âIs it painful?â Lyndon asked softly.
Sheldon first nodded, then hesitated and shook his head.
Seeing Sheldonâs furrowed brows, Lyndon eased his touch with the ointment and asked, âWhat do your actions mean?â
âIt stings a bit, but Iâm tough.
I can take it,â Sheldon declared with the earnestness of a child.
Lyndonâs smile widened and he said, âThatâs the spirit.
Youâre incredibly brave.
â
Puffing up with pride, Sheldon straightened himself.
Looking at the handsome manâs face nearby, Sheldon blinked and asked softly, âCan I call you dad all the time?â
âSure thing,â Lyndon replied, nodding briefly.
Sheldonâs face lit up with happiness, but then he looked down, suddenly remembering something.
âBut Tilda might not be on board,â he said quietly.
After putting on the ointment, Lyndon saw Sheldon looking listless and laughed.
âDonât worry, convincing girls isnât hard.
Weâll get her to agree together.
â
Sheldonâs eyes lit up with hope again.
âOkay!â
Sheldon really admired Lyndon for standing up to the bully for him.
He was now completely in awe of Lyndon.
He believed if Lyndon thought they could persuade Tilda, then they surely would!
Lyndon gave him a smile and got up.
But Sheldon quickly caught Lyndonâs hand, looking up at him eagerly.
âDad, are you leaving now?â
Lyndon was just heading to wash his hands, but Sheldonâs clingy gesture melted his heart.
âDo you want me to stay?â
âYes!â Sheldon nodded eagerly.
Smiling gently, Lyndon said, âFine, Iâll stay.
