Maggie walked them to the door.
âRosalynn,â she said.
Rosalynn gave her a concerned glance.
âWhatâs going on?â
Maggie hesitated, then shook her head.
âItâs nothing.
Just be careful on your way home.â
âAlright.
Remember to call me if you need anything, okay?â Rosalynn smiled.
Maggie nodded, waved goodbye, and slipped back into the ward.
Inside, Shari was busy straightening up the table, putting things in order Maggie glanced at Shari, then quickly looked down.
She had considered bringing up Shariâs conversation with her to Rosalynn but chose not to.
Given Rosalynnâs pregnancy, she didnât wish to add any extra stress to her.
Shariâs comment had seemed innocent, but Maggie knew it was meant to cause trouble.
She decided to wait and see what Shariâs next move would be.
âMr.
Robles, I have something to take care of this morning.
Could I have half the day off?â Shari asked, keeping her tone polite.
Sanford gave her a nod.
âThatâs fine.â
âThank you, Mr.
Robles.â
She gave a quick nod to Maggie before heading out the door in a hurry.
Maggie watched her go, her mind clearly turning over something as she stared at Shariâs retreating figure.
âWhatâs going through your mind?â Sanford asked, noticing Maggieâs absent look.
Maggie shook herself out of her daze, sat down by the bed, and straightened Sanfordâs quilt.
âDid Shari look after you well while you were in Boblyae?â
Sanford raised an eyebrow, puzzled.
âWhat do you mean by that?â
Maggie shot him a curious look.
âDid she assist you with freshening up in the Boblyae hospital?â
Sanford nodded.
âYes.â
âShe assisted with cleansing your lower body as well?â Maggie glanced at his legs and asked, almost in a rush.
Sanfordâs eyes gleamed with a playful spark.
âAre you jealous?â
Maggieâs cheeks reddened in regret.
She jumped to her feet.
âForget it.â
