Patricia pointed to herself. âTo bail me out?â
She never thought about contacting anyone, which was why she was stunned when someone came.
Darcie felt at ease. âGo ahead. Itâs much better to have someone bailing you.â
Then, Patricia pointed at her. âOfficer, sheâs with me. Sheâll be bailed with me.â
Patricia held Darcieâs hand with the intention of leaving together.
Darcie then grinned. âYou might want to see who came to help you out before bailing me out.â
âMiss Aniston, please.â
Both officers were so polite that Patricia was slightly puzzled, but Darcie could guess the situation. If it
was not Zachary pulling the strings, it had to be Isaac.
It is definitely one of them coming to bail Tricia. Sheâs damn lucky but doesnât seem to realize it.
Patricia looked at Darcie. âWait for me.â
Those words were meant to soothe Darcieâs worries because Patricia would not leave her behind.
As such, she followed the officer out of the interrogation room and into the police stationâs office not
long after that.
Patricia saw the office board that read that she was in the chief inspectorâs office. As she had never
been in a precinct before, it was also the first time that her bailor had to liaise with the chief.
One of the police officers then held the door for her. âMiss Aniston, please enter.â
After nodding her head, Patricia entered the said office and saw that both Zachary and Isaac were
there and having a drink with a middle-aged police officer.
She was stunned but eventually clarified, âI have really bothered you, Zachary.â
She was sure that Zachary came to bail her out, whereas Isaac was there on work-related matters.
After all, Isaacâs time was worth tens of millions. So, he wouldnât have the heart to spend it on her,
right?
Zachary then approached Patricia and gently tugged her to the left and right while ensuring she was
alright. âAre you hurt anywhere?â
The way he spoke revealed his concern for her.
She shook her head. âDarcie has always been keeping an eye out for me. Iâm alright.â
Patricia was not injured at all, but the same couldnât be said for Darcie, whose face was swollen.
Zachary slightly nodded. âItâs all good if youâre not hurt.â
The man seated next to the chief inspector had a dark expression; it was as if the aura of the entire
room had dipped to an all-time low.
When the chief inspector saw that Isaac was unhappy, he tried to mediate the situation. âMiss Aniston,
President Arnold came to bail you out. I have also learned about the circumstances that led to your
fights. You are definitely courageous, Miss Aniston. Although President Lund and his company
deserved it, youâll have to let the law deal with them next time instead of resorting to violence.â
Patricia had been scared of the cops since she was a little girl, so she lowered her head. Such
behavior was akin to a child who made a mistake. âIâm sorry, Chief Inspector. Can you release my
friend? Her daughterâs still in the hospital!â
When he heard that, the chief inspector broke into a smile. âMiss Aniston, you can just call me Chief
Hawkins. Iâm not a hot shot chief.â
He was a gentle person, and since Isaac had personally come to bring Patricia out of the police station,
Chief Hawkins had no choice but to consider Isaacâs presence.
âOf course. You can bring your friend to leave with you.â At that, he turned to Isaac and added,
âPresident Arnold, is it okay with you?â
Since it was all about negotiation, Isaac rose to his full height and shook hands with Chief Hawkins.
âIâm afraid I have troubled you, Chief Hawkins.â
After he said that, he turned his back to leave the office while Patricia gave a slight nod to Chief
Hawkins. âBye, Chief Hawkins!â
Gosh, I hope we wonât meet again. Even though itâs my first time at the precinct, thereâs such a feeling
that I can only describe as terrible. Extremely terrible.
Zachary also approached Chief Hawkins to bid his adieu, after which he followed Patricia out of the
chief inspectorâs office.
Only then did Zachary turn to look at Patricia and notice that she did not sustain any facial or bodily
injuries, but someone had ripped off some of her hair.
âAre you acquainted with Isaac?â
