Brian was just resting with his eyes closed and letting his mind unwind.
When he breathed in the familiar, soothing scent of Rosalynn, he gently pulled her close.
Holding her tight, he nestled his face into her soft hair, finding comfort with his eyes still shut.
Noticing how tired he was, Rosalynn softly asked, âDo you want to lie down in the bedroom for a bit?â
âWhat about you?â Brianâs voice was a low, gravelly whisper.
âWill you join me?â
âYou should rest alone.
I need to take the food to the hospital,â she said gently.
Brian opened his eyes and looked at her.
âI can go with you,â he insisted.
Rosalynn gave him a small, reassuring smile.
âYou need to rest.
I can manage on my own,â Rosalynn said quietly.
Before Brian could respond, her phone on the table buzzed with a message.
She reached for it and saw it was from Lyndon.
âAre you resting now? Do you need me to bring lunch?â the message read.
âNo, thanks.
Brian is with me,â she replied quickly.
âOkay,â Lyndon texted back.
Brianâs eyes narrowed as he noticed the messages.
He straightened up and asked, âDoes Lyndon know youâre in Wragos?â
Rosalynn set her phone back down and nodded.
âYes, he brought me here last night.
â
Brianâs face tightened with worry.
âSo, he stayed with you at the hospital all night?â
A touch of jealousy colored his voice.
Rosalynn saw the worry lines on his forehead.
She gently brushed her fingers over them and smiled.
âYes, he did.
Why the frown? Didnât you stay with Betsy at the hospital last night? I didnât make a fuss about it.
â 2
Brianâs annoyance was clear.
âWhen did I ever stay the whole night with Betsy? I was swamped with work all night.
â
Rosalynn noticed his unhappy expression and decided to ease up.
She said softly, âYouâve been working too hard, honey.
â
Although Brian was still a bit jealous, her gentle tone made him relax a little.
He let out a quiet sigh.
He then playfully pinched her cheek and said, âYour husband is jealous.
What do you think you should do about it?â
Lyndonâs name alone had spoiled Brianâs mood.
