Luna had been resting all day as she was given a sedative. She had
slept all night and when she awoke the following day, she had no idea
what terrible news awaited her. She got up feeling much better almost
back to her old self. She headed to the bathroom only to realize that
she was not at her house. She had clothes here as she stared at the
opened duffel bag beside her bed. She remembered that she was still
at Luca's house.
Though she was happy to be there she quickly went to shower and
started to pack her bag. She took the bag and headed downstairs to o
home. She needed to be at home since she was feeling so much better.
She couldn't have those people thinking that she was weak or an
opportunist. She had to leave Luca's house. As she headed to the front
door, she had to pass by the dining room and was stopped in her tracks
when a familiar voice called out to her.
âLuna, leaving so soon?â she turned to see her friend Soccorah heading
toward her. âWhat's the rush at least have breakfast with us.â Luna was
at a loss for words and dropped the duffel bag and ran up to her friend
and scooped her up with a big hug. âSoccorah, what are you doing
here?â she said emotion. âCan't a girl miss her best friend. Geeze.â
They went into the dining room to join the others at breakfast. She was
so happy to see Soccorah that she went through breakfast not noticing
that her uncle's seat was empty and the gloomy looks on the others
presentâs faces when they looked at her. After breakfast Luca's father
called her into his study and broke the sad news to her. Luna felt like
her whole world had been shattered once more. âIs this ever going to
end? Am I ever going to be granted a break? Every time I get even a
semblance of normalcy, then something like this happens. What have I
done to deserve this?â She cried out. Soccorah came in and hugged her
allowing her to soak up her blouse in tears.
âI asked Soccorah to come as Luca told me how close you two are. You
will need your friends to get through this. Rest assured that his death
was not in vain and it will not go unpunished. Your uncle entrusted you
to meso you will be moved to a room here at the soonest for your
safety.â Luca's father told her. âOK, but I need to get my stuff from the
house.â She replied.
He allowed her to go home to get her stuff with Soccorah ad some
guards. She had not seen Luca anywhere. She wondered if he were ok
and couldn't help but ask of him. âLuca is still weak and is resting in his
room. He is recovering. No need to worry about him.â Replied the
prince. Satisfied with this response she left for her house. She went into
her room and started packing her stuff. Soccorah helped her. When she
was done, she went into her uncle's room ad asked to be alone.
She entered the room and felt the warmth of the love that her uncle
had for her. Though it was brief she was thankful to have met him and
have him share in her life. He was always a breath of fresh air for her.
He was always there when she needed a shoulder to cry on or to
remind her of where she came from. How could he be taken from her
so soon. It was hard for her to understand. She remembered feeling this
way when her father was killed. She was so young and yet she
remembered the heart wrenching pain and the sleepless nights.
Her so called mother had been there for her and come to think of it,
Luna never paid attention to it but she never saw her witch of a false
mother shed a tear over her father. How could she have trusted this
woman. She was so lonely that she allowed this woman to fool her. She
had kept her from her uncle and now she was dead because of her. She
walked over to her uncle's bed where she had laid next to him when
she was lonely and missing her father. He had been her comfort. He
was everything to her and now he was gone.
She looked over to his trophy collection and remembered when they
first met at her college. He had helped her when she discovered that
she was a werewolf. He helped her discover that she was more than just
a werewolf. That she was special. He was so proud of her. Proud that
she had exceeded his expectations of her. He was her family. He was
strong, He was wise and he loved her. Everything that he had done in
his entire life had been for her, even when he didn't know whether he
would ever see her again.
She cried her heart out in the room and pulled herself together. There
was more at stake. Like getting revenge. Her uncle didn't have to die.
She was robbed of a future with him. Lydia would die. She would die
that was for sure. She would pay for what she had done to her and
what she wanted to do to the packs. Luna's eyes glowed with fire in
them yet she was calm. She managed to be angry and control her
powers.
She opened her palm and a fire ball suspended over it then closed it
and it disappeared. She lay down on her uncle's bed and took in his
scent one last time before leaving. She knew that he would not want
her to wallow. He would want her to be happy. She knew that she
couldn't be truly happy until Lydia was dead. She made up her mind to
not be weak and so she took a deep breath and left with Soccorah for
the palace.
