It had been almost 3 months since the incident occurred and Luna had
managed to avoid both luca and Soccorah. Her uncle was still obsessed
with tracking down the witch that killed his brother and sister-in-law.
Luna was mad about that, but she did not feel as badly about it as
Lucian did. She was a teenager now and was going through so many
more changes than the human teenager. She not only had to worry
about dating and boyfriends but also about training and keeping her
new world a secret.
She did miss her parents but started to understand a bit why Luca had
reacted the way that he did toward her. She started to think that maybe
she'd been too hard on them. She acted out of hurt. She thought of
Soccorah as a friend and her trying to stun her brought back all the old
memories of Haileyâs deception and treachery. It had wounded her so
much that she couldn't bring herself to look at them. In spite of her
secret feelings for Luca she refused to let him get near her.
She walked into the Lunchroom and sat at her usual spot in the corner.
She liked to sit and listen to the whispers of the persons at the school.
She had been making use of her newfound abilities and had actually
thought of her life without them as boring. She was very happy about
the person she had become. She now had a family and packmates who
looked to her for advice and approval. As the alpha pack had given
responsibilities to her uncle, she now had to assist with some of those.
She trained with the packâs females and had found them to be no
match for her. She was stronger, faster, smarter and her other abilities
had started to manifest.
She suddenly became alert when she smelled Soccorah. Within seconds
she entered the lunch room and saw Luna seated in the corner. There
was an empty table next to her so she grabbed her lunch and went to
seat on the table next to her. Soccorah didn't say a word to Luna. The
wo sat at different tables alone in the deafening silence that engulfed
them in spite of the noisy cafeteria. Lunch was over and So Luna got up
to leave. Just then Soccorah got up and stood in front of her.
âHey!â she said to Luna afraid that Luna was going to embarrass her yet
again. âYes? What do you want?â Luna replied. Soccorah was surprised
at how civil she was as the last time she had attempted to talk to her
she had been so bitter she hadn't even given her the time of day. âI
really wanted to talk to you to explain what happened that night. It has
been three months and You were my best friend. I really need to
explain and apologize.â She said. âWell then find me after school then. I
have a thing right now.â With that Luna flicked her beautiful white hair
over her shoulder and walked out of the lunch room.
Soccorah immediately called Luca and had him meet her under the Oak
tree after their class. The two waited there nervously for Luna and when
she finally arrived during the last class of the day which apparently was
her free period Soccorah called out to her and motioned for her to
come over. Luna came over looked at the two of them and lay down
her back pack and sat under the shade of the oak tree and waited as
she was very interested in hearing an explanation to the events of that
night.
âWell now you finally decide that you owe me an apology. I mean I
really want to understand why someone whom I thought to be my
friend, my only friend would try to hurt me and do it by dragging me to
your house to do it. I am listening but let me just tell you that the
person whom you tried to hurt that night is long gone and it would be
a mistake to attempt such tricks on me right now.â Luna warned.
Soccorah began. âEver since the first day that I saw you in class I knew
that you were different. Not the normal different but very different.
Then I started to notice little things like your strength, speed. Your hair
and eyes were something strange as your eyes change color every once
in a while. I'm not even sure that you realize. I knew that you were
different and I wanted so badly to ask you about it but you never gave
me a hint. I figured that I would invite you to our house to see if my
mom or Luca could pick up on your character or kind but when they
didnât my mom agreed that we would use a spell. I know now that we
were wrong and I am so sorry about the way that we went about
things. We I mean I should have asked you right away.
âHmmm, Luca? What was your place in this whole thing? I saw you go
into the Kitchen and you never came out but in your place was a huge
wolf who tried to attack me. Soccorah Your eyes were pink and I know
that you were not wearing contacts when you were seated at the table
next to me. What are you people?
âPlease, just be honest. I never tried to attack you. I was angry at
Soccorah for what they had done. You ran out before we could explain.
I was spelled. I drank a potion meant for you. The potion is harmless.
Soccorah and her mom would never hurt anyone unless I ask them too
and I did not. They acted recklessly and you were hurt in the process
and for this we are truly sorry.â
âWhat pack do you belong too?â she asked Luca with a smile. âHe
opened his eyes in bewilderment. âSo you know about us then. But
how? What are you?â Luna smiled back at him and stretched out her
hand toward him. He grabbed hold of her as he helped her up. âYou
have apologized and I accept your apology.â This is what you get for
now. Your secret is safe with me. âI'm just like you. Why do you think
that you couldn't catch me? And you never willâ she smiled warmly at
Luca as she let go of his hand. I'll see you around and by the way you
guys owe me dinner. With that she left them and made her way home.
