~Aarna's Pov~

It was not chair on which I kept my hand

I turn my head to see

I accidentally kept my hand on him

Our eyes met, his amber gaze locking onto mine.

Those eyes were so deep,

like the Pacific Ocean,

and I felt like I was drowning,

just like the Titanic!

I suddenly noticed his gaze shift from my eyes to my hand resting on his shoulder.

It was as if time stopped, and I was pulled back to reality.

"Oh! I'm so sorry." I blurted out, quickly withdrawing my hand and starting to fix my hair in an attempt to regain my composure.

I caught a glimpse of Saanvi and Ruhi at the corner of my eye.

They noticed the whole thing and exchanged amused glances.

I remembered telling them about him before, and I could only imagine what they were thinking.

"Hey, Aarna!" Saanvi called out, her voice bright and cheerful. "Did you see that amazing dance move from Ishuu? He practically did a backflip!"

Oops! Saanvi accidentally leak Ishaan nickname, Ruhi gave him when we were talking about her skating.

Ruhi chimed in, "And you should have seen your NRI, who was not going to dance at all but when he was on stage, the fire broke out" They both laughed, and the sound was like a refreshing breeze, easing the tension in the air.

I noticed Aaditya and Ishaan face it was like where did we came in out of no where.

I couldn't help but smile at their antics, grateful for the distraction.

Saanvi leaned in closer, winking at me. "So, what's going on here? Making moves on Ridith?"

I shot her a look, my face still warm. "No! I mean... I just-"

Ruhi cut me off, still giggling. "Relax, we're just teasing! But seriously, you should talk to him more. He's actually not as scary as he looks."

I nod my head in agreement and look at my Ridh (Ridith) who was eating silently

I collect all my courage

"Hello." This is what I said with all my courage

And in reply he just nod his head.

If he was not my Ridh then I swear I could have twisted his neck by now.

"Wase tum life chill nahi karte ho kya?" I said

But as usual he doesn't reply.

(You don't chilled out in life)

If ignoring was an art, he would be Picasso.

"itne serious kyun ho bhai?" I said

(Why are you so serious, bro)

He still busy in his food.

Like no I am not making a strategy to steal his food.

I don't know what have happened to him, he is so silent now.

I am missing my charming Ridh

"tum smile kar lete ho ya woh bhi extra charges mein aata hai?" I asked but he didn't bother to even listen.

(do you even smile, or does that come with extra charges?)

"do you keep your expressions in premium mode too" Seeing him ignore me, I smirked and said

When he stayed silent again, I rolled my eyes and muttered, "Lagta hai network problem hai"

(Maybe there is a network problem.)

Ridith finally looked at me, his eyes narrowing. "Tumhe network problem lag raha hai? Toh disconnect kyun nahi ho jaati ho?"

(You think it's a network problem? Then why don't you just disconnect?)

After all that chatter, this is the reply I get?

Hai re meri kismat!

Kitni bechari hoon main.

Itni mehnat se baatein kar rahi hoon aur jawaab mein bas mirchi se bhare taane mil rahe hain.

Kya yahi mere Jeevan saathi hai? Jo smile bhi nahi kar sakta.

why, universe, why?

Here I am, showering him with my words, and he treats me like I'm background noise!"

(Oh, my tragic fate! Such a poor soul I am! I'm putting in so much effort to chat, and all I get in return are spicy taunts!)

(Is this the life partner of my dreams? The one who can't even smile?)

I cannot accept defeat.

I have to reply him

I asked "Aapne bhaiyon se toh bahut acche se baat kar lete ho, mujh mein kya kami hai?"

(You talk so nicely with your brothers, what's missing in me?)

His fiery gaze turned straight on me, but I wasn't backing down.

"Tumhe itna gussa kyun aata hai?" I asked, crossing my arms.

(Why do you get so angry?)

"Kyunki tum gussa dilati ho," he replied

(Because you make me angry)

He was about to say something but then, it happened-his eyes fell on my chain, the same one I'd worn years ago.

My heart skipped a beat.

Did he remember?

Was he going to say something?

