âSo, youâve moved into wedding dress design?â
âThatâs right.
â Maggieâs laughter was light and warm.
Seeing the transformation in Maggie, Brian wondered if he should mention it to his friend.
âCarlow, are we good to go?â
Not far off, Hyatt was walking over.
Carlow looked over at Karina, as if asking for her go-ahead.
âShould we head out? Our driverâs here.
â
Karina glanced at Hyatt, momentarily caught off guard.
âIs he the one driving us?â
Hyatt cleared his throat, slightly embarrassed.
âYeah, Iâm heading the same way, so it fits.
â
He couldnât help but think this was just the kind of scheme Barlow would pull, dragging him into it as well.
After a short pause, Karina agreed, âRosalynn, Iâll leave with them now.
â
Rosalynn gave Carlow a lingering look, then said, âDrive safely.
â
âOkay.
Iâll head out first,â Karina said, bidding farewell to the rest.
Barlow shared a glance with Brian, gave a slight nod, and began to walk away.
Brianâs eyes followed him, noting the limp in his walk, his expression turning thoughtful.
âHoney, who is that guy?â Brian asked.
âThatâs Haleigh and Karinaâs new neighbor.
Does he remind you of Barlow?â Rosalynn asked.
Brian just made a thoughtful sound in response.
It wasnât only the looks.
There was something in the manâs presence that felt similar to Barlowâs.
âHeâs Haleighâs new neighbor, then?â
âYep.
â
âDo you think we need to check him out?â Brian suddenly asked.
Rosalynn laughed.
âWhy look into someone without any reason?â
âWhat if he has ulterior motives toward Haleigh and Karina?â Brian replied, remembering his promise to look after them after Barlowâs death.
âLetâs not make assumptions.
Weâll watch and wait,â Rosalynn suggested, not overly concerned.
