âA banquet?â Faron fell silent. âIâll pa** on this one. I shouldnât be showing my face at an event like this.â
Faron was someone of power, and it was true that he had to pick what events he attended.
Wilbur chuckled. âAre you sure? There might be something worth seeing â
âSomething worth seeing?â Faronâs face lit up with curiosity. âIâve got to be there, then. What banquet is this?â
âThe city business banquet. You can find out where it is for yourself,â Wilbur said, then hung up.
He gave it some thought and took his own caller card out of his personal phone before inserting it into the phone the department had given him.
There was no way he was going to be lugging two phones around all the time.

his license and handgun back into the briefcase, then tossed it onto the pa**enger seat before driving back home.
It was only one oâclock in the afternoon then. Wilbur sat in the living room in silence, thinking long and hard about something
This banquet was definitely going to be something else. Fayeâs father attending would definitely make things awkward, and Wilbur was certain that Fabian would go the extra mile to give him a hard time.
Wilbur was feeling helpless. Fabian was, after all, Fayeâs father, and Wilbur had to respect him for that, at the very least. Faye had every right to argue with her father, but Wilbur was far less qualified
He thought about it and figured the best thing to do would be to just wait and see. Either way, he would respect whatever Faye decides
She was no
was not only working under Wilbur. The two of them shared a special relationship that was undefined, but it was definitely significant.
Time went by just like that, and Faye finally returned from work after six oâclock in the evening. Jose was also here, lugging in a large suitcase behind her.
Jose had been Fayeâs driver and bodyguard ever since Wilbur had taken him down. He had been doing a fine job since
âHello, sir.â Jose bowed to Wilbur respectfully.
Wilbur got to his feet, nodding at Jose. Thanks for the hard workâ
âPlease, donât mention it.â Jose set the suitcase down in the middle of the living room and left right after.
Wilbur looked at the suitcase. âWhatâs in there?â
âClothes I bought for you. Surely you arenât thinking of showing up to the banquet in a Tâshirt and jeans, are you?â Faye smiled.
Wilbur nodded, and Faye opened the suitcase. In it were a few suits, and several pairs of shoes.
Faye made Wilbur try them on one by one, taking her time to marvel at the sight before deciding on a pale blue suit with beige
loafers.
With the new clothes, Wilbur instantly looked a lot younger. Faye was more than pleased.
âYou look way better like this.â Faye smiled.
Wilbur shrugged. âI still like my own clothes more. This isnât very comfortable for me.â
âYou can dress like this once in a while. Thereâs no harm in
Faye said.
Willur nodded.
âLetâs go. Itâs already past seven oâclock,â Faye said.
2/2
Wilbur looked at Faye. âHave you really thought it through?
âIâm all yours. What are you talking about?â Faye rebutted swiftly, leaving Wilbur to blush awkwardly. This woman was truly not to be messed with.
âAlright, then. Letâs go.â
The two of them left, and Wilbur drove off to Seecher Hotel.
The Seecher Hotel was funded by the government and was mainly used to entertain authorities while also being open to the public.
Anyone who dined or stayed there was definitely someone of power, as regular people could not afford to do so.
