Karina sighed exasperatingly.
âIâm being serious here.
Donât try to play the matchmaker, okay?â
âIâm serious too.
Whatâs wrong with me play the matchmaker?â
Haleigh replied earnestly.
Karina stamped her feet in frustration.
âI knew it.
Carlow has come here often, hasnât he? Youâre totally smitten by him!â
Haleigh didnât deny it.
âAs a matter of fact, I am.
Arenât you? Heâs very charming, after all.
â
âWhat? Iâ¦â Bowled over, Karina struggled to reply.
Haleighâs words had put her in a tight spot.
If she said Carlow wasnât charming, it was not true considering he had won Haleighâs favor.
But if she said that he was charming, Haleigh would think she liked him.
âWhy are doing this to me, Haleigh? Youâre not lik
e this before,â
Karina whined, holding Haleighâs arm and pouting like a child.
While the two bantered, the door swung open.
Carlow walked in with a big smile and two bags of sanitary pads in his hands.
Karina widened her eyes in shock.
Carlow had purchased an excessive amount of sanitary pads!
They appeared to be more than enough for her to use for a year!
Karina silently grumbled to herself, setting aside her playful side and returning to her usual composed self.
She reached out to take the two bags, then pulled out her phone to send a thousand dollars to Carlow.
âThank you.
You better take this.
I donât like owing anyone.
â
With that, she turned and headed into the bathroom.
Carlow let out a soft chuckle.
âWhat a proud girl.
â
Haleigh commented, âKarina said she would keep an eye on you, Carlow.
You should try to leave a good impression.
â
Did that mean Karina agreed to be his girlfriend?
Carlow raised an eyebrow, a subtle smile playing on his lips.
That seemed like a bit of a stretch.