If he remember everything then what could even happens to me.

Ahh!! My head it's spinning

But, like every other time, he turned his face away.

like he hadn't seen anything at all.

That tiny flicker of hope? Gone, squashed like a fly.

I watched Ridh finally walk away, leaving me in a dramatic swirl of thoughts.

After a bit, I gathered my energy to leave, too.

Ruhi, on the other hand, was still trapped in the auntie interrogation zone, answering questions about her future.

I felt a little bad for her, but hey, a girl's gotta save herself first.

Saanvi and I looked at each other, silently agreeing it was time to escape this madness.

We slipped out of the crowd, trying to avoid the aunties' eyes.

As we made our way to the exit, I couldn't help but chuckle. "At least we're free! No more Ridh and no more aunties!"

Saanvi laughed, shaking her head. "You and your Ridh drama! I swear, next time, I'm bringing popcorn!"

~Ishaan's Pov~

As Ruhi was practically drowning in a sea of aunties,

I knew it was time for a heroic rescue mission again.

I approached the group with a confident stride, ready to swoop in like a knight in shining armor.

"Aunty ji!" I called out, waving my hands dramatically. "Did I hear someone mention a prize for the best dancer?"

The aunties paused, their curiosity piqued.

One of them, with a glimmer in her eye, leaned forward. "Kya? Kaunsa prize?"

(What? What prize?)

I grinned, ready to take this up a notch. "Aunty, the best dancer gets to choose a handsome bachelor for their daughter. And I just happen to know a very charming one." I pointed at myself with a wink.

Ruhi nearly snorted, trying to hold back her laughter.

The aunties looked at me, then at her, as if trying to figure out the connection.

One of the aunt asked "Where it is going on."

I point in random direction.

All of aunties look at it.

I took the advantage, grab Ruhi's hand and dissappear from there.

Ruhi looked at me with a mix of relief and exasperation, her eyes sparkling with mischief. "Don't you have any other work to do?"

I grinned and shrugged, leaning against the table. "No because I am unemployed!"

As soon as she heard this one line

She threw her head back and laughed so hard it caught everyone's attention, including the aunties.

She burst into laughter, the kind that made heads turn.

Her reaction was priceless.

If being unemployed brings out laughter like this, then I'd quit my job right now.

"You? Unemployed?" She said still trying to control her laughter

"That's mean you are just a ameer baap ka bigada beta, am I right?" She asked

(Rich dad's spoil son)

"What can I say? I'm just here living my best life" I replied, feigning a dramatic sigh.

"But if you need a knight in shining armor to rescue you from auntie-land, I'm your guy."

Ruhi rolled her eyes, still giggling, but I could see the gratitude in her smile.

"Come on, Let me help you to your room" I grinned, extending my hand toward her.

"No, thanks, I can manage myself." she replied, crossing her arms and giving me a polite yet stubborn look.

I said, folding my arms too, mimicking her. "I just don't want you to accidentally end up in someone else's room and cause chaos."

Ruhi raised an eyebrow, clearly not buying it. "And how do you know where my room even is?"

For a second, I froze.

Great, Ishaan, you just dug yourself a hole.

Think fast. I ran a hand through my hair, casually leaning back against the wall. "Uh... lucky guess? And, uh, I remember seeing you heading in that direction during... um... the mehendi function."

She looked at me with suspicion but didn't push it further.

Maybe she was too tired.

She turned and started walking, and, well, I wasn't just going to let her go alone.

So, of course, I followed her like a dedicated bodyguard.

"I said I'm fine," she huffed, glancing back at me.

"Yeah, yeah. Just pretend I'm a wall decoration following you for no reason," I replied, flashing her an innocent smile.

She rolled her eyes and kept walking, ignoring me.

A few steps later.

I saw her stumble slightly. Before I could react, her foot twisted, and she tumbled to the floor. "Ruhi!" I rushed forward scooping her up into my arms.

Her cheeks flushed pink as she looked up at me, wide-eyed, clearly taken by surprise.

For a moment, there was just silence between us, and I felt a strange warmth spread through me.

