Chapter 1 Dead On the rooftop of the Woods Building.
The scent of blood pervaded the atmosphere.
Evelyn Taylor, whoâs hand was cruelly bound to the railing, contorted and deformed . Her body hung outside the skyscraper, swaying precariously in the strong wind, teetering on the edge.
Her face was covered in injuries and blood, it was so disfigured that no trace of the original skin could be discerned.
Mia Taylor, the mastermind behind all this, raised an eyebrow, looking down on Evelyn with a scornful and contemptuous expression.
âEvelyn, look at the man around me, the designer brands on my body, the diamond watch on my wrist, and, oh, my beautiful face â they are all funded by your money.â
Mia laughed wildly, âRest assured, Iâm a person who repays kindness. After you die, Iâll make sure to find a smelly ditch as your burial ground. Hahahaâ¦â
Evelyn, opening her eyes sealed by dried blood, stared fiercely at William Martinez,-the man she had once loved, the man who had deceived her from the beginning to the end.
He stood there, coldly watching her hanging outside the building, watching her to die.
âWhy?â Evelynâs voice sounded somewhat fragile, but for some reason, it sent chills down his spine.
William visibly trembled, remained silent â¦
Mia sneered, snuggled into Williamâs embrace, âWhy? Haha, so stupid question. You donât know why?
Itâs all for me. Otherwise, why would he endure the nausea to stay by your side for so long?â
âWilliam, say something.â Mia pinched Williamâs waist as she spoke.
William hurriedly pulled Mia into his arms.
âI donât even want to waste my time on such a bi*tch. If it werenât for using her to grab the crippleâs property, I wouldnât even want to look at her. Darling, everything I do is for you.â
With a disdainful look, he even spat towards Evelyn.
Evelynâs heart felt like it had been stabbed ruthlessly. A dull pain spread across her chest, and her expression gradually twisted. In her dilapidated throat, a beast-like roar erupted.
âYou⦠You both will have a miserable end, Mia and William. I curse you. Even if I become a ghost, I will never let you off.â
Saying this, Evelyn gritted her teeth, lifting her other hand with great difficulty to untie the ropes tied her hand from the railing. She felt her broken hand slide out of the ropes. She imagined herself about to fall from a great height, anticipating the imminent release and liberation.
But her body didnât plummet as expected. Instead, a warm hand tightly held hers.
Itâs Henry, her husband, the man they referred to as the cripple. He just arrived, held her tightly.
âEvelyn, donât give up, pleaseâ¦.â
Evelynâs consciousness was hazy. She exerted all her strength to open her eyes and only saw Henry kneeling at the edge of the rooftop. William, wearing a sinister expression, ruthlessly kicking Henryâs spine. Blood trickled from the corner of his mouth, and his body trembled incessantly.
âNo, Henry!â
Warm blood with tears, who ever konws, Evelyn just felt a gentle heat on her face.
She recalled the first time they met, their marrige, their heated arguments, recalling this manâs tolerance and forbearance, his compromise and disappointment towards her. She remembered the compromises and disappointments. She had hurt him, harmed him for another scoundrel. But he, even now, still wants to save her.
The painful realization settled in her heart, a bitter taste lingering on her lips. Now she only knew that she couldnât owe this man any longer.
âHenry, let go. If thereâs a next life, Iâll make it up to you.â
Evelyn used all her strength to forcefully push away Henryâs hand, and her body rapidly descended.
âNo, Evelyn â The air was filled with Henryâs heart-wrenching screams.
Everything has come to an end, the happy and the sad. But, she is really unwilling to accept it. She has not yet retaliated against that scoundrel and the b*itch.
Why was fate so unfair?
With a resounding crash, Evelynâs world was filled with pain.
