The Charming Ex-Wife
Chapter 75 Iâm Allergic to the Word âFriendâ
Lynn ultimately chose her mentor over the male colleague and walked over very gracefully to help her get a glass of water before patting her back to calm her down. âDr. Thorne, why are you eating so quickly? The blood collection is tomorrow.â
Lysander choked and couldnât speak, so she could only wave her hand. âI-Iâm fine. Itâs just a little spicy.â
âHave some soup.â Adrian placed a thermos lunch box in front of her. âGreen spring minestrone. Itâs good for your health.â
âDid you buy it from outside?â
Their hospital cafeteria didnât offer such delicacies; it was already good enough to have pumpkin soup.
âI stewed it myself,â Adrian said. âTake your time drinking. Iâll go talk to the dean and come back later to retrieve the lunch box.â
Adrian smiled calmly and left the room, leaving Lysander alone in the wind while still chewing on her food.
Lynn covered her face and leaned in gossipingly. She dragged out her tone. âDr. Thorneâ¦â
Lysander frowned at the sound. âCan you speak normally? Your voice is making me uncomfortable.â
With an expression of âI see right through everything with my eyes,â Lynn tapped the thermos lunch box with her finger. âDr. Sutton came for you, right?â
Lysander lowered her head to eat.âWhat nonsense are you talking about? He already said itâs because his family is in Harborbrook and the relationships in our hospital are simple.â
âHmph!â Lynn sighed softly. âThis soup was personally brewed by him. If he didnât have special feelings for someone, why would he put in so much effort?â
Lysander said, âMaybe he was just making soup for himself for lunch?â
âWell, heâs really generous then.â
Lysander didnât say anything. She just lowered her head and continued eating.
Lynn reached out to open the insulated lunch box. âLet me smell this soup and evaluate his cooking skillsâ¦â
Her hand was just about to reach it when Lysander slapped it away. âDonât touch it. We have to return it to him exactly as it is.â
Lynn pouted. âDo you have to be so heartless?â
Lysander paused, lowered her head, and slowly said, âSince I have no intention of furthering this, itâs better to reject from the beginning. I donât want him to misunderstand and think thereâs still a chance for him. Itâs unfair to him if I waste his time and emotions. Itâs not ethical.â

Chapter 75 Fm Allergic to the Word âFriendâ
Lynn leaned in closer to her before whispering, âDr. Thorne, since youâre already divorced, you donât have to reject directly. You can start as friends first and see how things progress laterâ¦â
Cough⦠Cough⦠Coughâ¦.
âWhy are you coughing again? The food I bought today wasnât spicy, right?â Lynn pulled out some tissues and handed them to her. âDr. Thorne, are you okay? Is there something youâre allergic to?â
Lysander took the tissues and took a deep breath. âIâm allergic to the word âfriends.â
Lynn was puzzled. âHuh?â
Lysander had almost finished eating. She quickly packed up the lunch box and handed the lunch box brought by Adrian to Lynn. âCan you please put this on the nurse station for me? Remember to give it to Dr. Sutton when heâs done.â
âWhat about you?â
Lysander smiled. âMy dear assistant, I have to go out tomorrow to collect blood samples, so I need to go home, take a shower, and change clothes.â
Lynn chuckled. âAll right. Leave it to me.â
Before leaving, Lysander suddenly remembered something. âIs the box of cookies that Dr. Sutton gave you still there?â
Lynn, looking like a protective nurse puppy, held onto the bag of cookies tightly. âYouâre not going to make me give it back too, are you?â
Lysander felt helpless and said, âTake it out.â

Chapter 76 Death-like Beauty
âDr. Thorneâ¦â
âDonât worry. I wonât let you return it. I just want to take a picture.â
Lynn hesitated but still handed her the small biscuit. Would you like to buy one too? Dr. Thorne, let me tell you. This small biscuit is really delicious and i wonât cause weight gain at all. Itâs very popular and hard to findâ¦â
After Lysander took the photo, Lynn quickly snatched the small biscuit back.
âDonât worry. I wonât let you return it.â
Only then did Lynn feel relieved. âThatâs good. Dr. Thorne. Are you buying it for me? Oh, youâre so kind.â
Lysander quickly reached out to stop the child from jumping in to hug her and said softly, âAll right. You helped me bear the risk of the abortion last time, so I should thank you properly. Iâll buy you half a yearâs worth of small biscuits.â
âYay!â
Lysanderâs legs were not convenient, so in the end, Lynn helped her out of the hospital entrance and watched her get into a taxi.
Lysander sat in the car and sent a picture to Daphne.
Daphne was puzzled.
Lysander wrote, âMiss Everhart, I know you have a wide network, can you get this brand of small biscuits?â
Daphne replied, âNo problem. How many do you need?â
Lysander wrote, â200 boxes.
Daphne replied, âWow, are you planning to do business? Stocking up on so much inventory?â
Lysander wrote, âMy assistant, whoâs a young girl, likes to eat these. She helped me with the abortion before, so I want to thank her.â
Daphne replied, âOh, I remember that girl. Sheâs quite loyal. All right. Iâll help with this favor. 200 boxes, right? Wait for my message.
Lysander wrote, âDaphne, get two more boxes.
Daphne replied, âFor yourself?â
Lysander wrote, âYou know me. I donât really like sweets.â
