Kulsum's POV-
I just received a call from my parents that they're in a flight to Istanbul.
I know I should be happy as I will be meeting them after so long, but something inside my heart is going frantic about the news.
I have never been close to my parents even though I'm their only child. My parents and I have always been distanced from each other.
I know that if they get here and if my father comes to know about my business, he will create a havoc.
"Well isn't that good? You'll be meeting your parents after months." Abdul Razzaq leaned back as he gave me a confused expression.
"I know......but if they're here, I'll be doomed." I sighed heavily.
"Wallahi, what are you saying.....they're your parents not some irritating nosy relatives." He rolled his eyes.
"I know but.....let it be. You won't understand." I sighed.
I mean yeah, how will he understand? He has such loving parents and an amazing family.
"Anyway, please don't tell them anything about my business." Sweat started railing down from my forehead.
"Okay I won't melekim, rest assured." He got up from the bed and started approaching me with slow steps.
"Anything else?" His ocean blue eyes met mine, sending chills down my spine.
"Yeah...uh...we- we have to act like....like...." I struggled to find words as he kept getting closer to me.
"Like a lovey- dovey couple eh?" He whispered in my ears with his husky voice.
I gulped as I nodded. "Alright....you helped me with my relatives that time, so I'll definitely help you with yours. Abdul Razzaq Ozturk always pay back his debts. I take no favours, and if I do....I pay it back. Whether it is a favour or a conspiracy against me."
He breathed as his voice darkened and sounded even more dangerous.
Why is he talking like that suddenly? He legit scares me sometimes.
But what did he meant by that?
He caressed my cheeks as his gaze softened, completely contrast to the weird statement he just gave.
The next day-
My parents arrived the first thing in the morning and all my in-laws were ecstatic by their 'pleasant surprise'.
They all chatted for a while before my father started leaving for the hotel, but my in-laws stopped them and asked them to stay here.
Now I'm getting more anxious about my parents finding out about my business and moreover my mom will again start with her nagging.
My father will again conspire something against me.
Because the last time they found out about my plan, he told me to marry Abdul Razzaq if I wanted to graduate.
This time too, he will do something like this if he knows about my business.
We were seated in the dining area having lunch with my mother sitting beside me.
"Sit up straight." She whispered.
"Elbows off the table."
"Fix your hijab."
"Eat slowly."
She kept nagging me over and over again as if I'm a kid or a teenager.
Why doesn't she understand that I'm married now!
That's the exact problem of every parents. They treat us like children and expect us to behave like adults.
I'm so done with them interfering in my life for the smallest things.
I mean they're my parents and they have a right to teach me what's right and wrong but I think it's time they let me go.
After lunch, I was in my room when a maid told me that my parents called me into their room.
My heart jumped to my throat as I tried to calm down.
I made my way towards their room and when I entered it, they looked at me sheepishly.
I was unable to understand whether they're happy or disappointed.
"So my dear daughter, how's everything?" My father smiled slightly.
"Good, everything's great." I forced a smile.
"Hmm....what is this I hear about your clinic?" His eyes darkened.
"Well....I-" I gulped.
"Are you stupid? This is what we have taught you? You disappointed us in front of the entire family." My father scolded as he raised his voice.
"Who told you this? Razzaq?" I lowered my gaze.
I cannot believe what just happened. My worst nightmare came true.
"Mr. Alparslan told me, it doesn't matter who told me what the heck are you doing?" He flared his nostrils.
"You're married now, you have responsibilities. You're supposed to take care of your husband and your family, but instead you're lurking out doing some stupid stuff." He barked.
Suddenly, something inside me snapped. That's it I can't take it anymore.
"I am fulfilling my responsibilities, as a wife and as a daughter-in-law. I manage my house hold chores along with my work, including taking care of my family and my husband. And it's not wrong for women to work. I'm doing everything within shariah and hijab."
I finally looked up as I said firmly. It's the first time I ever stood up or spoke for myself.
"And besides, I'm married now, so you have no right to tell me what should I do and what I shouldn't in this matter as my husband agrees to it. If he doesn't have any problems, no one should have. Not even you."
I raised my voice slightly as my parents looked at me as if they'd seen a ghost.
"I'm done with you both always demotivating me my whole life. You were never there for me and when your company suffered losses you made me get married to him just for your own benefit."
I said as my breaths became heavy and my voice sounded croaky.
"Oh so you're saying that you regret marrying him?" He folded his arms.
Of course no. My parents making me marry him is the best decision they'd ever made.
I might have regretted it in the beginning but not anymore. But I'm not going to let them know this.
Just because I don't regret it or that I'm happy with him doesn't mean what they did wasn't wrong and it definitely doesn't compensate the rest of the decisions they forced upon me all my life.
I gulped as I stood silently. "It doesn't matter anymore." I said bluntly.
"And mom, I'm not a ten year old kid anymore that you're nagging me every two seconds. It's time you both stop interfering." I said firmly.
"Well well well, look at her, she's fluttering her wings now. Don't forget, if you disobey me Allah will surely punish you." My mom snorted.
Suddenly there was a knock on the door and Abdul Razzaq entered.
"I'm sorry I overheard your conversation, but I want to clear things." He said firmly.
"Of course, please say." My father smiled.
" With all due respect, first off you shouldn't have married her off against her will. It's against Islam as well. And second thing, she can work if she wants to within shariah and hijab which she is, Islam doesn't stops us, culture does. Second thing, she takes excellent care of us and manages everything. And Allah doesn't punish those children who aren't wrong."
I looked at him with utter jubilation. I just wanted to hug him and lock myself in his embrace forever.
All my life, I've been battling with people all alone, but now Allah has blessed me with the most wonderful person.
"With your permission." He lowered his gaze.
My parents looked at us in utter disbelief as he grabbed my wrist and jagged out of the room.
I was in my bed when he joined and my heart did a funny little thing as soon as I saw him.
"Thank you." I cleared my throat.
"No need melekim." He smirked.
"No really, I mean it means a lot." I bit my lower lip.
"It's okay, they're your parents and it's hard to say anything against them." He clenched his jaw.
" It's just that....I love them but sometimes they're too much. I thought all the parents were like mine, but when I got here and your parents and your family treated me so well, I felt like I was on cloud nine. How I wish I had your parents."
I ranted out everything to him while he listened to me keenly.
"Ooh so you're jealous of me?" He smirked.
"No, it's not that....I just think you're so lucky." I gave a weak smile.
"Uhuh, but if you were my parents' daughter then you'd have to stick around being my sister, do you want that?" He cocked a brow.
I gasped totally not expecting him to say that, and threw a pillow at him.
"You're such a brat, don't talk to me." I folded my arms as I whined playfully.
He smirked at me as he threw the pillow back at me, making me lay on the bed. Suddenly he hovered over me, caging me between the bed and me.
I was so taken aback by his astonishing action as his eyes locked mine killing me with his every gaze.
"So tell me melekim, do you regret marrying me?" His voice deepened.
It suddenly hit me, my father asked me the same question and I didn't answered him properly, and now he's asking me to confirm.
How can I tell him that it's the best thing that ever happened to me. I cannot imagine my life without him.
Not that I love him, I mean I don't know but he's definitely a person with whom I wanna be with.
"I'm waiting for your answer melekim, you can stare me later." He snickered.
"Uh....well....I-I....." I became mute and frozen. I don't know how to answer him.
Just then, his phone started ringing and he pulled away and attended his call.
I sat up straight as I needed to calm down desperately. How am I supposed to say that when he's around me, all my thoughts vanish and my I find no words to talk to him.
Ya Allah, what is happening to me?
