âSo how should we divide the responsibilities for taking care of the parents?â Yun Lei put forth.
Meng Yunhan glanced at them all, âThe responsibility of supervision falls on the daughter whoâs already married off. As for elderly care, however much my elder and second brothers provide, Iâll match. If I donât have any extra food, Iâll simply convert that to money and give it to our mother. Gifts for festivals and such should be calculated separately.â
âYou were the one who said that youâd take care of our parents. Why should we do it now?â Zhang Cuihua detached herself from Yun Hai, clearly unwilling to bear the responsibility.
Yun Men snorted coldly, âSister-in-law, donât make me expose your faults.â
Zhang Cuihua didnât believe she had anything to hide, âI have no faults.â
Yun Men looked straight at her elder brother, âBig Brother, I donât know if youâre aware or not, but I often see sister-in-law carrying big and small packages back to her maiden home pretty frequently. Normally, I wouldnât mention it. After all, she did give birth to two sons for us, the Yun Family. But she seems to care very little for us, and much more for her own.â
Barely able to contain his anger, Yun Hai slapped Zhang Cuihua. Zhao Fang, who was sitting close by, jumped up in shock. It was the first time she had seen Yun Hai so vicious.@@novelbin@@
âZhang Cuihua, how many times have I told you not to take things from our house to your maiden home? It seems you didnât listen.â
The mother of the Yun family also began scolding Zhang Cuihua, âI warned you from the beginning about her family. You didnât listen and now see the result. No matter how big the family, ones who are too focused on their maiden home will bring it to ruin.â
Li Yong and Zhang Jiang felt incredibly awkward upon hearing these words.
Meng Yunhan watched the scene unfold as if it was a dramatic performance.
âBig Brother, we gathered here today to discuss the matter of elderly care. Today, we should agree on some rules. I donât care if sister-in-law is partial to her maiden home. Iâll be leaving for Kyoto in a few days and donât know when I will be back next. If you want to teach sister-in-law a lesson, do it privately. But remember, some people just canât be changed,â she stated.
Her words embarrassed Yun Hai to the point that he wished he could disappear.
Zhang Cuihua was infuriated.
âMeng Yunhan, just because you were accepted into a university doesnât make you superior,â she retorted.
Meng Yunhan countered coldly, âIf you could get into a university, Iâd be impressed.â
Yun Men marveled at Meng Yunhan, admiring her greatly. Yun Shuang had never seen this side of her younger sibling before.
She was relieved to see her younger sister being so assertive and sharp. She felt confident that Yunhan could hold her own in college.
Yun Shuang knew that Zhang Cuihua often took things back to her maiden home as she lived next door to them. Gossip travels fast when people live close to each other.
âMy son will get into a university,â she boasted.
âSister-in-law, youâll need to step up your efforts. Otherwise, you might not be able to afford college fees when your nephews get in,â Yunhan warned.
Little did Yunhan know, but she had touched upon a serious future issue without even realizing it.
Yun Men whispered, âBut isnât college free?â
Yun Han seriously answered, âRight now it is because theyâve just resumed college entrance exams. In a few years, youâll have to pay your own way.â She just refrained from pointing out the obvious.
Everyone present, excluding Zhang Cuihua, understood this.
âFrom now on we need to start saving money for our childrenâs college fees,â remarked Li Yong cheerfully.
âLetâs get back to discussing the issue of elderly care,â the father of the Yun family interjected. He knew that his daughter-in-law was subtly pointing out a concern. If they did not consider this now, they might face grave problems later on.
