No one would treat him like a child and love him like that anymore. (1)

After finishing tidying up, Lin Yu He left the dressing room.

The engagement process was simpler than the wedding ceremony, and there were only three suits to change into today. There were many dressing rooms in the hotel, so there was no need to return to the dressing room to change.

The person Fang Mu Sen called to stay with Lin Yu He was a tall, young man. He briefly introduced the hotel’s interior area to Lin Yu He.

“There are in total seven halls, several of which are entertaining guests. Mr. Lu is currently in the main hall, and your family is in the front hall. At eleven o’clock you have to go to the main hall. Now there is still some time before eleven o’clock. Where would Mr. Lin like to go?”

Lin Yu He hesitated and asked, “Should I go to the hall to meet the guests now?”

The tall man said, “No, you can also go to the lounge and stay there for a while. There is a lounge not far from here.”

Lin Yu He thought about it and said, “Then I’ll go to the lounge, sorry to trouble you.”

The tall man bowed slightly. “There’s no trouble. Mr. Lin, this way, please.”

The lounge was indeed not far away from where they were, and it didn’t take long to walk there.

The tall man led Lin Yu He inside, briefly explained to him the various amenities there, and then retreated to the door. “Have a good rest, Mr. Lin. I’ll come back to get you when it’s almost eleven o’clock. I’ll be right outside the door. If there’s anything, you could immediately call for me.”

Lin Yu He nodded. “Thank you.”

After the door was closed, he looked around the room. The environment in the lounge was comfortable and well furnished. Although it was called a lounge, it seemed similar to the presidential suite, with four or five rooms here.

Lin Yu He had just poured himself a glass of water when there was a knock on the door.

“Please come in.”

The person who knocked on the door was the tall man at the door.

“Sorry Mr. Lin, we received word that we have to leave for a while. The replacement person will come as soon as possible. Is it okay for you to stay in the lounge alone for a while?”

Lin Yu He said, “It’s okay, you guys could go to work, I’ll just rest here."

The tall man left some numbers for him, reminding him to give orders at any time, and then left in a hurry.

Lin Yu He closed the door and sat down on the soft sofa with his glass of water.

He took a sip of warm water and was slightly dazed.

The lounge was quiet and comforting, without the crowd and the forced socialization.

It was not quite what he had thought, or what his stepmother had said.

With guests in all seven halls, Lin Yu He could easily imagine the size of this engagement party. When the tall man asked him where he would like to go, Lin Yu He’s first thought was that he didn’t want to go to any of the halls. It was not that he had never been on this kind of occasion. Lin Yu He’s father was in the pharmaceutical business and had always had many social engagements, and after his remarriage to Wu Xin, he had come into contact with even more people. From there, Lin Yu He had heard and learned a lot.

However, Lin Yu He had never been very fond of these social functions. He grew up with a bad trachea, coughed when he smelled smoke, and even now when he’s all grown up, the smell of alcohol and tobacco still makes him uncomfortable. The Wu family is much richer than Lin’s, and those who know Lin Yu He is a stepson would not come too close to him to avoid upsetting the Wu’s.

Therefore, Lin Yu He had rarely attended such occasions, which was why he had not been exposed to the knowledge of formal wear. Even his tie was done with the help of Mr. Lu.

Before coming to the engagement party, Lin Yu He had done a lot of mental preparation for himself, and Wu Xin had repeatedly emphasized them, which inevitably increased his anxiety.

It was only now, sitting in this quiet lounge, that Lin Yu He's resistance to this engagement party gradually subsided a bit.

It didn't seem that bad.

At first, Shen Hui Xi was worried that he would not be able to adapt to this kind of social occasion and said he would come to the hotel to accompany him. However, now it seems to be okay. Perhaps Mr. Lu was also afraid that he would make some mistakes when socializing with others, so he simply agreed to let him rest alone.

Shen Hui Xi had arrived. Lin Yu He had just sent a ‘Where are you’ to him when he received a message from his father.

[Dad: Still in the dressing room?

Lin Yu He paused for a moment and replied with a ‘Yes’.

It didn’t take long for the phone call to come through.

It was a video call. When the call was answered, the screen immediately showed a lively scene in the hall, with guests in fancy clothes everywhere, clinking glasses, and mingling.

The camera showed not only his father but also Wu Xin and her daughter, Wu Xiao Han.

Unlike Lin Yu He, who was not much of a socialite, Wu Xiao Han was quite familiar with such occasions. She had always been pampered by the Wu family and had been taken to all kinds of parties since she was a child. Even though she was only fourteen, at such places, she fit in like a fish in water.

Wearing a beautiful snow-white puffy dress and a crown, Wu Xiao Han looked like a real little princess. She was seeking attention from Wu Xin, and Lin’s father was looking at her with a smile on his face, and raising his hand to gently stroke her hair.

What Lin Yu He saw at a glance was a warm and beautiful scene of a family in harmony.

His father was a little late in realizing that the video call was already connected, and hurried to greet him. “Xiao He! Can you hear me?”

Lin Yu He spoke calmly. “Dad, I can hear you.”

Wu Xiao Han on the other side of the screen also saw the video call connected, but she acted as if she didn’t see Lin Yu He and turned her head to continue talking to Wu Xin.

On the contrary, Wu Xin looked at Lin Yu He and saw that he was properly dressed. She was pretty much satisfied, and then said in her usual tone, “Behave properly, there are so many guests here.”

Lin’s father said good-naturedly, “It’s okay, Xiao He knows how to behave. He already knows all this. There is no need to remind him again.”

Only then did Wu Xin stop talking.

His father moved the camera closer and occupied the screen himself, then asked, “Xiao He, how are you?”

Lin Yu He replied, “I’m in the lounge. I will go to the main hall later."

Lin's father said, "It's fine, it's fine. Just do what you should, dad just wants to see you."

He let out a low sigh, "It's a hard day for you."

“It’s okay, dad, no need to say that,” replied Lin Yu He.

It seems that Wu Xin also said something to Lin's father, and he stopped talking about it. He now only looked at Lin Yu He carefully and complimented him, "You look really well."

He lamented, "Aiya, our Xiao He has become an adult in the blink of an eye."

Lin Yu He smiled and said nothing.
