Everything had gone wrong.
She didnât want Barlow to die.
All she wanted was to scare him.
She just wanted to torment him.
As Karina watched her face, realization dawned upon her.
âKennedi, who are you talking to? Did something happen to Barlow and Rosalynn?â
Kennedi just wordlessly stared at the sky.
Her silence only made Karina more anxious.
She grabbed Kennedi by the shoulders and shook her, shouting, âKennedi, tell me what happened to them!â
âThere was an earthquake.
The building they were in fell down.
Theyâre buried inside,â Kennedi murmured.
Karinaâs face froze.
She stared at Kennedi with disbelieving eyes.
âWhat? No.
Thatâs not possible.
Youâre lying, arenât you? Thatâs a lie!
Theyâll be alright!â
She kept shaking Kennedi as she screamed hysterically.
The force of her grip sent pain through Kennediâs arm.
She shook Karina off, snapping back, âStop shouting! If Barlowâs dead, so be it.
He deserved it anyway! Have you forgotten what kind of person that bastard is? Youâre nothing but a plaything to him!â
There was a sharp gasp before a loud slap fell on Kennediâs cheek.
Karinaâs palm was red from the force of the blow.
âI donât care if he only sees me as a plaything! I swear, Kennedi, if anything happens to either of them, Iâll make you pay for it!â

âMiss.
â
When Kennediâs bodyguard saw her being slapped, his expression turned cold as he moved swiftly to grab Karina, ready to teach her a lesson.
Suddenly, a Jeep raced towards them, screeching to a halt beside Karina.
A man stepped out of the driverâs seat.
His face was stern, and his gaze razor-sharp.
âHold on! Let her go!â
The black-clad bodyguard eyed him warily.
âWho are you?â
