Chapter 49 Evelyn Was Done The one who could ruin The Xander family in just a few minutes was none other than The Wilson family.

As Isabella’s mother spoke this name in her heart, she shuddered with fear.

Henry’s gaze never left Evelyn. He lifted her and placed her on his lap, then wheeled his chair without answering Isabella’s mother as if she were nothing more than air.

“How is this possible?” Isabella questioned her mother while staring at the video. “You said everything was taken care of. What’s going on?”

Isabella’s mother tried to comfort her, seemingly recalling something, “We beg Mr. Wilson. As long as they don’t pursue it further, you’ll be fine.”

“Mr. Wilson, please, The Xander family is already in trouble. Isabella can’t afford any accidents.” Tears streamed down her face. “Miss Taylor only suffered a scratch on her arm; she’ll be fine with some rest.

Isabella is different. She still has a bright youth ahead. If she goes in jail, she loses her dignity, freedom, and pride.”

“Isabella, kneel down.” Isabella’s mother desperately tried to pull her daughter down.

But Isabella stubbornly tilted her head upward. Why should she kneel? Why should that woman be allowed to lie in the arms of such an outstanding man while she had to kneel?

Henry’s face was cold and aloof. He gently pinched Evelyn’s finger, evidently leaving the decision to her.

“If she had slashed my throat, according to your words I would have only lost my life, right?” Evelyn sneered. “Mrs. Xander, didn’t your teacher tell you that being a person means having the courage to take responsibility?”

“I… I…” Isabella’s mother was seen through by Evelyn, and her face instantly turned deathly pale.

“Mom, don’t plead with this wretched person. I would rather spend the rest of my life in prison.” Isabella pulled her mother up and then glared viciously at Evelyn.

“It’s not just me who likes Lucas. Don’t think that without me, he would be yours?”

Evelyn want to slap her.

She was done, completely done.

The moment she was taken into the car, Evelyn distinctly felt the air inside frozen.

Henry’s large hand landed on the girl’s slender shoulder. Just as he was about to turn her around, a tear fell onto the genuine leather seat. The heavy and scalding drop struck Henry’s heart.

Evelyn spoke softly, intermittently, with a hint of grievance. Although her expression was a bit unclear, when she unintentionally revealed the ring between her fingers, Henry’s heart suddenly tightened.

He still remembered the ring the girl had thrown away.
