Chapter 558 Put on a Show
Queenie listened to Paulaâs threats, her anger rising. If Jeff couldnât get a divorce, then all her motherâs years of waiting would be for nothing. She couldnât let Jeff keep betraying her mother. âFine! Iâll hold back a little longer.â
Queenie opened the door, watching Eric escort a feeble Paula inside.
She made a show of asking, âMom, Eric, if this house gets. auctioned off, where will we live?â
She addressed Paula as âMomâ again, knowing she could still use Eric for her purposes.
Paula didnât bother with the pretense anymore, laughing. mockingly.

âOh, Queenie, calling me âMomâ again? Didnât you just call me âMrs. Paula Marshâ a moment ago? Donât call me âMomââyouâre not my real daughter, after all. Go find that lowly mother of
yours.
âCalling me âMomâ just makes me sick.â
After all, her mother really was lowly.
A flash of murderous intent crossed Queenieâs eyes. How dare she insult her mother again?

âMom, you must have been too upsel carlier and imagined. things. How could I ever call you âMrs. Paula Marshâ? You raised me; youâll always be my mother.â
Queenie glanced at Eric. This foolish guy still had his uses; sheâd deal with him later.
Tears started streaming down Paulaâs face. This was the same act sheâd always used to manipulate Queenie against Diana, just to pave her way to marry Steven and establish herself as the only âdaughterâ of the Marsh family once Diana was gone.
Well, Queenie could just wait. The day her film premiered would be the day sheâd watch her fall from grace.
Paula smiled, saying, âIt doesnât matter. Even though youâre not my biological daughter, I raised you like one, Queenie. Iâve done right by you.â
Eric chimed in. âMom, how could you say that about Queenie? Sheâs our only sister, your only daughter.â
But in his heart, guilt churned. He thought, âDiana, Iâm so sorry. Once this is over, Iâll go beg for your forgiveness.â
Queenie, noticing Ericâs naivety, felt pleased. Eric was so easily swayed to her side.
She spoke with a hint of sadness. âEric, donât say that. Momâs just been very upset about the company. Once she feels better, she wonât talk like this.â

Eric smiled, trying to reassure her. âDonât worry, Queenie. Iâll talk to Mom. Even if her company is gone, she still has you and Dad, doesnât she?
âI know you care for her deeply. Youâll help her out this time, right?â
Eric looked at Queenie with hopeful eyes.
Queenie paused, surprised at Ericâs unexpected boldness.
Seeing Queenieâs silence, Eric turned his hopeful gaze to Jeff. âDad, why arenât you saying anything? Youâll help Mom, wonât you?â
Jeffâs face turned grim. âEric, this isnât something I can just fix. Tomorrow, your mother and I are filing for divorce. You kids can all go with her if you want. You and your brothersâ careers. burn money faster than I can make it, and I canât afford to support you.â
âWhat?â Eric was shocked. âDad, we havenât even found Frankâs body, and now youâre talking about divorce? The moment Momâs business hits trouble, you want to split up? Do you even care about everything sheâs done for you over the years?â
âHa! And what about you, you little goodâforânothing? Your momâs in trouble, yet you as her son canât help? Iâm old; what do you expect from me? You shouldâve applied yourself instead of becoming a deadbeat,â Jeff replied, ruthlessly. His company was his lifeline, and no one could touch that.
