âHello?â Rosalynn casually greeted as she answered the call.
âIs your meeting for the wedding dress done?â Brian asked warmly.
His inquiry brought a smile to Rosalynnâs face.
âYup.
â
âDid Kaliyah and her assistant leave already?â Brian asked.
Rosalynn glanced at Maggie as she responded, âKaliyah left, but her assistant is still here.
â
Brian paused.
âStill discussing about the design?â
Rosalynn raised her eyebrows impishly.
âUh-huh.
â
Little did Brian know Kaliyahâs assistant was Maggie.
âHoney, you donât have to spend so much time and energy picking a design.
Iâm sure youâll look stunning in everything,â Brian said, unhinged in his compliments.
Rosalynn couldnât help but chuckle.
âOkay, okay.
No need to flatter me.
I got to go now.
â
âItâs the truth, though,â Brian noted, grinning.
âAlright.
Iâll hang up now.
Call me if you need anything.
â
âOkay.
Bye,â Rosalynn said curtly, putting down the phone, âWas that your husband?â Maggie inquired.
Rosalynn nodded.
Then, realizing something, she said, âDidnât Brian contact Kaliyah through Sanfordâs connections? Do they know youâre her assistant?â
Maggie shook her head.
âI donât think so.
â
When she moved abroad, Maggie took another name and mentioned nothing about her past to the new people in her life.
Learning about that Karina posited, âThat makes sense.
I donât think Sanford would do nothing if he knew you were Kaliyahâs assistant.
Had he known, he would chase after you across borders in a heartbeat.
After all, you didnât have proper closure.
â
Maggie fell silent, giving Rosalynnâs words some thought.
Would Sanford really chase after her had he known where she was?
Lowering her eyes, Maggie shook the question off her head.
It was useless to ponder about that matter now.
Rosalynn pressed her lips together, choosing not to chime in.
She saw how upset Sanford had been when Maggie left without a word.
It was hard to tell if he would chase after Maggie if he learned about her whereabouts.
He might be too hurt or reluctant to take action.
âAnyway, Iâm starving.
Since Maggie is here, letâs take her out for a meal,â Karina suggested, rubbing her stomach.
âSounds good,â Rosalynn readily agreed.
