Maggie nodded affirmatively.
âThereâs one bottle of medicine that should be taken before meals.
Iâve already administered it to Sanford.
The rest will be taken after breakfast.â
Shari acknowledged with a nod and refrained from further comment.
Meanwhile, Maggie began to serve Sanford his breakfast, while Rosalynn and Brian settled themselves on the sofa.
Shari handed them each a glass of water.
Brianâs phone chimed with a message.
It was from Edwin.
The previous night, Brian had tasked Edwin with checking on the recent status and whereabouts of Jamirâs siblings, and it seemed Edwin had found the information.
Brian passed his phone to Rosalynn.
âWould you like to join me in visiting the Wagnersâ house later?â
Rosalynn glanced at the message and nodded her agreement.
Sanford, lying in the hospital bed, overheard their conversation.
âHuh? You are visiting the Wagnersâ house? Why?â
Rosalynn felt a heaviness in her chest as she thought of Jamir.
She replied, a somber tone in her voice, âJamir died and asked me to take care of his family before he passed.â
Sanford looked taken aback for a moment, then sighed deeply.
âJamir saved us.
But why didnât he choose the right path, instead of following Leon?â
Rosalynn paused, collecting her thoughts before responding, âHe had a sick sister at home and required money.
I assume he took those risky jobs because they offered prompt payment.â
Sanford nodded, his expression softening with understanding.
âI see.
Although his way of making a living isnât commendable, he indeed was a good brother.â
Rosalynn nodded in deep agreement, her expression solemn.
Listening to their conversation, Shari subtly lowered her eyes.
After Sanford finished his breakfast, Rosalynn began preparing for his acupuncture treatment.
âYou can go out.
Iâll assist Rosalynn,â Brian said to Maggie, then took a seat by the bedside and began to help Sanford undress.
Rosalynn raised an eyebrow, slightly amused by Brianâsâ unexpected involvement, but she didnât object.
She signaled for Maggie and Shari to leave first.
The two exchanged a glance and quietly exited the ward.
While lying on the bed, Sanford couldnât resist teasing, âThe CEO of Hughes Group serving me? Iâm quite flattered.â
Brian shot Sanford a sideways look.
âYou are flattered, huh?â
Sanford chuckled.
âWell, Brian, from here on out, you will comply with all my requests and wonât disobey me, correct?â
âWould you really like me to do that?â Brian asked.
Sanfordâs eyebrows arched with mischief.
âCome on, man, itâs a rare chance.
Iâd love to see what happens if I did.â
