Faye said, âThe only people who have it out for Cape right now are Joy Corp. Weâre in the middle of a pretty fierce competition against them.â
âJoy Corp?â Wilbur asked.
Faye nodded. âOnly Joy Corp would be powerful enough to sway an official news report from a local television broadcast station. The thing is, they would never dare to do something like that outright with how powerful Cape International is.â
Wilbur got up, pacing to and fro in the room as he thought to himself.
Elsa spoke up then. âThereâs something fishy about Sherry and the television broadcast station, but if Sherry insists sheâs telling the truth, we donât really have anything to go off of.â
âThe television broadcast station is huge. Surely they canât all be in on this. You could send someone to look around. We might find something,â Faron said.
Wilbur nodded. âSounds like a plan, but who should we get to do it?
âThatâs simple! Iâll make a call to the broadcast department and get someone to look for anything fishy,â Faron said.
Faye said at once, âMaking a fuss out of this might alarm them instead.â
Faron frowned. âHmâ¦. Iâll have them ask privately then and hire someone to go undercover. Howâs that?â
Faye nodded. Faron saw that Wilbur seemed fine with this as well and took out his phone.
A while later, he ended the call âTheyâre getting to it now.â
âTell them to hurry up. This is starting to affect Capeâs reputation,â Faye said.
Wilbur did not know what else could be done. How did something so small blow up to this extent, dragging Cape down with it as well? It was really strange.
After an hour of waiting later, someone finally called Faron back. He picked it up at once.
A while later, he hung up and said, âWeâve got something âWhat is it?â Faye asked.
Faron said, âSomeone in the broadcast department has an ex-cla**mate working in the Seechertown Television Broadcast Station, Mariah Shandon. Mariah says that the news report was originally a**igned to a new intern Chloe Blott, but halfway through that she was fired by the station director for unknown reasons. The report was then rea**igned to Mariah, and she says that she only edited it according to the station director Telford Gillsâ orders. Mariah also said that the director had a history of sleeping around with his subordinates, and even has a heavily questionable financial history. Mariah did say, though, that she doesnât have much proof on this and all of it is just hearsay.â
âPretty gutsy of Mariah to rat out her director like this, no? Willur found the words a little hard to believe.
Faron smiled. âBro, just trust me when you let me handle something. Thereâs definitely some reliability in any information I give you.â
Wilbur smiled as well. Faron was right. Anyone in the system would never dare to mess with an order from someone like Faron Campbell The thing is, this Mariah person seemed pretty unhappy with her director.
Just then, Faye said, âWeâve got a target now! We can ask Chloe about what happened. She has to know somethingâ
âWhoâs going, and whatâs their cover?â Wilbur asked.
Faron chuckled. âHow about a disciplinary inspection from the Municipal Commission for Discipline Inspection?â
âWhat? No way, Chloe didnât even do anything wrong,â Willur said with a frown.
2/2 Faron said, âThatâs the best solution we have if we want to speed this up. If Chloe can even mention the slightest thing wrong with Telford Gills, an inspection can be launched right away.â
âThatâs fair. Thereâs something clearly off with Chloe getting fired out of the blue. This is the best way to go by,â Faye said. Wilbur nodded slowly. âWeâll do just that, then. Remember, donât scare the girl.â
âYeah, yeah. Iâll make sure of it.â
Faron began making a series of calls after that, stating real names.
The order traveled to the relevant department, and everyone was shocked to hear that it was coming from Faron Campbell.
The head of the department hurriedly called Faron up. Upon hearing Faronâs explanation, he arranged for someone to reach out to Chloe at once.
The next morning Chloe was in the middle of making herself breakfast, sulking as she bustled around.
She had been threatened and even lost her job. Anyone in the same situation would be upset.
Just then, someone knocked on the door.
âWhoâs there?â
