I managed to finally calm Lucca down, was good necessary? Yes. Did it work? 100% Currently he's sitting in front of the TV watching some show about safety with little robots. "Hey Lucca, how do you feel kid?" He doesn't answer, he just sits there. Memorized by the colors. I go sit next to him, it's pretty warm out. "Hey buddy, it's really nice outside! Do you wanna go explore the yard? I don't think your daddies have let you out there yet." He looks over at me with his adorable doe eyes. "Go ou'side?" I nod. "Mhm! Do you want to go out and explore? Go look at the koi pond and see the fishies?" That got him. "Fishies?!" "Yeah kid, fish. Biiiiig fish! Colorful too." I stood up, picking him up with me. We go and I put my shoes on, I try to get him into shoes. Try. "No! No shoes!" I look at him. "Bud, we can't go outside if we don't wear our shoes." He looks dead at me. "Why?" I smile, I can be a great teacher. "Because we could step on something icky and get hurt." I say, thinking I'm doing amazing at explaining. "Why?" I pause. "You don't actually care, do you?" He giggles. "Why!" I pull him down to the ground and wrestle him into the shoes before rushing him to stand up and we go to the doors to get outside. "Why? Why why why!" He kept repeating and giggling. "Ready to go see the fishies?" He paused, presumably thinking about his answer. "Yes! Fishies!" We calmly walk outside, I do my best to keep him walking calmly beside me. We eventually reach the pond and sit at the edge. "Look Lucca! Fishy!" I point to a big red and black Koi. "Fishy!" He points at it. "Yeah! Big fishy!"Â Â After a while he starts getting bored. "Rose." I noticed his voice was a bit different. "Yeah Lucca?" A completely NOT little sounding voice speaks back. "Can we go inside? The fish are starting to get boring..." I nod. "Yeah, let's go." We get up and walk back inside. "You feeling alright?" He nods. "Yeah, just...not little...if that makes sense." I nod. "Hungry?" He shakes his head no. "I think I'm just gonna-" he looks towards Kayden when he hears the good doctor playing. "Kayden, can I come watch with you?" Kayden nodded.
Kayden
I smile happily as the kid asks to come watch. "Yeah, get over here." I pat the spot next to me. He walked over and sat down. We watch for about an hour before I feel a head on my shoulder. I look over to Rose. "He fell asleep." She just shrugs. "Leave him there. Kid's probably still feeling the effects of the jet lag." I nod, I remember when me and Rose first got here to work with the bosses after going to college, it took us a week to adjust to the time zone change. I look down at his sleeping figure. He's so little, so small, fragile...tiny. Me and Rose talk for a while... but then receive a call. Our bosses. Alex was first to speak. "Hey guys, how's our sweet boy doing? Is he alright? Is he still giving you troubles?" Rose and I just look at each other and roll our eyes, of course they're worried about their little prince. "He's fine, he's asleep on my shoulder right now." I reply, glancing at the little boy. I hear Rose add something. "He fell out of little space after we came in from outside, I took him to look at the Koi and we came back in. He watched some TV with Kayden and fell asleep." I nod, even if they can't see. Then I hear Ethan. "But he's okay? Did you eventually get him to stop cry-" Rose cut him off. "We gave him a bottle and he calmed down. He misses his daddies though." "Well," Alex's voice rang though the phone again. "we should be home in about two hours, the progress is moving faster than expected so far." I nod again, Rose smiles. Thank the gods, we wouldn't be able to put him to bed without his daddies. "Well, we will see you guys soon." I say, Alex and Ethan both say their goodbyes before hanging up. "What's their kill count at? I can't remember if they got anyone while out-" I look down to Lucca. "Out finding a little and in Alex's case, being a teacher." Rose shakes her head. "Alex was spying on the principal, he was dealing drugs and recruiting the graduating seniors to run a gang. But as far as I know, 243 all together." We watch another two episodes of the good doctor before I get a question in my head and HAVE to ask. "Think they'll teach him how to kill?" Rose looks at me and busts out laughing. "That is their BABY! You think they'll let him go out and join the work? They haven't even told him he's now technically part of the Mafia!" Just then we hear a tiny gasp. We look down to see a horrified Lucca. "I'm...what?" He asks shakily. "Hey buddy, nothing, just go back to sleep." I reach to mess with his hair but he jumps up and bolts upstairs. Shit. We go rushing after him, but eventually that dreaded sound of the front door opening is heard by me and Rose. We walk downstairs, looking at our two bosses.
"He knows. He knows he's affiliated with the Mafia and he's scared."