She looked away, cheeks turning an even deeper shade of pink.

Maybe I held her a second too long, enjoying the moment a bit too much.

But then, of course, Ruhi broke the spell.

"Ishaan, put me down! I know where my room is." She lightly slapped my shoulder, bringing me back to reality.

She huffed, her blush turning to an adorable pout as I started walking down the corridor with her still in my arms.

I took a turn, and she frowned.

"Uh, Ishaan, that's the wrong direction. My room is the other way." Her voice was filled with drama, as if I was kidnapping her because she can't wake.

Like I don't look that bad

She puffed her cheeks in annoyance. "You're not listening. This isn't the way." she protested, her tone both adorable and dramatic. "Hello? Are you ignoring me on purpose?"

I kept walking without answering, trying not to laugh. Ruhi kept protesting the whole way, listing all the directions she thought were right. But I just focused on the hallway ahead, pretending not to hear a word.

Finally, I stopped in front of her room, she glanced at the door, her jaw dropping. "This... this is my room," she muttered, blinking in shock.

"yes, go on. Knock and let your friends see the grand entrance you've made."

She glared at me, still annoyed, but knocked anyway.

The door opened, and standing there was none other than Saanvi.

Her eyes widened, taking in the sight of Ruhi in my arms-bridal style, no less.

Her shock was so intense that the glass of juice she was holding slipped right out of her hands, shattering into pieces on the floor.

For a moment, none of us moved.

Saanvi just stared, mouth open, at Ruhi and me.

The next second, her shock melted into pure disbelief, and she shook her head like she couldn't believe her best friend had just shown up this way.

"Well, well, well... what have we here?" Saanvi's voice was dripping with teasing, but I could tell she was genuinely trying to understand what in the world was going on.

"Ruhi, do you plan on telling me why my best friend is in the arms of him?"

Ruhi tried to wriggle out of my grip, her face flushed, and gave Saanvi a sheepish smile. "Saanvi, I swear, it's not what it looks like..."

"Oh, really?" Saanvi's brow lifted. "Because from where I'm standing, it looks like someone got carried away, quite literally." She let out a dramatic sigh

At that moment, Aarna, still drying her hair, came out from the bathroom in her comfy nightwear.

She froze, taking in the scene-Ruhi in my arms, She looking like she might pass out from the shock-and just gaped at us, wide-eyed.

"Ahem, I think I missed something." Aarna looked between Ruhi and Saanvi, her face breaking into a grin.

"Saanvi, didn't we say Ruhi could only be carried by a prince in shining armor?"

Saanvi joined in, now smirking. "True! I had no idea she'd settle for this... this ladkibazz instead."

She shot both of them a half-pleading, half-defensive look. "Guys, he's not a ladkibazz-"

Wait- What she is just defending for me?

How?

When?

Why?

"Oh? Defending him now, are we?" Saanvi leaned closer, eyes sparkling with mischief. "It's okay, Ruhi"

I held my hands up in surrender, grinning. "Fair enough, ladies. I'll make sure she's safe, but next time, I'll knock before I surprise you."

Then Aarna came and took Ruhi from my hands, saanvi said "Thanks for your help Ishuu" then close the door infront of my face

But who is Ishuu??

Anyways watching them, I could see how much these three meant to each other.

Their teasing, their concern-it was like a secret language only they spoke.

~Aaditya's Pov~

The Sangeet had officially kicked off, with everyone looking their finest and, of course, dancing like they had a PhD in it.

But me? I was only interested in one thing.

Or rather, one person-

Saanvi Shergill, Miss Sanskari herself, was sitting across the hall, her back straight, her saree draped just right, all prim and proper like she was born to uphold family honor.

She was doing her duty perfectly, giving polite smiles to uncles, nodding respectfully to aunties, and carefully avoiding the dance floor as if stepping on it would be a crime.

I couldn't take my eyes off her, half-amused and half-curious, watching her stick to her sanskari routine.

