Just then, Faron said, âJoy Corp might not have any evidence that Cape or the authorities can get a hold of, but itâs undeniable that Jordan framed Cape and Dorson killed him for it. Based on that alone, Joy Corpâs going to have to slip something good our way if they donât want Cape to hound them for what happened. They canât afford any more trouble as this could affect their company and land them in a serious crisis. Wilburâs right.â
Elsa understood at once and nodded along. âThis will be good for Cape, thenâ
âThatâs all thanks to Wilbur. If Darson managed to escape after his assassination, both sides wouldâve been in a tie and joy Corp would have no reason to let up. They might even be smug about it,â Faron said.
Elsa shrugged, shaking her head. âIâm not as businessâminded as the likes of you.â
Faronâs expression darkened at once. âWhatâs wrong with being businessâminded? Is your mind any better?â
âAre you calling me stupid?â Elsa fumed in retaliation.
Wilbur sensed a fight was brewing and hurried to stop the both of them. âThatâs enough! God, I canât believe you two were able to start a fight over something like this.â
Wilbur was powerful enough to put an end to the argument. Faron and Elsa scoffed, turning away.
Wilbur shook his head in exasperation. Those two were like oil and water.
Just then, Elsa looked at Wilbur with a mysterious smile on her face. âWilbur, Iâve got something to ask you.â
âWhat is it?â
Elsa smirked. âThose uhm⦠skills you used last night, like the Thunder Bulbs, and the Way of Thunder. Oh, and Quad Thunder too. They were awesome! How did you do it?â
âOnly cultivators can do that.
âI know, but could you teach me a thing or two about it? I feel like Iâm powerless the moment thereâs a cultivator involved in a
Wilbur glanced at her. âItâs not as easy as you think. Besides, youâve grown past the optimum age to begin cultivating.â
Elsa was a little upset but pressed on anyway. âFaronâs cultivating too! Why canât I?â
Wilbur was speechless, turning to look at Faron.
Faron coughed. âYou brought it up first. I just elaborated on it.â
Wilbur was certain that Faron had just been showing off in front of Elsa. That was fine, he supposed.
But cultivation was either inherited, developed through training, or an innate talent. It was also important that the cultivator began cultivation at a young age. That was the only way they would succeed.
It would be hard for someone at Elsaâs age to begin cultivating unless they were to trade themselves a Marrow Cleansing Pill from the Dragonâs Altar.
The trade required a good amount of treasures in exchange that were quite hard to get.
Yet considering his friendship with Elsa, Wilbur did not know how to turn her down either. He fell silent for a while before saying, âIâm not saying itâs impossible, but youâll have to wall for a chance to come
by.â
âIâm cool with that!â Elsa lit up at once. âIâll wait, as long as it takes!â
Wilbur smiled, saying nothing
Just then, Faye came home surprisingly early from work.
She was all smiles as she walked into Wilburâs room, greeting Faron and Elsa as well.
2/2
âYouâre back early today,â Wilbur said with a smile.
Faye sat down. âJoy Corp sold all of Willow Corpâs shares at a stupidly low price.â
âOh, does that mean theyâre backing out of the competition over the commercial district?â Wilbur asked.
Faye nodded. âYup. This is their way of saying theyâre letting go of the commercial district project altogether, sa Cape wonât hound them about what happened to Jordan and Dorson.â
âWhat are you going to do?â
âWell, Iâm not going to push it since theyâve offered us an out. Iâm going to focus on the commercial district now and make sure Willow Corpâs merger is settled as soon as possible.â
