Two Months Later
I stood looking at the memoir of our past employees. Every time I looked at it, I remember what happened two months ago; the danger we were in and the people that we had lost. I remember how broken their families and loved ones were. Nothing can take away a pain like that.
I scanned each and every pictures and sentiments of the seven employees that were displayed on the table. It wasn't the first time I've looked at them, but the good thing was that, I didn't look at it and had a flashback of everything that I've went through anymore. It was getting more easier and I wasn't having terrifying nightmares as much. Mr. Ragland had arranged for all of us to get counselling and therapy. It really helped me a lot but I wasn't there yet.
After a few weeks of getting ourselves back together, Mr. Ragland had to get new employees. Of course, Mr. Ragland didn't want the memory of the old employees to fade away, so he set up a table with pictures of the seven employees. They did made a great addition to the team and they definitely will not be forgotten.
A lot more has happened within the last two months. Last week, Mr. Ragland had named the new chief advisor and it turns out that I got the position. I was so elated because this was what I had been waiting on for so long.
I was still looking at the pictures, when I felt someone walked up beside me. I turned to see that it was Patrice. She looked straight ahead as she looked at the pictures as well. "It's sad, what happened to them." She finally said, still looking at the pictures. I just nodded my head. "You know, I still think about what happened. I even have dreams about it."
"Yeah me too." I said honestly. We continued to stand there for a few more seconds, when Patrice turned to face me.
"For what it's worth, you deserve the promotion." She replied and I turned to face her, surprise at her comment. She continued. "I may not like you very much and I sometimes don't like your ideas, but you're good at what you do and you work hard. So, congratulations on your new position."
"Wow Patrice, that's the nicest thing you have ever said to me. Thank you." I replied.
She rolled her eyes, but I detected a hint of a smile. "Yeah well, don't get used to it."
I nodded my head, a smile on my face. "I won't."
"Good." With that she walked away. I watched her go and then shake my head.
I still don't understand that girl, but it's safe to say that she is not as bad as I once thought. I guess going through what we went through changed her a little. With a small laugh at my own thoughts, I turned away from the table and walked back to my office.
"Hey, what was that about?" Kaitlyn asked as she walked up beside me.
"That was Patrice's heart growing two size larger." I replied jokingly.
Suddenly Tamika appeared out of nowhere and walked on the other side of me. "Really? Who gave her a heart? The wizard?"
I shook my head and Kate and I laughed at Tamika's reference. Still laughing, they both went off in their own direction, while I continued towards my office.
When I was near my new office door, I saw Brian and Vincent standing at the door having a conversation.
I was glad to see Vincent back at work. He has been back to work two weeks now. He had spent a month and two weeks in the hospital and at home recovering. He had undergone two minor surgeries. His injuries were extensive; four broken ribs, broken ankle, head trauma and internal bleeding.
When he was in the hospital, the rest of the staff and I had went to visit him constantly. The support he got from friends, co-workers and family members, helped him recovered quickly. Thankfully, he was better now and I was happy for that. He was still limping a little on his left leg, but I knew in time, it would go away. Going through what Vincent went through didn't change him or deflate his spirits. In fact, he was back to his old self.
Vincent looked up and saw me first. He smiled. "There you are, Allison. I've been waiting for you."
I finally reached over to where they stood. "To what do I owe this pleasure?" I asked.
"I thought you had abandoned me." Vincent continued to tease.
"Me abandon you?" I asked, then pinched his chin playfully. "I would never dream of doing that." Brian chuckled beside him.
"Ahh, I knew I could count on you." He turned towards Brian. "Isn't that true Brian?"
"Oh yes, definitely." Brian agreed and then winked at me.
I rolled my eyes, but the smile never left my lips. "Anyway, I put the documents that you asked for on your desk." Vincent said.
"Thanks, Vince." I replied.
"You're welcome," he then turned to leave. "I'll see you guys later."
I waved and Brian nodded his head at him. When he left, Brian wrapped his arms around my waist and we went inside my office.
When we were inside, I turned around in his arms and smiled up at him. "So, what can I do for you?"
"I came by to see if you were still on for our date this evening." He replied.
"Of course. I can't wait."
He gave me his heart winning smile. "Good," he bends down and gave me a quick kiss on my lips. "See you later. I'll pick you up at seven."
"Okay, bye." I said, returning his smile. He kissed me on my forehead before he turned and left the office. I went over to my desk and sat down. A big smile still on my face.

Meanwhile back at Westgate Lake
"Okay guys," said the tour guide, spreading his hands towards the river. "This is the beautiful lake; the attraction that makes Westgate Lake so amazing."
The group of people that the tour guide was leading, began to take notes and snap pictures, nodding their heads at the beauty and serenity of the water.
"And remember to take notes and catalog everything that you see of interest." Continued the guide. They continued to walk along the water side before they stopped again to take more pictures.
"So, Professor Goodwill," one man in the group began, directing his question at the tour guide. "Is it true that there were some sort of cross-breed creature living here?"
The tour guide nodded his head. "Yeah, a hybrid; a half shark and a half alligator."
"So, how did it get like that?" The same man asked.
"Yeah and how did it get here?" Asked another.
"I don't know how it had gotten here, but it was experimented on by some crazy scientist who used to live here." Answered the tour guide.
"Woah." The first man exclaimed and chatter erupted from the entire group.
"That must have been creepy." A woman in the group said.
"I wouldn't want to see that." Another woman said, crossing her arms and shaking her head.
"So professor, what happened to it?" Asked the first woman.
"Well, two months ago the rescue team that came for the people who were stranded here, killed it." Answered the tour guide. "I can assure you; you have nothing to worry about. The sharkgator is dead and this lake is safe again."
As soon as the words left his lips, something came out of the water as quick as lightening and bit his head off. It happened so fast that none of the group of people was prepared for it. Blood started spraying everywhere from the wound where the man head once was.
It was the most horrific scene to watch. Everyone began to scream and panic as the body drop to the floor. The half shark-half alligator that everyone was now looking at, looked ready to attack again. It looked hungry, eager and ready to have its lunch!
