Barlow took it and rinsed his mouth.
After he was done, Karina said, âGo to bed.
â
Barlow looked at her and inquired, âYouâre not sending me away?â
âI wonât stop you if you decide to leave,â Karina replied casually.
Barlowâs eyebrows lifted.
âAre you suggesting we share the room tonight?â
Karina gave him a look and said, âCarlow, Iâm warning you, play it straight with no tricks.
Get to bed now!â
Her tone was stern, yet there was a s
oftness about her.
A subtle smile appeared in Barlowâs eyes.
âIf I take the bed, what about you?â
âIâll sleep on the sofa,â Karina said.
âYouâre a woman.
How could I let you sleep on the sofa?â Barlowâs smile vanished.
âThen you take the sofa,â Karina snorted.
âSure.
â
Karina was at a loss for words.
She had half-expected him to joke that they could just share the bed.
She was surprised by his quick decision.
Watching him grab a pillow and prepare to settle down on the sofa, warmth spread through Karinaâs heart.
âStop, go to the bed now.
â
The pillow was yanked from Barlowâs hands.
He protested, âNo way.
As a man, I shouldnât take the bed.
â
Karina looked at him and responded, âTo me, youâre just a patient.
Hurry up, or youâre out!â
She was firm.
A gentle light twinkled in Barlowâs eyes.
Karinaâs caring nature touched him.
âAlright, Iâll listen to my girlfriend.
â
Hearing Carlow call her his girlfriend again, Karina paused in tidying up the sofa.
Without responding, she lay down and pulled her coat over herself.
