Chapter 113
Brandon said, âYou go ahead and get busy.â
âAlright.â Kent hesitated before backing out, and while closing the office door, he still couldnât help but sneak a peek at Brandon. Brandonâs handsome face remained the eternal calm and seriousness, it was the Brandon from two years ago, yet it wasnât.
Kent was also starting to get confused; he was beginning to regret being nosy that day.
As the office door closed, Kent couldnât help but sigh.
Suddenly, a hand landed on his shoulder.
âWhatâs a young guy like you sighing about?â
Donâs voice followed suit.
Kent turned to see Don, whose hand was now on his shoulder. âMr. Dempsey, what brings you here again?â
He hadnât forgotten that time Don came to egg Brandon on to go on a blind date. âYouâre not seriously here to drag Mr. Crawley off to a matchmaking session, are you?â
âWhat are you thinking?â Don tapped Kentâs head with the file in his hand, not too gently, âDuring work hours, we talk shop, of
course.â
Kent glanced at the file in his hand and caught a glimpse of the words âZenithan-style resort.â
âWhatâs this?â he asked, reaching out for it, but Don slapped his hand away, âResort architectural design plans, this is for Mr. Crawley and your chairman to review.â
After saying this, Don withdrew his hand from Kentâs shoulder.
âAlright, enough chit-chat, Mr. Crawleyâs inside, right?â
âYeah, but Mr. Crawleyâs got a meeting.â
Kent didnât finish his reminder when Don had already gone straight to knock on Brandonâs office door, and after a deep âCome in,â Don pushed the door open, catching sight of Brandon standing up with the files.
Don raised an eyebrow. âHeading out?â
âMeeting.â Brandon said, glancing at the file in his hand, âWhatâs up?â
âYeah, right.â Don said, pulling out a copy of the documents and handing them over to Brandon, âThe resort architectural design plans are out, brought them for you to take a look.â
Brandon looked at him. âWhat did Patricia and my dad say?â
âHavenât shown them yet, just got the plans and came straight to you.â
âIâll take a look later.â Brandon took the design plans Don handed over and placed them on the table, âGive them a copy too, theyâre ultimately in charge of this project.â
âWas planning to.â
Brandon nodded, already moving to leave his chair.
âIâm off to the meeting, remember to close the door when you leave.â
âGot it.â Don yelled after his retreating figure, âDonât forget to check out the design plans when youâre free, otherwise if your old man approves, Iâm washing my hands of your opinion.â
Brandon didnât turn back, just flashed an âOKâ sign with his hand as he walked away.
Don shook his head at Brandonâs disappearing back and followed him out the door, heading to the chairmanâs office.
Daniel was there, and so was Patricia.
Daniel was surprised to see him. âWhen did you get back? Didnât even give us a heads-up.â
âBeen back for some days, been running around like a headless chicken.â Don said with a smile as he approached, âMr. Crawley, Mrs. Crawley, long time no see.â
He went up and gave them both a hearty hug.
Patricia, with her eagle eyes, spotted the architectural design plans in his hand and immediately smiled with arched eyebrows. âThe plans are out that quick?â
âExactly, didnât want to keep you waiting, our designers pulled an all-nighter to get them done, and Iâve rushed them over for your review.â Don handed over a copy of the design plans to each of them, âTake a look first.â
Patricia and Daniel each took their copy.
Patriciaâs face showed surprise as she flipped through it.
Don didnât miss the flash of delight in Patriciaâs eyes and couldnât help but look towards Daniel.
While Patricia was expressive, Daniel was much more reserved, but the satisfaction was apparent from the upturned corners of his mouth and the sparkle in his eyes.
âHow do you like it? Mr. Crawley, Mrs. Crawley?â Don asked with a smile..
Patricia was already beaming. âI like it, itâs exactly the style I wanted.â
Then she turned to Daniel. âDaniel, what do you think?â
Daniel nodded slightly. âItâs fine. But.â
He frowned and looked at Don. âIâm just worried about discrepancies between the actual construction and the design. The designer really needs to keep an eye on things. Don, what does your designer say? Will she supervise the work personally?â
âSheâs abroad, might not make it back to oversee, but the on-site designers are from the same studio, theyâll ensure the work is up to snuff, so donât worry about that.â Don reassured, âPlus, sheâll visit the site periodically to check on things, so there wonât be any issues.â
Danielâs frown deepened. âIâd still prefer the designer to come personally. If she canât come, this design planâ¦â
He was about to say it couldnât be used, but Patricia cut him off.
âItâs fine if she canât make it, the same studioâs designers are just as good, and sheâll visit the site periodically, right? Thatâs
enough.â
Patricia said, looking at Daniel. âDaniel, letâs settle on this one, I really like it.â
Daniel was still hesitant.
Don also feared Daniel would make a snap decision; if they settled now, heâd be hard-pressed to find an excuse later. The real decision-making power was in Brandonâs hands.
Without Brandonâs approval, Daniel and Patriciaâs agreements would be moot, so Don smiled and said, âNo rush to decide, think it over and decide after discussing it.â
Worried that dragging it out too long might affect the decision, he added, âOur designer happens to be in the country these days, so if thereâs anything that needs changing, we can have a face-to-face chat.â
