Luna left early the next morning to explore the new packs hotspots but
more to go shop for the dinner that they were invited at the end of the
week. She took her uncle's jeep and her new credit card and set off.
Luna couldn't help but think of Luca. She didnât even know whether he
liked her, hell she didnât even know whether he had a girlfriend. She
was way too proud to ask Soccorah about that. Yet she seemed to miss
him more than she missed Soccorah who was her best friend.
All she had to remember Luca by were some stolen intense glances, a
few stares and accidental touches.
She needed to shake it off. If she were to even attempt to get this
prince to fall for her then she would have to try to get luca out of her
head but it was so hard with him invading her dreams every time she
shut her eyes and whenever she drifted. She could see his beautiful
face, his eyes, his physique. âLuna gets a hold of yourself.â She shouted
at herself. âDamnâ She came up to a big mall so she parked in the lot
and made her way inside.
As Luna walked up to one of the stores, she realized that there were
some people staring at her. She was used to it by now with her white
hair and all. She had recently come to realize that people stared not
because she was strange but because she was so beautiful. She thought
to herself âLet's hope that beauty is enough to entice the Lycan prince.
It sure as hell wasn't enough to get me Luca.â She walked into the store
and immediately fell in love with a beautiful mermaid dress which stood
in the middle of the store. The dress was breathtaking. It was an ivory
plunging neck dress covered with rhinestones. She saw a perfect pair of
rhinestone 6-inch heels to match and asked to try it on. The store
attendant was happy to help and when Luna stepped out the attendant
couldn't believe her eyes. She looked like a goddess even without
accessories. âHow do I look? Do you think this is ok for a dinner? I was
told that I should dress formal like a ball so I thoughtâ Before she could
finish the young attendant replied âPerfectâ with a shriek of approval. âI
can tell you where to get the perfect accessories to match. You must be
from the new beta house. Everyone is talking about you. The Lycan
prince has been summoned home to choose a mate a little earlier than
previously planned so they're throwing a dinner, more like a ball. All the
eligible girls are invited. Makes it easier since two packs are now one.â
She told Luna. âSo, I've been told. Will you be attending this ball?â âOh
no I've already found my mate we were married last full moon. But
since you have to attend you should look out for Nina. The Alphas
right hand's daughter well adopted daughter. He found her as a baby
abandoned during a rogue attack. He raised her as his own as he and
his mate have no children of their own. She is very strong and talented.
She's a beauty too. But her attitude sucks. She thinks that the prince
belongs to her as they have been fucking buddies since he came of
age.â
âWell thank you for the warning and the advice. I will keep it in mind.â
With that she left. Luna went to put the outfit in the car and came to a
small shop next to the mall and out of curiosity went inside. There was
an old woman sitting behind the counter. The shop was full of old book
on Lycanthropy and shifting. Werewolf stuff. When the woman saw her,
she seemed happy, surprised and afraid. âWhen the goddess finds her
mate then the great enemy shall be defeated.â She uttered. He
granddaughter came up to the counter and said âGood morning, can I
help you?â âWell, I was just looking around. I just moved here so I
thought I'd familiarize myself with the neighborhood. The old lady
stared at Luna and suddenly excused herself and left. âMy grandma has
visions and when she gets them, she reports to the Lycan King and he
decides whether it is important to pay attention to them or not.â She
laughed. âOh ok. I'm still getting used to this world. I grew up in the
human world, my parents were killed and my adopted parents raised
me. My uncle just recently found me and helped me through my
transition when I started to shift and I'm learning more about our life as
we go along.â Just then Nina walked into the store and asked the old
lady's daughter whether she was going to the ball. She didn't even pay
attention to Luna. She just jumped in and started talking. Luna excused
herself and left. While she was walking away, she heard Nina ask the
girl who she was.
Luna had thought that everyone was ok since her interactions but Nina
was not nice at all. âI guess you get one of those everywhere you go.
Nina got into her Ferrari and followed Luna around town and finally
home. Her jaw dropped when she saw where Luna lived. She was
furious. She couldn't believe that Luna was going to be her
competition. She knew luca's type and she knew that he would want
her. Nina went inside her house and went to her wardrobe to look for
outfits. She had to be breathtaking. She needed to standout. she
needed to outshine this new girl. Damn that girl.
Luna went home to tell Soccorah about her day. She spent what
seemed to be the latter part of the afternoon on the phone. She told
her about the people and the pack members and a stuck-up girl that
she met in one of the stores. She really missed her friend. She asked
about luca and Soccorah told her that he was ok but he had to leave for
urgent pack business. She wanted to ask whether Luca had asked about
her and where exactly his pack was but she changed her mind. She
didn't want Soccorah to think that she was interested in Luca when she
had to be working on getting some other wolf attracted to her.
She bade her goodbyes to Soccorah and went to sleep. That night she
remembered what the old lady had said in the book store and dreamed
again. This time she dreamed about herself and Luca going their
separate ways again and a voice from the tree saying âWhen the
goddess finds her mate then the great enemy shall be defeated.â She
awoke with a shock. This was familiar to her.
