. He had to know what happened.
He ran with all of his strength. Young Amor asked every villager he could find. Some merely flew away, others ignored him and a few even went as far as to shun him.
But he held onto them, begged, screamed! Until he finally received his answer.
"Libertad was devoured by the Leviathan."
His legs gave up. His vision trembled. And his head began to swirl as his thoughts went turve.
That Libertad? Favored by all, adored by the sky... She was devoured by the Leviathan...? Amor could not make sense of it, he could barely believe it.
How could the other villagers not go to her rescue then? He shouted at them with barely sensible words. And yet, this time he could not find a single one of them to answer him. They all simply avoided their heads and refused to answer.
...

...
Amor knew what he had to do. Even if he had no idea of how someone like him could possibly defeat the Leviathan. But that didn't matter.

He came closer to the edge of the island.
In front of him the storm clouds, their endless darkness extending through the horizon. Beneath him, the sky. Extending infinitely with no end in sight.
He needed his wings to blossom.
In case he failed, what awaited him was an endless fall. The worst fate for a fairy. The bottom of the sky.
In case he succeeded. He would fly straight into the storm clouds, ruled by the great tyrant, the Leviathan themselves.
Fear paralyzed his legs. His breath felt short while his heart beat faster than ever.
And yet, all he needed to think about was Libertad's fate.
Remembering all of those times they held hands as she took him for a flight, he let himself go, into the will of the skies.
And he fell.
A cold wind cut through his skin, completely different from the gentle breeze that accompanied Libertad.
He fell and fell, however his wings didn't blossom. Was this his fate? To fall endlessly, regretting his solitary life? A life of shunning and isolation at the small edge of their lonely island?
Once again, he saw his thought travel back to Libertad.
His only friend. With wings that could carry her wherever she wanted. Adored by all of the villagers. Embraced by the sky itself.
Her happy figure, as she flew freely and dreamed of all the wonders the sky beyond reserved for her...
What does he feel while remembering these memories? He needed to rescue Libertad. But why?
Wings of envy!
He knew some fairies could only fly under dark wings. Such was the case for the Leviathan and their wings of control.
But Amor never knew, he wanted to admit it. And yet, fairy wings can only fly with emotion, they need a purpose.
Even if Amor came back to the island with such wings, he would continue to be shunned. To be hated and avoided.
And yet, there is something he needs to do.
Then them blossom. Let them take the shape they will!
Blossom wings of envy, and fly towards your pain.
A unique event for any fairy, Amor felt his wings finally blossom and take shape.
However, he didn't bother to look at them. He didn't want to. Dark wings were a taboo, the very same one broken by the Leviathan, his soon to be enemy.
âWings, oh wings that shape my heart⦠For so long have I waited for you, for so long have I hoped! Yet, you only come to me at the time of my greatest suffering! For so long have I been a simple observer! Pain and loneliness my only comfort! And my friend, the single fairy that could color this lonely island, was the one who made clear the emptiness of my colorless existence! Empty wings! Wings of envy, shout my pain! A promise left unkempt! For what you fulfill can never be shown to those we need to uphold to! Ah, painful dark wings! My wish to fly, so I could be accepted! Like Libertad to the islanders, to the sky! Yet now I fly alone! Shunned for being unable to fly! Now to be banished because of the wings that allow me! Lonelier than when I was without wings! I turn these terrible feelings and betray the one who stood by me! Tears, wash my sins! Allow me to fly only long enough to repent my shame! An impure heart, for pure reasons!â
Unceremoniously, he spread his wings and flew on his own for the first time. Unlike the times when he flew with Libertad, he was once again met with the cold winds, the same one that haunted him as he fell.
But that didn't matter. Nothing else mattered, as he flew into the dark clouds until he was completely swallowed by them.