Suddenly, after most of the relatives, my mom, and my brother's in-laws had left, the music took a wild turn, and the DJ blasted -

Poonam ke Chand ko, Ghunghat Ke niche daba ke... (1234 Get on the Dance Floor).

To my absolute shock, Miss Sanskari jumped to her feet, kicked off her ysl heels, and dashed onto the stage.

Her saree looked like it had been waiting to join a party of its own, and so did she!

My heart? Yeah, it didn't just fall-it crashed, burned, and probably did a few backflips.

There she was, spinning, waving, and pulling off dance moves that had nothing to do with the sanskari version of her I'd been admiring all evening.

But somehow, this was even better.

Way better.

Before I could pull myself together, my ever-helpful brothers, Ishaan and Ridith, appeared out of nowhere, spotting the way I was glued to Saanvi's every move.

"Arey dekho, Doctor ji ko heart attack toh nahi aa raha hai" Ishaan shouted, nudging Ridith and pointing right at me.

The grin on his face was wider than the dance floor.

(See, Doctor ji heart is soon to fail)

Ridith joined in, acting all dramatic. "Ambulance bhulao."

(Call the ambulance.)

What is this now

They didn't let up, throwing me looks that said, "Bhai, you're finished."

So, naturally, I had to play it cool.

I folded my arms, shrugged, and forced a bored expression, pretending like I couldn't care less.

Meanwhile, my heartbeat was probably louder than the music.

Saanvi spotted us, caught my eye, and threw in an extra little twirl, smirking as if she knew exactly what effect she was having and-

Wait, what am I doing? She's Saanvi Shergill. The same Saanvi who had spent years debating with me on everything under the sun.

The one who seemed to challenge my every thought, every move. My so-called enemy.

Focus, Aaditya, I told myself, this is Saanvi we're talking about. Your so-called enemy.

Just as I was trying to clear my head, the crowd shifted, and out of nowhere, I spotted them-my dad and Saanvi's dad, standing right at the entrance, watching everything.

The music stopped.

Saanvi froze mid-spin, her eyes wide with a mixture of shock and surprise.

Her laughter vanished as she quickly tried to adjust her saree, no doubt worried about the impression she was making.

But before I knew what I was doing, my feet had already started moving, carrying me toward her.

The look on her face was priceless-confused, maybe a little annoyed-but I didn't let it stop me.

I reached out, took her hand in mine, and gently led her back to the center of the dance floor.

Her hand was warm, soft in mine, and even though she could've protested or pulled away, she didn't say a word.

The music shifted to a slower rhythm, and we began moving together, swaying in sync.

Her silence was unusual, almost as if she was letting the moment speak for itself.

And I couldn't help but notice how, in that brief moment, everything around us faded. It was just her and me, no arguments, no banter-just a quiet, unspoken understanding.

As the music ended, I slowly let her hand go, the spell between us breaking.

We turned to find both our dads smiling, eyes filled with surprise and something that looked a lot like approval.

"Well done, you two," my dad said with a smile, giving me a proud nod.

Saanvi's dad clapped his hands, laughing softly. "I didn't know my daughter could dance like that."

She can do many more things uncle just you don't know.

Saanvi's cheeks turned a lovely shade of pink, and I could feel my own face heating up.

We exchanged a quick, awkward glance, both trying to process what had just happened.

What did I just do? Those two are tease me for the rest of my life.

But... why did I even do it?

Honestly, I don't even know why I was doing any of this.

I just know something is stirring in my heart...

A strange, unfamiliar feeling.

~Ridith's Pov~

I stood in a corner, tapping my foot and glancing around the hall, trying to keep my cool, but honestly, my patience was running out.

I had one simple thing to take care of-one tiny, important thing-and this Sangeet was making it impossible.

Every time I tried to slip out quietly, someone would pull me back.

An aunty would call me over to fix her phone's camera, a cousin would challenge me to a dance-off,

and then there was Ishaan, constantly teasing me about something or another. It felt like everyone was making sure I had zero chance to finish what I needed to do.

I clenched my jaw, forcing a smile for the fifth time as another relative passed by, but inside, I was about ready to explode.

Can't they see I'm busy here?
