A few days had passed, and Luna had been going to school and
occupied herself with being a normal teenage girl. Soccorah had been
her only good friend for the time being. It's not that other people didn't
want to be friends with her but in light of her change she just wanted
to play it safe. She didn't want to get close to anyone only to have
them start making fun of her again like what happened in the past.
Lucian the Gym teacher had been keeping a close eye on Luna but had
decided to keep his distance so as to not draw too much attention to
himself or for fear that she would get spooked and tell her parents. He
didnât want to lose her again now that he had finally found her. Now
with the full moon on its eve he was especially careful as his wolf
wanted out and he felt powerful. He had decided to chain himself up in
his basement and wait out the decent of the moon so as to not go into
the woods. He had been keeping an eye on Luna to see whether with
the advent of the moon she presented any other changes, but she had
seemed normal and Lucian thought that the spell that Lunaâs mother
had cast must have been a very powerful one to keep her abilities
suppressed for this long however, he was wrong.
Luna had been struggling. She'd had some bouts of rage but luckily it
had not happened at school. It did not serve her well at home as her
parents had thought her rebellious and were anything but forgiving
and had taken away what little freedom she had left. She had kept
blowing off Soccorahâs invites to her house but had finally decided to
be disobedient and go to her house tonight. She smiled as she thought
of it but she was also nervous like hell. She had never disobeyed her
parents. But she was 17 years old and was sick of being treated like a
child.
Soccorah had come to school herself today. Luca did not go to school
today as he was still indecisive as to whether he would go back home
to wait out the transformation or stay and have a run in the woods.
Soccorah would have some alone time to practice some spells that
she'd been dying to and now that the house would be empty it couldn't
be more perfect if he did leave however, she would know when she
gets home. The full moon does amplify her familyâs ability to practice
magic.
As she walked down the hall deep in thought she slammed into Luna
and the two of them both stunned apologized to each other and
headed to class. âSoccorah, have you been going over the notes that
I've been sending you?â Luna asked trying to make conversation. âYeah,
but I was kinda hoping that you would take me up on my invitation and
come over to my house sometime.â Soccorah answered. âIt's not as if
my family are serial killers or anything.â
Luna felt bad that her only friend had thought that she had not come
over to help her after she practically offered to help because she
thought that Luna was afraid. In fact, coward was not even in her
vocabulary. Luna was so saddened that she asked for permission to
come over that very night however Soccorah had made plans to have
the house all to herself so she rescheduled the invitation. âOh no. I'm so
so sorry but you can't come tonight because we have a family thing.â
She lied. Oh, how she wanted to have Luna over but with the moon
being full this was her chance to practice those spells and she couldn't
risk Luna finding out about their secret. âlet's reschedule maybe
sometime next week?â Soccorah told Luna. âOk then; catch you laterâ
she shouted as she made her way out the door.
She made her way to the empty Gym to try testing herself again as it
was empty and there was no one in sight. She grabbed hold of the rope
and began her ascent. It was as if she had been climbing her whole life.
It was so effortless. Luna could not understand when and how those
changes came around. She got to the top of the rope and held on with
her left hand and looked down at the Gym.
She heard the gym door open and as the noise startled her, she jumped
down the 15-foot rope landing on her hands and feet as if ready to
pounce. Lucian looked at Luna surprised at what just happened.
Actually, he was very impressed but could not show it. âWhat the hell?
Are you ok? How did you do that?" he blurted out all at once. He really
didnât want it to come out this way but clearly, she didn't know what
was happening to her and someone had to help her understand how
dangerous it would be if humans found out about us. He felt so sorry
that she had grown up with no one to teach her about her true self,
that she was still living in the dark, confused. The thought started to
anger Lucian so he left the Gym to calm himself in his office.
Luna, startled at what just happened grabbed her bag and ran out of
the Gym. She ran and ran until she found herself halfway up the
mountain in the wood behind the school. âEveryone is going to look at
me like a freak again. Oh my god. What have I done? I can't go home.
What if coach told someone? No one would believe him. Afterall this
was not normal. They would think that he was crazy.â She told herself
out loud.
Looking at her phone she realized that it was time to go home. Getting
on her parent's bad side was not in her plans tonight. She grabbed her
stuff and hurried home. She started to run and to her surprise she loved
it. She felt the wind on her cheeks and the coolness of it on her skin,
she felt it's strength as it took lifted her hair off her body as he ran. She
got home in under 5 minutes which was startling as she'd ran 10 miles.
When she got home, she found her parents seated at the table. âWhat's
wrong guys?â Luna said but stopped dead in her tracks as she looked at
the dark-haired, well-built man seated in her father's chair next to the
window. Her knees trembled and her eyes widened as she stared at her
gym teacher seated in her house.
